I'm visiting Cincinnati from Florida for a few days, and I stumbled upon this place completely by accident. Boy, am I glad I did. After ordering my sandwich and coffee at the front with Candice, who was extremely pleasant, I sat at the bar and waited for my food. I ordered the ham and butter baguette sandwich, and I can honestly say it was the best baguette sandwich I've ever had in the USA. I travel to France often and absolutely love the bread there, so for me to praise a sandwich because of the bread says a lot. The coffee was also excellent and even came with beautitul latte art. I have seen so many people stop by the new location in Madisonville so I decided to check it out myself. It was defenitly busy for a week day for sure. They had a few different pastery options and I ended up getting the cheddar biscuit. It was a really big biscuit but I do wish they would have offered to heat it up. Best sourdough bread. "All of our sourdoughs have a mix of organic whole wheat flour from Janie's Mill, organic rye flour from Janie's Mill, and unbleached unbromated hi gluten flour from King Arthur." So excited that they use quality flours for their bread. We stock up on our loaves, pop them in the freezer and use them over the week. Parm & black pepper loaf is my favorite. It's no wonder many of the restaurants around OTR serve bread from Allez on their menu, notably Pepp & Dolores and Salazar. Right when you walk in, you're greeted with the incredible smell of fresh baked bread. The front counter occupies a small space compared to the rows of freshly baked goods and industrial sized ovens lining the back. There's a selection of pastries and cookies right next to the cash register. Espresso chocolate chip cookies, zucchini bread, coffee cake.. Then you have the beautiful display of bread on a wooden shelf. Baguettes, sourdough, focaccia.. the bread here is incredible. The love and care in making each load is evident. Great rustic flavor, seasoned well, and that beautifully satisfying crust. We make a weekly run to get the urban sourdough. Have them slice it for you on your way out. Allez bakery is now a staple for us, and you can bet we'll always have bread from them on our counter. Go try it for yourself, maybe it will become a staple for you too. read more

We absolutely love Allez Bakery's focaccia bread! We've picked some up previously at the stand at the Hyde Park farmers market. Today, we decided we couldn't wait for farmer market season to start, and took ourselves down to their bakery downtown. Delicious! Took it home and made chicken pesto sandwiches. Mmmmm. This shop is tiny and really all about purchasing their bread, so ambiance-wise, it's got a "This is a working bakery" vibe. Employees are helpful (cut a fresh focaccia for us since the pre-bagged selection was sold out), and busy baking things. Street parking - we happened to find a spot out front. We didn't see or try it, but apparently there's a new Allez cafe down the street if you are looking for more room to appreciate a bakery-centered bite to eat! read more

I ordered a delicious cappuccino to go from a friendly gentleman, and it didn't take very long. I can't wait to get back in and try more. The storefront for this bakery is tiny, but when you see the spread of delicious baked goods, you'll be glad you found it. There appeared to be the option for online preorders, but the shop was open for regular walk-in business when I dropped by. I could have picked just about anything, but the seeded loaf I got was a robust and aromatic option, with a notable fennel seed kick. As much as I need to eat less carbs, I still wished I'd gotten another loaf. A sesame-topped sticky bun was no less delicious. The baked goods scene in Cincinnati is quite strong, and I would note that Brown Bear and O Pie O (among others) are within a block or two and offer a sufficiently different selection that I have no problem shopping at multiple bakeries whenever I visit the city. For a straight up loaf of bread, I doubt you'll find better than this place. read more

I have seen so many posts about Allez Bakery on Instagram and heard fellow Elites talking about them for quite a while now. A few weeks ago, I was downtown for a meeting and when I found myself close to Allez Bakery, I had to stop. I read the reviews before I went in because I wanted to see what the top recs were. It was very clear that sourdough is the thing to NOT miss at Allez Bakery. The staff was SO friendly and helpful. They walked me through the different types of sourdough and eventually sold me a loaf of sourdough rye after I asked an employee which sourdough was the most sour. We then shared a bonding moment over our love for "flavors that punch us in the face." They sliced the bread for me and I ate a piece the moment I was back in my car. It was delicious-- some of the best bread I have ever had. I made turkey reubens with it that week and they were fantastic. The bakery itself is tiny, but so cute and warm and inviting. 100/10 will be back. read more

