They have quickly become one of Cincinnati's most talked‑about bakeries, and for good reason. Their classic croissant is everything you want it to be, flaky, sweet, buttery, and beautifully layered. The pecan roll is another standout. It is loaded with pecans, sticky in the best way, and easily one of the best in the city. When they're on, they're really on. One thing I noticed was that the setup could use a little refinement. With both coffee and bakery items coming from the same counter, the line gets congested fast and the shop is quite small. A separate line for coffee and tea offerings - they have a bunch - and pastries would make the experience smoother and match the quality of what they're serving. They do offer vegan options, which I personally have no interest in, but just an fyi. Overall, they deliver excellent pastries and has the potential to be even better with a few small tweaks to the flow and menu variety. Incredible! After a rainy but successful trip to the season's last Hyde Park farmer market, we decided to check out one of the bakeries on my "want to try" list: Two Seven Two, in Clifton. I'm so glad we did! It was amazing. The shop is quite small and bustling on a Sunday morning. The baked goods are displayed mouthwateringly behind glass, nicely labeled. I do not think it would be possible to leave with just one item -- so many delicious-looking sweet and savory options, and so well crafted. We choose a pecan sticky bun (the last one in the case - ha! Sorry, people behind us, you didn't get to experience that caramelly flavor with the salt flake zings!), a s'mores morning bun (the delicate chocolate filling didn't over power and the whipped creamy topping were perfect) an apricot shortbread cookie (literally melts in your mouth!), and a kimchi danish (not me - my daughter picked that one and loved it). They were all superb, worth having a conversation about! We also had drinks - iced vanilla latte and a seasonal apple cider with cold foam -- also very tasty. There were a couple of tables inside, a couple outside. It's a popular place so consider yourself lucky if you snag a spot. We took ours to go, walking past a line of folks waiting their turn to drool at the glass. We ordered inside, got our pastries boxed up, then went outside to wait for our drinks to be delivered by the barista through a handy sidewalk-facing window. One of my joys while on vacation is to visit local bakeries and try a variety of baked goods. The Cincinnati zoo is close by and they allow outside food and drinks. As such, we stopped by on a Thursday morning to pick up a few pastries for our zoo visit. We went with the basics, croissant and pain au chocolate. Both items were fresh, buttery, and flakey. There is street parking out front and a few tables and chairs inside to dine in. I took my pastries to go. I enjoyed the earl grey bun, cardamom bun and savory scone. How happy was I to be off work early to finally grab some sweets. They were almost sold out but I got Blackberry Matcha bun and Peach Almond muffin. I ate the muffin before I got to Cincinnati State. I've tried this place out a few times now. The first time during their opening month. Tip: get there a few minutes before they open to get first dibs on the options. The place is very compact with two tables and a line of 3-4 people fitting in the door, with a longer line waiting outside. Tbh I feel like they should scratch the tables and let more customers in line fit, it wouldn't be the first time a pastry place had to do so. More recently, they take your drink order and ask you to pick up beverages outside from the window. When they first started they would post to Instagram what was on the menu for the day/weekend. Last I went, it was more of a mystery until you walked in and got to see the case. With the crazy line formed behind me, my anxious self is not a fan of this change. But as someone more than open to experimenting, I end up always finding something to try. Their flavors are complex, combining teas, spices, cheeses, and creams, the list goes on. Their vegan efforts are of another world and indistinguishable from their all-ingredient companions. There are always more basic options than a vegan rhubarb cultured cream cheese and pistachio, such as a pain au chocolate, a blueberry muffin, or a chocolate chip cookie. Tried their green and pink drink-a matcha something, everyone raved about but not my cup of tea. It's pricey with most pastries close to $6, a treat nonetheless. I enjoy the ever-changing menu to keep things fresh and customers returning but I'm a real sucker for something a little simpler executed extremely well. I live about a five minute walk from here... it's a fight to not go every day. Their desserts are unique and delicious, and the lattes always come out perfect. (My favorite is the iced mocha latte.) The pastries tend to run out around noon, and there is very limited seating, but I still consider 272 one of my favorite places. read more

