I can barely talk about the health care system without going into cardiac arrest. We are just the most fucked up, backwards, inhumane country when it comes to this issue. I know, I'm singing to the choir. Still, if my mother asks me one more time why I can't get health insurance, i'm going to shove my hand through a wall, and then not get proper medical care, and lose the use of my hand, possibly develop a staph infection, and die a slow painful death because it would have cost me 70,000 dollars out of pocket just to be admitted to the hospital that is literally right around the corner from my house. I cannot get health insurance, plain and simple. I am self employed, with pre-existing conditions, that includes getting prescribed allergy medicine (flonase, Zyrtec) 3 years ago. I met Brad a few years ago when I worked as the benefits administrator for a small software company. I was immediately impressed by his "realness". I felt like he totally understood our needs and often anticipated needs even before we could fully articulate them. He is very responsive and resourceful, and I always felt it was his genuine mission to help us find the best solution for our company's needs. He never tried to steer us in one direction or the other for personal gain. As others reviewers have mentioned, he is paid broker fees by insurance companies. You do not pay anything extra to use his service, but save a lot of time and hassle. He can cut through red tape, and is very knowledgeable about all the options out there. Brad helped me implement a comprehensive insurance plan for our staff of 23, giving us multiple health plans to choose from, plus dental and vision. He came in and met with employees to explain plan options in more detail and even created a benefits at a glance grid incorporating all the plan options (saving me hours of effort and headache doing this myself.) A few months down the line we added more employees out of state, and he helped me talk them all through the insurance forms and plans via on-line conferencing. Whenever an employee had a coverage issue, or we needed extra support working through some glitch with a carrier, Brad was always available to advocate on our behalf and help resolve things. When our company (sadly) went out of business recently, Brad helped me find an individual plan for myself and my family. Brad was extremely knowledgeable about all the different types of health insurance out there, and helped me quickly find the best one that I would qualify for. If you've ever delved into the world of health insurance, and tried to figure it all out yourself, you'll know that this is no small feat. Initially, I tried applying for insurance by myself, using one of the online insurance sites. I pored through online insurance information, wasted several hours applying for different insurance packages online, and got rejected every time for ridiculous reasons, with incomprehensible explanations. Brad talked to me for about 5 minutes and was immediately able to recommend a plan, email me the application, and then submitted it before the end of that day. I was approved within a few days and finally don't have to worry about it anymore! Best of all, his broker fee is baked right in to your insurance premium. As a former Big Four consultant who has exposure working with many, many professionals in the field, Brad is exceptional. In 2016, I was the HR / benefits administrator at a software startup of ~40 employees, and one of the company's major perks was to offer 100% medical, dental, and vision paid benefits for employees. There are numerous ways that a company could go wrong here, but trusting that Brad would be there to assist helped relieve a huge weight on my shoulders. Day or night, I could call or e-mail Brad, and he'd have an immediate solution very quickly in his response, usually within minutes or hours. Brad is embracing better technology and tools for his clients, which is an absolute bonus and a time saver, and an outlier for companies his size. Even after I left the company, I personally had an onslaught of medical and dental providers, billing, and issues including dealing with a nasty situation with getting COBRA in effect after I returned from an overseas trip. Brad gave me solid advice on handling the costs, the providers. I do not write reviews for yelp often. That's to say that it takes above and beyond service/relationship/experience for me to make the effort to do so. My husband and I were both self employed when we reached out to Brad for help in choosing our health insurance. That year we were also planning on a pregnancy and wanted to make sure we had the kind of coverage that would support that medical experience. Not only was Brad responsive he took the time to really understand our needs and our budget and made excellent recommendations for our insurance. He really held the process through to the end: He made it turn key and easy, he kept us updated on our applications, he answered all of our little and big questions along the way and made us feel like we were his only client. But, the gem of this whole story is that we had a nightmare of a situation with Blue Shield when we tried to cancel our old plans for these new plans. Even though they were not our agent when we purchased those plans they helped us unravel, solve and get our money back from Blue Shield who was refusing to help us after months and hours on the phone. I met Brad Vaccaro of Allpointe by chance at a community meeting at which he was presenting a summary of health care options in the new Universal Health Care system. I needed to purchase health insurance on my own for the first time ever (I had always had it through an employer), and on top of that I was in a year of financial transition, having just moved, and was in the process of stabilizing my income. This made projecting my income for a health insurance application difficult, as well as finding an affordable option, and I was feeling pretty pessimistic about the whole process. I hadn't realized until that point that I could work with an insurance broker for free (apparently there is built-in financing for "free advice" with our new, more-challenging-to-navigate health care system). I was a little skeptical but found Brad to be friendly and approachable. I was concerned that the fact that I wanted to spend as little money as possible - including considering not purchasing insurance at all - might be a reason that he would not want to work with me, but he was understanding and willing to consider the full range of financial options with me. In advising me, Brad was most concerned about best fit for my needs, and that was the best part about working with him. He was also knowledgeable and responsive and spent a significant amount of time talking with me on the phone and responding to many questions in many emails. Since I started working with Brad in late 2013, Brad suggested on a range of options that included a few stall tactics in which I could delay the purchase of insurance until a few months into 2014. Based on his advise I was able to find extremely low-cost, mostly-local coverage through February 2014 and delay purchase of a plan until March 2014. At this point I had a few more facts about my income and what I could afford. I would highly suggest going to an insurance broker if you are in need of getting your own insurance. I called several brokers. Some didn't call me back. One quickly sent the forms and then I never heard from them again. One emailed me, but then disappeared for weeks. Now he keeps calling me harassing me. The others didn't really answer my questions or just confused me. Brad from Allpointe called me back that day and was able to answer all of my questions and more. I felt like he actually was listening to me. I was happy that I had this service. He emailed me the two plans that I could try to apply for. I have pre existing conditions, so who knows what will happen. I had questions so we emailed back and forth with one final phone meeting. He doesn't have an office so it is all email/fax/phone. It may take a few days to get in touch with him, which can be stressful in a stressful situation. So far that has been the only negative. But when you get to talk, he knows his stuff and will help you. The forms can be tricky to fill out and makes it much more clear. He definitely is the most knowledgeable.
