Stay away from this contractor because they try to get you with an initial lowball offer only to jack up the price with surprise costs. We own four houses and work with a lot of contractors. We got one of them built from the ground up, so we have some good network of contractors who work for me. We respect them for their work and generally tend to find a good workable quality and pricing. Except these fellows at Anderson. AVOID THEM. Recently it was my third time with them - this aging JOHN fellow and DAVID, then show up at various premises like they're walking in their own gardens. No punctuality, no wisdom, general rudeness and no sense of business ethics. They have always taken weeks to provide quotes and their quotes have no proper details or justifications. When my staff tries to ask them they simply HANG UP. We have no trust or reliance left in them and we will not be sending my business their way in future. Wait for them to reply to this saying "I'm sure you're confusing us with someone else". That's what John keeps doing with all true reviews. Ignore him! read more

Andersen vs Anderson We had gotten a quote from 'Renewal by AndresEn' a few months ago and it was jaw dropping. Huge amount of money for only 3 windows. My neighbor suggested reaching out to 'AndersOn Window and Door'. For the same price, they replaced all 15 windows in our house and a sliding glass door. John was amazing to work with, answered all our questions and his crew was great!! So professional and respectful. The doors we purchased were same price as Pella quoted. So glad I went with Anderson. We have had a couple of issues with streaks in the glass. Anderson replaced the door without quibble or any push back. The original installation was on time and as agreed. I think what sets them apart is the warranty. Quick and thorough selection and ordering process. After receiving the quote it was very helpful to visit the showroom in SJ. We made a few changes that better fit the room and our budget. The 10 windows and slider are in and look great! They completely transformed a tired family room with 40 year-old cloudy windows into a beautiful room that looks like it's out of Architectural Digest. And I was really impressed by the installation team. They are permanent employees of the company with a lot of experience and knowledge on how to install these windows. They did a fantastic job: efficient, great attention to detail, and excellent craftsmanship. In the showroom Dave and the rest of the staff always greeted us warmly and were very informative and helpful in figuring out our remodeling project. We can't stress enough how helpful Dave was every step of the way! From the bidding process to picking out which windows and doors to choose, he was indispensable. Adliel, the foreman of the construction crew, and his team did amazing work very quickly and efficiently. We were particularly very impressed by how well they matched the texture of the new stucco around the new windows to the original stucco of the walls, which we were worried about beforehand. Many of our neighbors have rough, noticeable patching around their windows but ours are just about perfect and undetectable! It was just as Dave promised us! David, wasn't like a typical sales guy who sells you on the project and then disappears. They were all hands on deck to ensure that everything I wanted was exactly as promised. This was a very expensive project to install new front door, framing, and stucco. I was assured by the salesman this is a small family business and the owner is very hands on each project with the utmost professionalism. I had to provide my own door handle and hinges at the last minute. The stucco didn't match and now needs to be painted. There was tape left on both of the windows on the door and the door had Stucko on it from top to bottom I had to clean. I asked John the owner to come out to look and he did. He didn't offer to clean up the door or windows ( unless I provided razor). Very disappointed for the amount of money I spent on the quality of service, lack of follow through and communication. My wife and I were shopping to Replace patio doors about 8 years ago. The reason I am writing this is because we still have bitterness toward this company. They have great enticing ads and do quality work I'm sure and we expected as advertised a fair price replacing two average patio doors, nothing fancy. when they quoted us 8 to 9k we were blown away. and they were willing to negotiate down (like buying a used car) but not nearly enough. For those of you who already fell for there pitch I'm sure you are satisfied with the work but for those that are still contemplating We ended up haveing our doors replaced and installed for $1700 by a licensed contractor. even though Andersens warned us about lesser priced competition not being the same and having issues down the road we are happy to say they look as beautiful as the day they were installed with no issues or concerns. in our opinion they are way over priced and over rated. they use very good and professional Salesman to close the deal. Anderson came out to examine and discuss the repair of a door. Instead they tried to sell me new doors and windows. Wanted a cost for replacing frame and door (if necessary) but to use my old hardware. Never came back or called me. Bottom line, Anderson doesn't repair anything...they replace; at the cost of $4,000 per door, AFTER all the discounts. Surprising cost since this is very old technology, sprayed foam into a frame. If you do buy this door type, note that like particle board, once you break the foam setting the door is toast. read more

Had an excellent experience from estimate, ordering and install. This business is a full one-stop replacement center so, the estimate does not show all the details of materials and labor. However, I found that other installers hide costs and added after the fact, where as Anderson took care of any issues with install (no added cost). The finish on my 65 year old house looks amazing; stucco and sealants were flawless. As for the other woman reviewer - I too am female and had no issues with respect, timely call backs and professionalism all around. I handled all details with the team and had an excellent experience. Last but not least, the install came earlier than expected so I got it done before any major storms or weather. read more

