We just bought a home in Westfield, NJ before the start of the school year and we were trying to get as much work done before moving in and he came through. He helped us stay within budget, walked us through our options, and kept us updated throughout the process. We had carpet removed and hardwood installed on the top floor. We had carpet and tile removed and hardwood installed in the main floor family room. We had hardwood refinished through the rest of main floor (which had a lot of heavy scuff marks) and the upstairs staircase steps. We had dark brown paint removed and wood refinished on the basement staircase steps. We went with a natural satin finish which looks bright and clean. He did an amazing job matching the existing wood to the new wood on the main floor. The floors look absolutely wonderful. He has a really good eye for detail. Alex did amazing job! He came early morning with another person and spend an hour putting nylon sheets to protect everything drom dust. They sand the floor with 2 machines one main and another for corner. Then vacuumed and clean the place. The did 2 layers of paint - which I really like! And did polish in between. Price was fair. Alex refinished floors in our house 3 years ago in 2018. He also added metal balusters to our staircase. He is the best contractor we have ever worked with. The floors have taken so much abuse the last 3 years from kids. They look great, the color that he convinced us to use is great. We recently had to redo our tiles and when we removed the flooring transitions we saw how brilliant his work is. A long reducer was cut in a way to combine a shorter one without the cut being visible. Two reducers were glued together to deal with a large height increase. Allex Flooring blew me away with the work they did in my house. Alex was the first (out of 3) floor specialists that came by to provide me a quote. He was very thorough in explaining the process and left me documents and samples and also told me to ask the other contractors coming specific questions to make sure I was getting the best products/service. His pricing was the middle of the 3 I quotes I received. I also told all 3 of them that I was considering doing my stairs and rails and to provide a separate quote for that. The other 2 told me that do not do rails/stairs due to the complexity and provided DIY solutions. Alex said he had one it previously and showed me pics. The separate quote for that did give me sticker shock but understanding that it is in the foyer and main focal point when walking through the front doors, I bit the bullet and went with it (and couldn't be happier). His guy was very careful with removing the spindles and even told me to repaint them before he reinstalled them. Floor turned out great as well and we receive so many compliments on the work that was done by Allex Flooring. In addition, Allex made and installed transition pieces around my entrance ceramic tile that finished off the area so nice. They sanded, stained (after applying several stain options to the sanded floor so we could choose), and applied three coats of polyurethane--all in four days (started Monday, finished Thursday). Allex had the misfortune of havingTo fix my terribly botched floors because I trusted Carpet World I was left with ruined hardwood floors throughout my house. It looked like kids had gotten in to dark stain and thrown it all over. I'll attach the before and after's later or u can see my Carpet World Review. He was patient with me in getting the right color and took extra time and care in sanding down the mess that had recently been created and paying close attention to not strip the wood right down to nothing.
