For a single patio door Anderson quoted us around $20k and Almaden Widow quoted us approximately $5k. We recently had work done on our house by Almaden Windows and Doors. The process started with us contacting the company and visiting their show room and looking at different patio doors and windows. After that Ruben & Felipe stopped by our house and, after seeing state of our trim around the windows, recommended to get full frame replacement windows so trim can be also replaced during window installation. Initially we were just planning to replace patio doors and couple of windows, but realized that it will not look too good to have different types of windows in the house and decided to do all of them. It took us a bit of time, multiple visits to show room, and several discussions to finally sign the contract. We decided to go with Milgard Tuscany for patio doors and Milgard Triassic for the windows. We liked the life time warranty on the glass and the way windows and dors operated. As soon as windows were ordered we got installation date which was about 2 weeks out. Ruben & Felipe showed up on time as promised, covered work areas with plastic and started work. Every day they showed up on time, answered any questions we had, worked non-stop and made steady progress. It took about two weeks but result was better than we expected. All new windows were framed with new trim and casings inside the house. Our old patio door had 3 section, but Felipe advised us to go with two which really made a difference the way it looks. When they left, the house outside and inside was cleaned up from all the work materials. Overall we are very happy with the job they did. We could not find a single issue with anything they did. It obvious that they did this for years and years and have lots of experience to solve any issues. After a much lukewarm experience with another contractor to replace our patio doors, a friend of mine suggested I contact Robin to discuss replacement of all our windows. I found her to be really proactive and easy to deal with. She was much accommodating to our special requests, including ordering Andersen windows, a line they don't normally carry. For the installation, Jim demonstrated a high level of craftsmanship. Our painter even commented that Jim's work was one of the best trim work he had ever seen. The installation was done on-time and cleanly. I have to say this is one of my best experience dealing with a contractor in the Bay Area... Just completed my second fairly major project with AWD, and it was just as great as the first one (6 years ago)! This one was smaller in scope than the first one -- 2 windows and one slider, as opposed to a house full of windows + 2 sliders -- but much more complex because it required jumping through a lot of hoops set by the residence's HOA.