Allez is a magical, hidden oasis of bread and other baked goods. I've never ordered a loaf I didn't like. My favorite is definitely the Focaccia, but the Rye Sourdough also has a special place in my heart. My only issue with this wonderful, European-style bakery is their hours!! I cannot tell you the amount of times I'll think to myself, "Oh, I should stop in and pick up some Sourdough," only to look at their hours and realize that they're closed. You definitely have to plan ahead if you want to enjoy some a freshly baked Baguette with that pasta you were planning to make for dinner. And, like any other beloved bakery in town, you need to show up early if you want something specific. If you walk in with an hour till closing, chances are the popular loaves will all be gone. If you know you're going to want bread, you should probably stop by first thing in the morning on your way to work. I'll let you in on a secret though - a small work-around for them being closed on Sundays. During the summer months, they usually have a booth at the Hyde Park Farmer's Market. The line is typically eight people deep, but if you get there early enough, you can satiate your cravings for Focaccia and a few other select offerings. read more

I stopped by to pick up a loaf of bread on my way home from an appt today. This is one of our favorite spots to come for fresh baked bread it's just unfortunate that it's over 30 mins away from our house. Still we make an effort anytime we're down here to grab one to go because it's addicting Our favorite is the sourdough bread. Warm it up in a toaster oven for a nice crunch and a warm doughy center. I can't speak for the pastries yet but I'm sure I'll try one someday. The service is always friendly as you're greeted with a smile. Best bread in the city. It cannot get any better than this which is why even restaurants order their bread from here. Sourdough loafs comes in many flavors - my favorite being the black pepper parm. Baguette is fantastic as well. They also serve limited selection of sandwich specials - never tried them but looks great. We became introduced to Allez Bakery by dining at Pepp & Dolores. We absolutely love their bread there, so we asked if they made it in-house. Actually, they get their bread from Allez Bakery. The bakery closed at 3 p.m. the day we found out about it, but we were determined to try them another time. Today was the day! It was after 1 p.m. so perhaps they usually have more to choose from, but today they had baguettes, focaccia and epi as far as breads. She let me know that they had more baguettes in the back to which I asked if we could get some freshly made. "No, they were all baked last night" was the answer. Ended up buying a couple of baguettes and an epi. My husband was a little disappointed as they didn't taste as fresh as the ones we had at P & D. He was happy to find another place that sells them. This turkey sandwich is the BEST meal I've had all year. I'm a sandwich snob and am always in search of the perfect combo. My favorites have been from street carts in France and delis in VA. This ranks up there as one of my favs. The turkey is flavorful and moist without that packaged cold cut taste. The focaccia was sturdy but not too crisp (to be expected from these master bakers). Perfectly seasoned with pesto mayo that was not overwhelming but held the crunchy lettuce and bursts of marinated tomatoes in place. All that, and enough to share or save for a midnight snack and way less expensive than my mediocre chain bakery standard sandwich. It was perfection! So sorry I didn't tip. I usually do but the hands-off, appropriate social distancing and other hungry customers in line behind me made me rush. I will double up on my return trip. read more

I've walked past this place probably 100 times in OTR without stopping in until last week. Someone told me about the Jambon Beurre sandwich (ham and butter sandwich that is super popular in Paris) and I had to try it. This was legit one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The ham was piled high and there was emmental cheese and herb butter on a baguette. It was pretty damn close to an entire baguette so for $10, I for sure got my money's worth. I've walked passed this bakery a few times and never even noticed it until today. As soon as I walked in I smelt the fresh bread. The baker/ owner was extremely helpful when it came to section a bread. He even allowed me to sample some. The price itself wasn't bad either $6 for a loaf and he even slices it for you. We visited the hyde park farmers market today. Never had Allez before and we were excited to try a few things. We tried a couple things when we got home... tomato pie for me was a home run. The zucchini walnut loaf was a huge miss. It was really dry and zero flavor... i actually spit it out and was really sad about it. The cheddar biscuit was ok... in fairness, we didnt heat it (not sure if you are supposed to or not... wish they would have said). It was also a bit dry to me and lacked depth of flavor. We got a couple kinds of bread as well, but havent tried yet. We have another bakery we frequent at the Madeira farmers market and were hoping this would be just as good, but unfortunately it wasnt. Would buy the tomato pie over and over again for sure. read more

