Two decades of paying my premiums and never missing a single payment. I recently changed bank accounts and did exactly what I was supposed to do. I logged into their website and updated my payment information. Apparently, they failed to properly process the update. The result? My payment didn't go through for the first time in more than 20 years. Instead of contacting a longtime customer and giving me an opportunity to correct what was clearly a payment-information issue, they canceled my insurance, dropped me as a customer, and charged me late fees on top of it. Twenty-plus years of loyalty apparently means absolutely nothing to this company. What makes this especially unacceptable is that I UPDATED MY PAYMENT INFORMATION. I didn't ignore a bill. I didn't refuse to pay. I didn't suddenly stop making payments. Their system failed to properly process the banking information I provided, and somehow I'm the one being penalized for it. If this is how they treat someone who has been with them for more than two decades and has a spotless payment history, imagine how they'll treat you when you actually need them to work with you. Customer loyalty clearly means nothing here. After 20+ years, they lost a customer over a single payment issue caused by an update to my banking information. Absolutely disgraceful customer service.

When I inquired if rates for customers who have not had accidents and vehicles that are garaged with low mileage are rated. She was very condescending and spoke to me as if I was a child. I asked her several times to please try to understand that I just wanted to know how and why my rate was approaching 3000 dollars. She was rude and informed me that her coworker was listening. She was terrible and at the end informed me that she would review my policy and call me back and hung up. Customer Service appears to be a thing of the past. The only two claims I have ever had with Arbella were two homeowner claims in the last three years (for $16k ice dam damage in 2015 and $7k for damage from a pinhole leak in a copper pipe) but this was enough for them to decide (at first) not to renew my policy. After posting this review on Yelp! I received a phone call from Bearingstar Insurance, agent for Arbella. They have now offered to renew my policy and I have accepted their offer. I am grateful for their follow-up to my complaint on social media, although it would have been even better had they listened the first time when I called them up after receiving my notice of non-renewal. I have therefore raised my rating to three stars and thank Megan (who commented on this review) for her assistance in this matter.

So now, not only did I lose an $8k vehicle they've stuck me with a $2600 rental car bill. I asked to be contacted by a supervisor because David was NO Help. He just ghosted me not once but 2 times! I wouldn't use this insurance company. Considering I could have died. I was lucky to not get injured but we were both going about 40miles an hour for an almost head on collision.
