This is for the New York Street location in Aurora. Couldn't find it on Yelp tho. Called the Frontenac location about getting a henna tattoo and she had me call the NY St location. I made an appointment for later that day. The girl who did my tattoo ..I wish I had gotten name... was so nice and so talented. She did an amazing job and did it pretty quick, I thought. This place is terrible. I used to come here for a long time and Parveen used to do my eyebrows but then she moved to her own salon but they never shared where she worked whenever I would ask. Regardless, I kept coming back and was always disappointed in the service. But it was God's miracle that I went to Oswego Walmart (despite my regular Walmart) and Parveen was working at Em Lash Studio. I was so happy I wanted to cry from joy. So if you were like me and only went for Parveen, then she is there, but otherwise Allure is up to no good. I used to come here for so long back when the owner's daughter was losing weight so I would feel welcomed because being a plus-sized girl, they were very respectful. Now? She's lost weight and all the girls there think they're so amazing and everything. Even the bigger lady at the salon tried telling me to cut down eating, even though she was twice my size. Hypocritical! We come to the salon to relax and get tidied up, instead this place makes you feel inferior and they are very unwelcoming. All the reviews talking about how no one wears masks or they all gossip, those are 100% accurate. Save your money because the $5 brows are NOT worth it at all!!! Zero stars for this one. Gossipy employees who make fun of every client after they leave. Two employees ganged up on me, raising their voices and creating a scene - failing to honor the quotes they gave me. Even when I insisted to pay (and get out of that place) what they demanded - they continued to lecture and try to justify the change in quote. Not acceptable at any level. Extremely unprofessional. I have friends who live in the area and had warned me of the awful behavior. So, this is not unusual of them. The reason I ignored and choose to try them was because they offer henna hair dyes which I needed. But surely I can find a much decent place that can offer that minus the low class attitude. read more

I'm actually sad to give Allure 1 star. I've been to Allure several times before and the service has been great -- the owner I think of the Naperville location is very nice. Today though when I went in the lady who helped me (her name starts with an S) was incredibly rude to me. For starters, she pretty much told me I looked bad. She said (and I quote exactly) "You would look better if you got a facial." I'm not sure what kind of business tactic this is, but if you're trying to get your customers to spend more money, maybe don't tell them that they look bad? She continued to rant about how I have dry skin -- even when I told her that my dry skin was due to eczema not lack of care or cosmetic reasons -- and she just couldn't quit telling me that I would look better if my skin wasn't so dry. When I left, I gave the lady a tip -- a $2 tip for that matter which is almost 50% tip on the $5 eyebrow thread. I didn't realize that one of the dollars I handed to her had a small rip and she handed the money back to me. Unless I'm forgetting, I thought a dollar was a dollar no matter if there was a rip. I handed it back to her and told her that it can still be used and that I was very sorry (I didn't even know it had a rip, it must've ripped in my wallet) and she rolled her eyes at me. It's safe to say that I will definitely not be going back to Allure the days she works (PSA she works Thursday's and Saturday's), and will only be going when the owner is in because she's friendly, polite, and not pushy. For Allure: please make sure your employees are respectful because there's nothing worse than bad service. Thank you. read more

I came in and almost all of the workers had their masks off or were wearing them below their mouth, so I thought I didn't need one. However when I sat down, they sent me back to my car to get my mask. It wasn't a big deal, but more customers walk in without masks and nothing is said to them. Finally, the worker that I paid with wasn't even wearing a mask?! How can they require customers to wear masks when the employees aren't wearing masks themselves?? Absolutely ridiculous, I was one of the only people in the store who was required to wear a mask simply because of my eyebrow lady's preference. I usually do not add reviews but this place was my salon for years, and now O don't ho there anymore. After the change of this salon's ownership, the quality of their services went down. The worst was that the skin of my hands got burnt with their henna and they didn't want to take the ownership. I have had their henna on me for many years but with new owner Ia not sure of they bought henna from cheap sources with more chicals or what, but I had a horrible experience. I do not recommend this place especially for henna. read more

Gotta love it here! It's almost humorous how you are treated...just like the other reviewers say, there is NO SERVICE! You are just a lump of flesh to be worked on! While the employees all chat amongst themselves you are pushed into the back of your chair, your arms are positioned to hold your eyelid as if you are a mannequin, and the threading commences. In between sentences you might be told "Other brow" or asked "Lip too?" but otherwise, DO NOT expect anything else to be said besides "ALL DONE"! The price is right though and I've never had a problem with getting in and out in less than 10 minutes! It is what it is---FAST no frills to the point CHEAP grooming! Gotta love it! read more