As a huge fan of brown bear bakery in OTR, we were excited to come check out Two Seven Two. It's a compact space with limited seating, but adds to the coziness with the smell of freshly baked pastries. Love the addition of the large glass window panes that look directly into their bakery. The familiar sight of an assortment of pastries welcomes you on your left when you walk in. Little handwritten signs naming each pastry. Prices aren't listed, but they typically range from $5-7. The selection changes depending on which ingredients are available/in season, so there's always something new to try! The employees were patient and helpful in helping us make a decision, since everything looked so good. The two pastries we got were amazingly laminated, flaky, and delicious. I can tell the quality is held to the same high standard as their flagship store. Already off to a great start, will be back! read more

It was fun to wake up Saturday morning to explore Clifton and stop into Two Seven Two!! My favorite item by far was the Twice-baked Pecan + Oat Croissant. I'm not a huge Pecan person, but found it DELICIOUS!!! I find that the bakery is easy enough to meet someone and hangout in-- assuming you do snag one of the three tables! Since the selection felt so limited (not sure if it was a time-of-day-or-always thing) I probably would go to/ try some of the other amazing bakeries in DT Cincy before coming back again. read more

The shop is VERY tiny, tucked away near Skyline. There are only 3 tables for seating so plan on getting your coffee and pastries to go unless you get lucky and someone leaves when you arrive! The pastries are very unique flavors which is something that always draws me to a place. I grabbed: Raspberry Five Spice Croissant Raspberry Bostock Sourdough Focaccia with tomatoes and cheese Coriander & Lemon Poppy Bun My favorite was definitely the focaccia. One of the best newish bakeries / coffee shops in town. The bakery is small inside with limited seating, there is a little patio out bake with a few tables. Both spaces are minimal and could use some decor/ambiance help. However, who cares about ambiance when there's laminated pastries like this available. I typically get the Vegan Blackberry or Stawberry Morning Bun, it is so flakey and delicious with a touch of lemon and sugar on the pastry. If my wearable wasn't constantly flashing my biometrics at me I would get one of these yummy pastries every day. But alas, it is only a weekly stop. The service is great. The staff is super friendly and quick, making it a great stop before work to get my sugar and caffeine fix. This is an excellent addition to the Ludlow strip. read more

Two Seven Two is my favorite part of Cincy. I took a quick trip with some friends over to Cincinnati, and I could not stop talking about these pastries. My friends and I arrived before open, which I'd highly recommend, and waited in line for about 5 minutes. The gentleman working was so kind in directing us where to line up. Upon entering, he gave us all kinds of welcome recommendations and was absolutely lovely to each and every customer. I ordered an iced coffee, and a Twice Baked Almond & Oat Chocolate Croissant. The interior of the shop has very little seating, but we were directed to sit on the back patio, which was absolutely lovely and shaded. This tiny Clifton Gaslight bakery has impressed me each visit. The offerings include classics like snickerdoodle cookies (delicious - try one!) to creative croissants and focaccia using seasonal ingredients. Just had a croissant with delicata squash that blew my mind! And when I say unique, I mean it: a five-spice "squiggle" with lime curd was the pastry I didn't know I needed; so fun and zesty! Fresh house-made bread is also available, but I have yet to try it! There's a coffee bar featuring the standards like cortado and cold brew, plus matcha and house made syrups for seasonal drinks. The seating is cozy (three indoor tables) with a large window facing the busy sidewalk and Ludlow Avenue. Peep through the wall of windows facing the kitchen where you can watch the bakery magic happening! A walk-up window is available to passersby, and a secluded back patio is the perfect spot to enjoy your treats on a warm day. On each visit my husband, toddler, and I have shared a few pastries and have been pleasantly delighted! My only suggestion: have prices listed so people can keep track of how much they are spending - it's easy to want one of everything, and although not cheap, everything is worth the price!