My wife and I are going to enjoy the windows and back sliding door for many years to come! We replaced (new construction style) all of the aluminum framed windows and a sliding glass door in our Cupertino home. We were offered a number of choices and went with Marvin Ultrex, a high-quality fiberglass product. We are very pleased with the results of the work Anderson did. The installation team was very thorough and knew what they were doing. Some rotted wood on our home's exterior around the windows needed to be replaced. Anderson identified the problem, proposed a reasonable addition to the contract, and took care of the repair. That takes a nasty chore off of my to-do list! David the sales representative was knowledgeable, detail oriented and worked closely with me to help me find exactly the product that I was looking for. The owner of the company, John, came out and measured the windows himself before ordering. When it came to the install, the crews were friendly, professional and accommodating. As the work was completed during the shelter in place, they wore masks and worked around my kids distance learning classroom schedules. I also had them replace some broken parts on my old windows that I was not able to locate and adjust an existing French door. At every point, they met or exceeded my expectations! I do not recommend them since they were taken over, and at least for doors are not the same quality. I bought a very expensive glass and screen door; 2 parts at different times broke. One was plastic and replaced with plastic when it should be metal; the other was replaced by my handyman, Since then, the door has closed differently and better than before. Update on our windows installed over a year ago. The windows have been amazing; helping to keep us warm in winter and containing our cool air in summer (until we sold the place earlier this year). In all the time since our installation, we have not had a need to call on Anderson Window & Door Installation. The job was done professionally and they still look stunning. Thanks guys for the fabulous install. Oh, and I would just like to mention that I am not connected to this company in any way and did not get any kickbacks for my positive review. I just had a very good experience with this company and was eager to share it. And to "Mike" the arsehole yelper from down south who left me a message making accusations that I work for the company and making ridiculous statements based on his dealings with the company. He might like to ensure that 1. Firstly, he gets the company name right. I don't know why a person living in Florida (or whereever he was yelping from) had a person soliciting door to door from a company in Silicon Valley. We signed a contract with CDW (Cailforbia Deluxe Windows). They came in at $32K AND for 24 windows (we added more windows to job since the original post) + sliding door with dog door. Plus, they will do our framing if we provide it. The windows are top of the line quality, aluminum reinforces under the vinyl/double pane with safety/break-in prevention features. Plus their LIFETIME warranty is not pro-rated, transfers if you ever sell. We learned to READ warranties. They reveal ALL. Anderson subcontracts installation so if the measurements are "off" the warranty doesn't cover; you have to pursue the subcontractor. There's a reason Anderson has so many class action lawsuits (public records you can google). Plus, they do not cover for every day wear and tear or for weather damage...and a lot more. Read, read, read warranties before signing contracts. read more

we recently had custom windows replaced in our home. Anderson was the company that was recommended and that we knew could accomplish the custom wood windows that we had in our house. we needed to replace 2 from water damage but did not want to replace every window in the house because they were all in perfect condition. the initial consultation and appointment went well. the rep was professional, on time and helpful in recommending window alternatives as well as ideas for completely remodeling window area. my complaints lie with the installation of the window itself. it seems that though the rep from anderson windows was great, they hire contracted workers to do the demolition and installation of the windows. this person tore out the window quite aggressively in our upstairs bathroom. he made a mess, ruined the old window (that could have been recycled), ripped out molding around the window, and generally did a very poor job installing the window. because of this i decided to install the second window myself to avoid further damage to the inside or outside of the house. i think i would give them 3 stars, but because they ended up causing more money to be spent on replacing some of the damage they caused, i have to say 2 stars. read more