Wonderful small bakery, right next to Camino Motor store. The Owner, a cyclist at heart, baker by proffession, mentioned the name 'Alléz' was inspired by a French encouragement phrase, shouted to these who cycle or do other activities. I surely cheer for him! They bake a great quality sourdough in several varieties: honey & sesame, poppy&cumin&sunflower and a dark all whole wheat. I was so lucky today to get a still warm fresh loaves. Coming from Poland, for me there is nothing better than packing a slice of a real bread with butter, ham and cheese for breakfast, lunch, supper or a snack :) Bread all day, every day! In a land of toasts and donuts, finding a real deal bread is kind of like a victory, so Alléz to me! I could not resist tearing off a bit of crunchy fresh crust on a way home, soo good. Saw a short sandwich menu on the wall in store, good idea for a healthy light lunch, will be back! The cute Sloth in the logo, that only adds up to the goodness. Almost forgot, their bread is awesome- Love the marble rye, multi grain and the sourdough (and I don't particularly care for sourdough and yes, I've had some of the best SD from Egypt to California. So, a buddy of ours introduced us to Alléz at a dinner a month or so back. The bread was absolutely amazing, the flavor of the sourdough rye was on point. We were blown away. I was craving some today so I stopped in to grab a quick loaf. Some backstory: Being from the east coast, I grew up close to NYC, where the pizzas are next to none and then bread is always fresh. My family had moved to Minnesota and from that point forward, we could find bread, but it just simply wasn't the same. After making the move to Cincy a little over a year ago, my hopes were high. I can officially say I've found the best bread spot and my new favorite bakery, that can hands down compete with the best out on the east coast. Also, the bakers at Alléz are phenomenal. I dropped in at 6:30, with roughly 30 minutes until closing, with the intention of just getting a loaf. After I bought my loaf (see pics - they're gorgeous - yes, bread can be gorgeous), the rad baker dude gave me an extra baguette - as he said they wouldn't sell them before close and he'd just throw them away. That is amazing customer service right there, which will make me come back 100 times over. Do yourself a favor. If you're in OTR and looking for the best baker in town, look no further. A fantastic addition to OTR, this bakery has a great selection of delicious sourdough breads that range from around 5-8 dollars. I've frequented this store a few times and have tried out their black pepper parmesan, rye, sunflower cherry, and seeded breads. All of the breads are made with a sourdough base. They are so delicious that a big loaf is consumed in my household in a couple of days! My favorites have been the black pepper parmesan and seeded. Very quick service and they also have 1-2 samples by the register so you can taste before you buy. I will definitely be going there again for my sourdough fix! I have not yet tried their sandwiches but I have my eye on their meatball sandwich which looks delicious! I arrived at Allez dreaming the impossible dream of securing bread that was both delicious and reasonably priced. I spotted one sourdough loaf for $6, and snatched it up. I get to the cash register, and a sinister middle-aged man rang the loaf up at $9. I thought that there must be a mistake. I pointed out the prices listed on the board behind the man, which clearly priced my particular loaf at $6. The man turned to look at the board and, cackling, he turned the "6" on the board upside-down into a "9". He insisted with a wide grin that this loaf had always been $9. Feeling defeated, and thoroughly ripped off, I gathered my loaf and left. I noticed a sign on my way out that listed all the loaves as somewhere between $6 to $8. Where, might I politely but angrily inquire, did the $9 price point pop up from? Why did the menacing and giggling man behind the counter make up a price on the spot? Does the Allez Bakery just take sadistic pleasure in up-charging customers? I will not be returning. read more
