I have had several mani/pedi's here and they did a fantastic job! You ask why a one star? One of the girls there said this to my 20 year old daughter....."your mom said you are depressed because you are fat.". First off this statement was a flat out lie. Secondly, even if it was said to her why would you say this to a young woman? That was the last time I stepped through Allure's doors. They are unbelievable gossips. I booked an appointment with my mom, sister, and two bridesmaids for 2pm the day of my rehearsal dinner for manis and pedis. My rehearsal was at 6pm. One of my bridesmaids had the misfortune of getting the manager for her pedi. She was the last to start and got up at least 3 times to answer the phone or cash someone out. Eventually she had someone come over to finish the pedi. She came back for my mani. Again answered the phone at least once. Others who had walked in way after us were done and gone at this point. At a quarter after 4pm, I started to panic. I needed to go home and get my wedding dress prior to the dinner. I had tears in my eyes when it reached 4:30 and still needed a few coats. We had to leave before one of my bridesmaids nails were done drying. We went to pay and they lied about the mani/pedi combo price. My mom tried working with them while I had to leave. They also put back the nail polish I brought in back on their shelves. I had to redo my friends nails after the rehearsal dinner. I would never recommend this place even for a walk in since they lied about the pricing. read more

I had a fantastic pedicure there. The price is reasonable ($28), the staff is very friendly, and the place is very clean. Sue was absolutely wonderful. The place was packed, so you definitely need to make an appointment. But they have one wall full of pedicure chairs and one wall full of manicure stations, so things moved pretty quickly. The only down side is that the parking lot there is small, and there was not an available spot when I first came in. I highly recommend this place. read more

I paid $3 extra for them to use nail polish that supposedly was supposed to last for 7 days...2 days later, my nails started to chip like crazy. I know manicures don't usually last long, but if a salon claims it will last up to 7 days and charges extra, I would expect it to last at least 6 days. read more

I went in the day before my wedding and showed them a pic of what I wanted and they said "no problem." I got through the pedi but 85% in to the mani, after several attempts, they said they couldn't do what I asked for. I was literally sitting there with dried plain clear gel polish. They got very annoyed when I showed them pics of alternatives I was willing to go with; at one point, the gentleman slammed down his tools and said "I can't do that!" Needless to say I left unhappy. Service: I got Shelac removed and a regular manicure. They scrubbed way too hard and did not do a thorough job before applying the color for the manicure. The coat of color they applied was also not precise and I had to direct the manicurist. My manicurist did not speak English and it was difficult to communicate instructions. I have never left a review before but I have to for this salon. Please Stay away from this place. I have been doing fiberglass and acrylic nails for a long time and never had any issues. I got my nails filled and left yellow marks on my nails. When I came back to get them fixed they said it was my lotion. They are not sanitary either. All their tools do not get sterilization and when they do pedicures they do not wear gloves and switch from person to person with out washing their hands. Going to this place may give you a risk of nail infection. Thank God I never Got one. read more

*Stay away from this place!!!* VERY UNPROFESSIONAL My sisters and I wanted to treat my 5 year old to her very 1st mani and pedi. After calling this place to see if they accommodate small children and they said yes, we drove 20 mins just to get there and they put her in the chair but it's a regular size chair. I'm like ok well maybe if they will adjust the chair and it won't be so uncomfortable. NOT!!! They did nothing to adjust it!! As she's sitting there waiting she splashes water on the floor the man proceeds to speak to her in a tone I didn't feel comfortable with. Remember she's 5, waiting in the chair, and uncomfortable because she's too small for the chair. Ok fine as we're waiting I decided ok well this isn't a very good experience let's just paint the nails and leave. I tell him that I changed my mind about her having the pedicure and he BLOWS up about the fact that I had him run water into the bowl and now I'm changing my mind. As we're leaving my baby goes to say mom he's a bully. We only went to this shop because they were open on a Sunday and stayed open a little longer than other places. I am new to the area and was looking for a decent place for a mani-pedi. I should have paid attention to the more negative reviews. I was seated right away (positive). The pedicure was pretty good (positive). The price once I added tip was a lot higher than I have paid for a mani-pedi ever. My fingernail were chipped the next morning and weren't even painted to the cuticle. I decided to remove the polish in 2 days because it looked so bad. It's now 2 weeks later and my nails are peeling. I typically have strong nails and usually have to file them down be to prevent them from breaking. I do not get gel nails because of the straight acetone that is used to remove them will dry your nails out and polish typically stays on my natural nail fairly well. I was allowed to put my tip on a credit card, but not before I was given a look for asking. I will be looking for a different place to get my toes and nails done. read more