Im having trouble even giving this company 1 star at this point. We ordered 3 sliding doors and a window and paid for half up front, this was in the beginning of October. We were told because of covid everything is slow and it would be around December when the windows and doors would arrive, at that point they would be able to set up a day and time for installation. We never heard back so January we made several calls with no response. Finally we reached woman in office who casually said we were looking at a window of April..So half a years wait with little to no explanation why. This company talks a good one about how great the customer service is, and how the owner takes great pride in the service thats given. He will gladly show up to collect the check, and soon after the customer will be greeted with radio silence regarding anything going forward! If you are looking for honest people with timely work go somewhere else!! I'm afraid to see how the installation process and quality of work will be at this point. We have had French Doors installed, replacing old Pella doors, ordered a new front door from them, and we recently replaced a Bay Window with a custom window. It was a big job. It's confusing because this is Anderson Window& Doors with an "o" so not the Andersen Window folks that advertise. John Scalmanini and his own team, which do all the work, are terrific. Very professional and objective in discussing the job and options. The crew was clean, courteous, fast and did great work. Additionally and coincidentally, I had a water leak on the opposite side of the house and I couldn't find the source. After some advice from John I was able to locate it and I then figured who better to solve for a water leak than a window company? I contacted Joh and quite honestly, talked him into taking the job. One of the most unpleasant experiences I've ever had with a contractor. I'd received an ad in the mail from them and called to ask about replacing a large (11' X 5') picture window in my living room. The initial visit was fine. The sales person was pleasant and agreeable. However, they'd asked me to set aside an hour to discuss the project, which I had done, but it took almost 2 hours because of the incessant trash-talking about their competition, which never impresses me. I also thought the window frames were rather heavy and clunky in design. At the end of the time, the sales person used tactics I associate with used-car salesmen - "if I can get you to sign this contract today...." with some discount or extra bonus features. This was going to be a $10,500 job, so I never make that decision without consulting 3 contractors. I told him politely I was going to take a day or two to consider it, and he was fine. After that visit, Anderson called me the next day to suggest they could send out a more experienced contractor who might be able to find ways to reduce the price. I said that would be fine and we made an appointment. That's when things went downhill. The gentleman who came felt he could reduce the price about $1,500 or so. He again asked me to sign the contract that day. When I said again that I didn't sign contracts for such a large amount without thinking about it at least a day or two, suddenly he started scolding me; saying that it cost the company a lot to send out people to my house, I was wasting their time and money, I wasn't able to make up my mind. I told him bluntly that it was Anderson, not me, who'd suggested the second visit, and that if he felt he I was wasting his time then by all means he should feel free to leave. At the end he wrote out an estimate for $11,500 - now the price had gone up $1,000 - slammed it on the table, and left without a word. In short, I got a rude, abusive, pushy sales pitch. That decided me to look elsewhere. After having two further contractors visit, the final price for a comparable window was under $4,000. read more

These guys suck. They are rude and dismissive. Perhaps it's because I'm a woman and not supposed to know what I want. They're busy on their computers while you stand there (they could help and go back to their computer work later) and then refer you to a salesman who is chatting with his buddy on the phone about the weather while you stand around and wait. We had a very good experience with Anderson Window and Door. John personally came out to give us a quote and discuss our options and was both knowledgeable and respectful. He gave us thorough information about how the installation works without talking down to us. John was very low pressure and took a lot of time to really talk about how the process works and how it differs from a simple retrofit, as well as discussing different window options with us. The quote we got for a bay window installation was also about 2K less than another (pushier) outfit we got a quote from. The quality of the window and the workmanship on the installation overall was extremely good. Since bay windows do not sit flush against the outside wall, a good amount of exterior and stucco work had to be done in addition to the window installation, and it looked much better than we had anticipated. The texture matches the existing stucco and a lot of work went into making it weather-tight as well as attractive. Although when we initially asked if the original french doors could be salvaged and he didn't think they could be, his crew was able to save the existing doors as well as the frame. Another reviewer claims Anderson Window hires outside contractors, which does not seem to be the case. According to John, all of his construction employees have worked directly for him for 4+ years. These guys were definitely working as a team and knew what they were doing. Anderson Contacted me about an appointment for a quote for window replacement. I agreed and made an appointment. Anderson called me 3 times to confirm appointment time and my information. 15. Minutes after the scheduled appointment time, Anderson called me to say they're people were very busy at another location and would not be coming to my home. They required my wife and I be present so both of us had to arrange our schedule for the appointment. Extremely disappointed. If they can't even keep an appointment, what kind of job would they do on a window installation? read more

The owner arrived for my scheduled appt. on time--but from there, the experience went downhill. On the 2nd day after the appt., I called an requested he expedite my estimate so I could submit it for architectural review (I just learned the deadline was the following day). I also let him know I needed to submit a copy of his insurance with my door change application. He seemed annoyed, but said he would send the estimate to me but his proof of insurance to the office directly despite my insistence the insurance needed to be submitted with my application. The estimate arrived shortly, but: - For aluminum doors he said would be no better than the 43 year old doors I have now! - Was incomplete; he didn't even reference a window we discussed; - Bundled costs, with no itemization of door cost (which was supposed to have been 50% off) or labor, and - A surprise: a statement that my floors would require cutting by a 3rd party! The estimate was close to $4K per sliding door x 4 doors. When I asked for details, I rec'd an email saying the doors I wanted were "much more money" and Anderson was not the company for me.