My hair colorist at a unnamed high end salon bailed on me twiced and I was in need to color ASAP. So I google salons near my home and came up with Allure.I picked this place becasue they could get me in today. This is my first visit to the Salon which is run by a very nice east indian lady named Shabana. All the staff was very nice and welcoming. They have a very diverse clientele so I felt right at home.I even chatted up a few of the customers that were having other services done and they seemed pleased with their results. I had an appointment for a hair cut and color touch up. They also do threading/waxing, facials and beautiful Henna tattoos . After consulting with the color chart we mixed two colors we thought would work best with what I currently had. Ghazala did both the color and my trim. I could not have been happier with both services. The color was gorgeous! Even the other customers commented how nice it looked which really made me feel good. To be clear this is not some high end bogue salon that's going to cost you hundreds of dollars and make you dry your own hair! But it's not a Great Clips either. If my results are any example of their typical work then I have found my new salon! Oh and did I mention the price's? The root touch up was $3o and the hair cut was $15! Oh and yes she dried my hair. LOL This retiree is done paying exorbitant prices at high end salons. I've been coming to this place for the last year and a half. They keep hiring new people every month and most of them see okay and do their job well. However maybe for the past few months they've hired someone who works on fridays and saturdays. Unfortunately I had to go on a Friday and get my eyebrows and upper lip threading and underarms waxing with her. She is not good at all!!!!!! She finished the threading within 2 minutes. Aka, lot of hairs were seen here and there around my eyebrows and she took so much off the sides. I ask/tell her that it's become too thin and she says that I can adjust by using an eyebrow pencil!!!!! What the hell ??!!! And now I've to wait for a couple weeks for it to grow out and look decent. Upper lips -- after coming home I noticed quite a few left around the lip line Underarms waxing --- had to apply 4 times on the same damn place and now my skin is ripped and burning. She cleaned it up with some solution which was also super sticky and didn't take the wax out entirely. Worst ever lady they've hired !!! If you get the time to get your stuff done on any other days of the week, then this is a good place. BUT, if you need some service on a Friday or a Saturday , avoid this place. read more

Ever since I discovered that eyebrows could be groomed, I've come here for threading. Frankly, I didn't think it was possible to find a place with comparable prices and quality. $5 for brows? Done and done. On my most recent visit, the lady begged to do my upper lip as well and said she wouldn't even charge me. Was it really that bad? :( In a sense, this salon is like fast food. You write down what you want, you sit down, they go at it, and you're done. The wait can be upwards of 30 min if they're busy (which I've only experienced once), but it's pretty much in and out. There's no small talk, minimal attention to you as a customer, but they do the job and seem to be having fun with each other. Sometimes I wonder also about the sanitation of everything. I always forget to pay attention, but I reaaaaaally hope they clean their hands after handling money. I wonder how many stray eyebrow hairs are on those chairs. Perhaps ignorance is bliss. Maybe just wash your face after you get home. read more

I've been going here to get my eyebrows threaded for years. They're more or less consistent, unless they get one of their temporary fill-ins to do them for you. That's when they get messed up. Make sure you go and figure out who does them best for you, and call to find out when they'll be in. It's worth it, and this place is pretty cheap. Be sure to ask for the aloe vera after you get your eyebrows done, as it'll ease the pain. The service, however, sucks. The ladies who work there barely pay attention to you. When you walk in, you have to put your name on a list, with what service you want. They only look at this list half the time. I've had people get their eyebrows done who have arrived 20 minutes after me. The fact that I've waited 30-45 minutes for a 5 minute eyebrow threading is ridiculous. Also, when you're in the seat, they'll stop in the middle of whatever they're doing to talk to another employee or talk on the phone. Not even appointment phone calls, but social calls as well. Horrendous service. Wish I could give it 2.5 stars, but I'll give them three since the job they do is okay. read more

I love coming here because of the $5 eyebrow threading and $3 upper lip! They're usually really accommodating and if you want specific changes to your eyebrows they're really welcoming. The employees at this location are some of the most rude and unprofessional I have ever come across. If you are not of their nationality they will brutally ignore you. My wife and I sat for over ten minutes just waiting for one of the five employees to put down their cell phones and acknowledge our mere existence. Once verified that I am in fact a solid mass of matter visible to the human eye, I was told to sit and wait for a cut. So we did.....For another fifteen minutes. During that time all five employees were sitting in their chairs playing on their cell phones, again. Towards the end of those fifteen minutes I watched 3 random individuals walk in, approach the counter for service, then be immediately seated and begin working. Everybody put down their phones and jumped for these three. Once they were seated the employees not working went back to their cell phones. So what is the secret to receive service at this location? Speak their language. Be of the same skin tone. I'm not a person who pulls out the race card for any reason other than blatant , I mean seething, discrimination. Do not even pull in the parking lot of this establishment. While most of us are out here fighting for equal rights and non discrimination laws on a daily basis these individuals are proudly displaying their racist banner. read more

Beware if you come here with the groupon deal. The lady demanded I tell her how much I paid for my groupon and then tried to charge me $20 extra dollars because my hair was "heavy". I have pretty thin hair and have NEVER had a salon charge extra. Plus I cut about 7 inches off before the color so there wan't much left! The girls also made snide remarks about me when my husband came in to get the $20 refunded back (he was more mad than I was and went back for it). She had me come in and did a strand test on me to make sure I really liked the color. Never charged me! You have to go to Allure. They take their time and really care. Prices are great, too. HORRIBLE!!!! I have never ever had such a bad experience with a face wax and eyebrow threading. I just happen to go here due to my other place not being available. 1) The lady who did my eyebrows was so rude and painful. Not only did she hurt me she did a HORRIBLE job with my eyebrows. Ruined them completely. 2) I also got a full face wax done and that was worse than the threading. The wax was so hot that it burned my skin and she ripped off the hair like she was doing my legs. The skin on the face is very sensitive compared to the rest of the body it should be done gently. When I complained to her she got mad and irritated and told me the wax is at normal temperature. AGAIN VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. This place is such a nightmare that I dont think I will ever step foot in this place again. Lesson learned read more