I used to go to Allure very regularly, but stopped going so frequently when I had a child and my life got busier. My schedule just opened today and I stopped in for a pedi, eye arch and lip wax. I was very disappointed in the place since my last visit. My pedicure went well and the technician (the eldest of the four women there) was very kind, gentle and thorough. However that was the only positive part of my experience. The woman who gave me the brow and lip wax, dripped wax in my brow, and then had to scrape the hair on my brow to get the wax out, thus pulling hairs out in the middle of the brow. She did not apologize or explain this, but instead pointed out a flaw in the growth of my brow as if to draw attention from her mistake and, as I took it, put the blame on the way my brow was growing or my last wax procedure. (My brows are uneven now!) She also loudly chewed her gum during the whole procedure and if you have ever had your eye arch done, you know how closely the technician must stand to your ears and face. Additionally while I was there,one male employee answered the phone and told the caller he was very busy. Granted, I did not know what was scheduled, however it was just past noontime on a Thursday and there was one other client in the building. That other client had made an appointment. She arrived soon after me only to find her technichian was not in at the time. Someone else began her pedicure and the originally booked tech suantered in during the pedicure and acted as if it was not a big deal that she was not prepared for the scheduled apointment. I could not find a price menu posted and was quoted two different prices for my services while in the store. The physical appearance of the space has gone down also since I was last there. It is overall dirtier and less "kept" than before. Considering there were 2-3 employees doing nothing but sitting on their various media devices during my visit, the place could have been getting cleaned while they sat. Due to the demise of the customer service and general condition of this establishment since my last visit, I will be looking for a different place. Under stress to be fast, I accidentally headed into Allure this weekend. (I must have forgotten my experience described above.). Sadly, it has gone down even further. The only staff member who was the same as before appeared to be the owner. She was wearing pajama bottoms as pants! I should have apologized for expecting her to be out of bed at noon! The physical appearance of the establishment was worse than before. It appeared unkept and overall, dirty. Needless to say, I quickly left without asking for any services. I don't get my nails done a lot because honestly, most salons intimidate me. Usually you walk in, they barely acknowledge your existence, and talk cattily to each other in another language, of course about you in your mind. Allure Salon made a regular out of me today. I walked in and there was an hour wait, but I stayed because I could tell it was different. The decor is very nice, and has a great atmosphere. Almost every woman that walked in they greeted by name and were excited to see her. The woman that did my nails was extremely friendly and happy to do anything I asked. I got a full acrylic set, and actually got a small hand massage in the middle...which I've NEVER gotten elsewhere! No matter how busy they were, they weren't trying to rush anyone- they get that women like to do this to be pampered, and they tried to make each woman feel that they were. I was honestly blown away and will definitely be going back now. Prices seem to be a tad higher than other places, but it's worth it. Full acrylic set was only $30. read more

I consistently come back here every month because other places I've visited in Indy don't compare. And the pricing is great. The staff are experienced, pleasant and the results are fabulous (there was only one worker that left me slightly dissatisfied once but I make sure I don't get her even though it might have been a fluke?) My hands are always dry and hard because I have to frequently wash my hands at work and my feet are calloused from being on my feet all day long. But after a trip here, my hands and feet are so smooth and my nails are super pretty!! I get compliments all the time and after I told my friends where I go they go here too now lol. Make sure to call for an appointment ahead although sometimes they are able to take walk ins (how I dunno because they're always so busy). If I had to nit pick at them, it'll probably be appointments can run 10-15 minutes late but that's due to how busy they are and the quality they take with their guests. Basically don't schedule an appointment if you're short on time. Oh and make sure to carry cash so you can tip because they can't add tip on the credit card (I felt so bad one time when because I didn't have any cash on me) read more

I have been going to Allure for about three years. It was my favorite place to go for mani-pedi and a relaxing hour or so. The staff was so friendly and we would be able to chat for ever! I loved the quality of service and prices...UNTIL, new ownership. Last time I went I waited 30 minutes in the pedi chair before I was even greeted By a nail tech. They only greeted me because I started to get up and leave. Then I saw them bring out the cheese graters for people's feet! Noooooooo! Ladies and gentlemen, please be careful with the razors and graters, it's not good for you and bring sanitary issues with it! I was also saddened by the difference of the employee mentality. It was shifted from a customer service, friendly environment, to one of an assembly line of hands and feet to paint. The long time employees who even knew me didn't say hello or even have a smile on their face. Very sad. Finally, my nails were okay, but not to the standard as they have been in the past. The new tech cut my cuticles too short so I started having hang nails a few days later. I want old management back!!! read more

