I contacted two independent agents and one brand-name insurance company. I was shocked at the price range for the same coverage. Jason Brofford at Detweiller-Brofford Insurance checked with different companies to get us the best deal, and the insurance he found for us was $1000 cheaper. We accepted pretty quickly! Every year when it's time to renew, Jason again looks around to find us the lowest price for coverage. This year, our policies are with Erie Insurance, top-rated for homeowners Insurance in the August 2017 issue of Consumer Reports magazine. In addition to saving us money big time, we've been happy with Detweiller's customer service. Emails are answered promptly and a human being picks up the phone. The adjuster recommended this shop. On e the car was there, they gave me an estimate of around $8k. Once the adjuster looked for the cheapest parts and waited months to get them the estimate went closer to $5k. The body shop told the adjuster that the headlights that were ordered were not working correctly. The adjuster told them to use them anyway. When I got the car back it was several months before I drove in the dark and the headlights were pointed toward the ground. I took it back to be adjusted. The adjustment was all the way up, because they were faulty headlights and were unable to be adjusted up. I could not see any farther than 15 ft in front of me. Try driving at 65 mph and not being able to see. The adjuster save money and did not care about someones life in jeopardy. As long as he got his paycheck and got a pat on the back for saving money. He should be terminated and the 1st adjuster I talked with should be re trained at the very least. An insurance company should have the customers in mind and not the paycheck. But, unfortunately this is how it is in the world today. No one cares..

Flanagan only had two (recommended and) positive reviews. I got a quote over the phone and later by email. I ended up going with Flanagan for their price first. I now own two properties in Ohio, and they are both insured through Flanagan. I have had a number of policy questions come up since I first became a customer, as has also happened with my other properties. But unlike with some other insurers, Flanagan is always prompt in their replies, on the point, and as I just learned, will not try to upsell even when you ask them whether you need additional coverage - but will tell you what you need, even if not from them/to their own benefit. While they are also licensed in some other states, I only wish they were licensed in those where I have other properties. At least I know I am in good hands (I hope it's not a trademark) in Ohio.
