This is the worst insurance company I've ever had to deal with...No one knows anything it's always not their department...I had an accident over a year ago and still don't know what's going on.... then this lady tells me to be professional as if I'm the one at work dealing with customers and hangs up in my face.... wow some professional you are... in the face of danger u run verses helping your upset customer.... damn shame.... Can't give zero stars. Been with Allstate & Terry Mitchel since 2013, he has NEVER returned a call, I'm shocked when he or anybody picks up the phone, if I leave a message it's a waste of my breath because nobody will return my call. I have stopped by the office and it's always closed, if I'm in alameda I try to remember to drive by to see if the business is even open, I'm always expecting a for lease sign, haven't see the for lease sign but also haven't seen any indication that anybody ever uses the office either. I spoke to him one time specifically about his non returned calls l, nobody answering the phone nobody returning my email and he blamed it on his cell phone service. He said that they don't have a hard wired phone that they use cell phones so they can be at our service even off business hours... does anybody else see the BS in that or is it just me? If he was at me service ever he would return my calls & what kind of a real brick and mortar business doesn't have a hard wired phone? This is ridicules! I don't even call often maybe once a year at most to find out why the main office is leaving me phone messages. I couldn't be any lower maintenance except one time 3 years ago I was hit by a rock or something and cracked the windshield, one time, one claim, and couldn't get ahold of him so called the main phone number and they told me I HAD to talk to my agent. Well I've officially had enough, I'm happy with Allstate but changing agents to one on here with great reviews specifically reg. answering the phone and answering customer questions. read more

I have had an auto and renters policy with Terry for several years. I am a low maintenance customer and yet whenever I call to speak about either policy, Terry has not once called me back. This morning, when I called and asked if my message was retrieved from yesterday, the secretary said she didn't know - that Terry wasn't in the office yet. It's 10:45am in the middle of the week. The irony is that I constantly receive requests in the mail from him to recommend him to my friends and neighbors. Terry - if you are reading this, you should know that the only thing you have to sell is service. Your office does not even provide basic service and you lost a customer today because of it. I would not recommend Terry Mitchell as your AllState agent. read more

I have been with Terry for a while as well and I think that my family is a pretty low maintenance client. We have several policies with Terry yet he NEVER returns our calls. It is quite unsettling how unresponsive he is. Very unprofessional. I even stopped by his office once it - not impressed. Very old and dirty. I would not recommend him at all. WORST customer service ever! I had a home owners policy and a my boat insurance through Allstate for almost 10 years. I walked in and got my policy from Terry. All they ever had to do was take my money. I never had a claim or had to contact them till this year. They were cancelling my boat policy. My payment of both policies did not get applied towards both policies. So I called to clear it up. It took me 2 weeks to get a hold of Terry. The assistant said I had to talk to him. She finally got a message to him and he sent me a new policy in the mail. He still did not attempt to contact me. I called after receiving the new policy wondering why it was so much more and he was out of the office for another week. When I finally caught him on the phone he tried to tell me he had not got any of my messages. I would not let him think this was an excuse, I you got my messages, do not blame your assistant. Finally it was discovered that my original boat coverage was incorrect. The next letter was from the main office saying they could not renew my boat policy or issue me a new policy because of the "LAPS IN COVERAGE". ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!?! Laps in coverage created by your company error. We are talking a few months laps in the winter months! Not once did they offer any options for me. Only saying they could no longer provide coverage to me. I will never do business with Allstate again, you are NOT in good hands and Terry personally is the reason I have taken my business elsewhere! You should be much more attentive to your customers, there are PLENTY of Insurance companies out there dying to get my business. read more

I tried to give this joker all my insurance business including two property rentals, auto, motorcycle, boat, and umbrella. He said he would be back to me on two occasions that afternoon. Never heard back. I guess business must really be good for him to blow off customers. read more

Reading the reviews below and I question if they must be mistaken with another Allstate location. I've switched from State Farm to Allstate about 4 years ago. I've had nothing but great experiences with Terry Mitchell and Lidice Lopez. Low maintenance client for the most part. I recently purchased a new car and had several questions. Lidice and Terry were able to help answer all my questions, like any company or office, there are time were it gets busy. I simply left them a voicemail and either Terry or Lidice returned my call within Minutes. I am a very happy customer and would recommend to my family and friends! read more

From the looks of it, my experience with this agent is much like the rest of the unsatisfied (former) customers chiming in on Yelp. I'd been with Allstate for more than a decade, moving from state to state. We're very low maintenance clients as well, only filed maybe one claim in all that time. When I did need to contact Allstate, they insisted I deal with my local agent, Terry. He never returned my calls, so I tried emailing his office. After three attempts, he did write back to say he was out of the office that week but would get back to me when he returned (spoiler: no, he did not get back to me). I even tried just stopping by the office itself, which was not open. Allstate's 800 number had to deal with me after all, but didn't really seem very concerned when I brought this up to them. After it happened a second time (I was trying to add an item onto my renter's policy), I just tired of the nonsense and switched insurance companies altogether. My new agent is happy to to get back to me when I want to give them money! read more

I don't know what everyone else is talking about on here. I have had my insurance policy with this office since moving to California almost 4 years ago and I always get an answer when I call. On top of that, today I needed a new proof of insurance with my new insurance policy information after moving from Oakland to SF and getting married which changed my last name and this office had it emailed to me in under 5 minutes so I could keep my place in line at SFMTA. I got my parking permit in time to get to work and the person who talked to me was super friendly and helpful. That is customer service at it's finest. Daniel is who answered the phone and helped me. After 7 years, I finally dropped him. All insurance salesmen get commissioned on the new client. That means the old client doesn't get returned calls and doesn't get to talk to the agent, only the receptionist, Fabiola. When I purchased a new car and tried to add it, they cancelled all of my other policies. It was a nightmare of rudeness between speaking to India, Texas and Fabiola at Terry's. I'll get right back to you, we're the last words out of her mouth. That was about a year ago! Now I'm with state farm and have been very happy. I moved all five policies over to them...And I'm saving $$$! Still haven't heard back from terry or Fabiola. I'm in the process of canceling my life insurance as it is the only policy Terry is still getting commissioned on and I don't want to support him. Bottom line, insurance is supposed to be there to fix problems, not disappear when you need them...especially when their clerical error is to blame for the issue. read more