I give this nail salon 4 stars because I am happy with my gel manicure every time I leave. I live downtown and drive all the way up to 86th to get a gel mani here. Most of the places downtown are $60 or$70 for a gel mani, seriously? At Allure, they are precise and neat--for someone who is extremely OCD about a manicure (hey, i'm paying right?) this is a plus for me! I personally have never been treated so rudely in my life. The lady that did my nails was lovely, but the blonde lady at the counter was down right mean. I hope she is not the owner, because I can only be worried how she treats her own employees if she treats her customers the way she did us. We made appointments and asked if we could get shellac done once we got there. I understand it may take longer but I've never had to specify anywhere else. She said we were in 30 min time slots- I watched the clock it only took 5 extra minutes. She could have said no, but she allowed us. I wish she would have just said no because she continued to rant to the technicians for at least 15 minutes while we were within earshot about what we made reservations for vs what we asked for. Move past it lady, you made us feel uncomfortable the entire time. We will never be back. read more

New Owner...New Environment...New Quality. I will be looking for a new nail salon or take my business to my nail techs new salon. With new ownership came a variety of changes. (1) the salon has gone from a 95% appointment driven to a walk-in chop shop (2) the newly hired nail techs, that replaced the ones whom have moved on, seem to lack the standard of excellence I once loved. I tried to give it a solid effort seeing that jackie, one of the prior owners, still kept her book of business in the shop. However, during my most recent appointment last week, I was informed that Hannah would be parting...that did it for me. Note: the new owner did my nails based on 'scheduling issues' and I was highly disappointed. If it wasn't broke...Why....The lady next to me in the pedicure chair shared she received calls to come earlier or later for her scheduled appointments several times over the last month or so. This type of new management style will have loyal clients retracting - it reads unprofessional at a certain degree. I presume it is time for those who enjoyed the previously held high quality, professionalism, and cultivating atmosphere to seek other options for it is clear the new owner has new business objectives. read more

I stopped in here on a Saturday to get a gel mani pedi. They were able to accommodate me immediately. One thing I liked is that they have matching gel colors, to the regular nail polish for the pedicures. This is one of the best mani pedis I have ever received. However, I was not pleased to learn *after* that the services were cash only. I am even more frustrated to see on other reviews that they do in fact take credit cards. I was told to go use an ATM down the street, which required me to drive with the toe seperaters in place. I understand CASH tips but requiring your patrons to pay cash and not informing them prior to their service isn't cool. I spent well over $50 and definitely did not have $50 in cash on me. 3 stars for the great service, but had to subtract two for the inconvenience of having to leave the salon to get cash. after recently moving to the area, i was looking for a new nail salon to get a shellac manicure. i found allure nails on yelp and saw some decent reviews, so i called for an appointment and they were able to fit me in that day. i have to say, i was a bit taken aback when i called. the woman who answered the phone seemed all over the place, and when i asked to make an appointment she seemed almost like i was inconveniencing her - she said "oh gosh well hold on then i will have to have one of the girls check the book." still, i was excited to get an appointment that same day. she told me i would have an appt with Lilly for a shellac, and to be prepared for it to take about an hour. i got there a few minutes before my appointment, and it was pretty crowded. i checked in and one of the girls told me to pick out a color. after i picked my color, it was a bit confusing as i was just sitting there waiting. several girls looked at me and awkwardly said hello, but no one told me where lilly was or where to sit. immediately, i could pick out the woman who answered the phone - she was just as all over the place in person - not very friendly and was running all over the place. she seemed to have run a credit card of a guest but couldn't remember whose card it was and she was asking all of the manicurists to come look at it - while they were busy tending to the guests of the salon. i felt a bit awkward and thought the woman should have been trying a bit harder to keep quiet and not bother the guests or the manicurists - i don't think anyone wanted to hear the internal issues she was discussing loudly. after about 10 minutes, i finally was told to take a seat. Vivian ended up helping me and she was great! the bottle of polish i picked out was not the best, so she went and got a different brush and another jar of the same color to make sure my nails were done properly and looked good. she was so nice and did a great job. i went to pay the woman at the desk, and again was greeted with unfriendliness! i gave her my credit card and she returned it asking me to sign. i asked her where to put the tip and she looked at me like i had 5 heads and rudely said "you can only leave tips in cash"..... i NEVER carry cash! this was my first time here (which i had told this woman on the phone when i made my appointment) and i had no idea about this rule for cash only tips...would have been nice to know. i usually am a very generous tipper - and i especially wanted to make sure Vivian got a good tip since she took such care to make sure i was happy with my manicure. i asked where the nearest ATM was, so that i could go get some cash and come back to leave Vivian a tip. the woman said "i have no idea" and was so unhelpful, not to mention rude. i think i was honestly just so in shock from her rudeness that i stood there for a second, and vivian came up and was so sweet. she told me it was an inconvenience to have that rule and she didn't want me to have to go out and then come all the way back. she hugged me and said to just bring it to her next time.....the entire time the lady at the desk was just glaring at me. i am sure i am not the first person who did not have cash for a tip.... the only reason i would go back here is to give vivian her tip! she did a great job, and unfortunately the rude woman ruined my experience. read more
