Kevin and the team are excellent, after coming out to measure they ordered matching windows to replace our wooden single pane windows. About a month and a half later we got some great heavy duty high quality double pane windows that matched perfectly but provided so much more insulation, functionality, and asthetic. The crew worked quickly, cleaned up, and installed everything perfectly. The windows are quite reasonably priced after we shopped around. The labor may seem high but the amount of speed they worked - 4 windows replaced with stucco exteriors, trim work, sealing off, in less than two hours as quite incredible. We had a design issue with one of the windows and Kevin and team re ordered a new one without question and installed it later on, these guys are good. read more

WindStar was a great experience from beginning to end. They replaced 15 windows for me and put in a sliding glass door and in a bedroom (and installed a light outside) and even took care of the electrical/stucco work. From ordering-to the end of the installation, Frank, Marty, Enrique and his crew were patient and kind, and did a great job on the installation and clean up. They even replaced the blinds a couple of times so I would have privacy. The entire job took 3 days total, installation and stucco work. They cleaned everything up and were so nice. Hands down the best work I've ever seen from a window company! Every detail of their work is flawless. They cut their retrofit windows down to fit inside the frame of the old window rather than sticking the big ugly vinyl flange in front of the stucco. Now, rather than water coming down hard and deteriorating the caulking leading to an inevitable leak, water flows past a small joint that will not deteriorate in the same way at all. Sliding patio doors they don't even try to do retrofit. They bust out the stucco and use new construction doors. Flashings and membrane are properly lapped into the existing moisture barrier flawlessly. Great job with finished caulking on the interiors. I'm super impressed with these guys. Enrique and the crew did clean work, we're very polite, and gave fantastic workmanship to every detail! read more

Super service! Windstar saved us by inspecting our double front doors. They had been badly damaged by a botched lock installation done by a completely unskilled but highly rated locksmith. That locksmith left the doors with uneven holes and had also slipped and marred the doors. Phil recommended new locks that could cover the damaged areas. They have a great showroom and everyone we dealt with was very helpful, well informed and very friendly. We ordered new double locks from them, they came in and Windstar sent 3 installers who did a tremendous installation job. The new locks work great, look great and cover the damage done by the previous locksmith. read more

While I very much like the owners and staff of this company, I cannot recommend them. My husband and I embarked on what was promised to be a 3 week project to replace our windows and re-stucco the exterior of our 90 year old house. We love our new Marvin windows, and the installation went smoothly, even when we uncovered structural problems. Things went bad once the stucco subcontractors got involved. First, nobody ordered the custom colored stucco which caused a 3/4 week delay. The crew leaned their scaffolding against our fence, which collapsed by week 10. They slung stucco all over our new roof, landscaping, neighboring fences and driveways. We even had to replace our gas meter as it was covered in cement. There was a 5' heap of rubbish in the back yard which included all kinds of food, even chicken bones that our dog choked on. So, all in all, our 3 week project took more than 3 months. We are totally dissatisfied with the stucco application. Our new back door is not level and crashes open. There is a 1" gap on the deck tile where the new door is smaller. Many, many unresolved problems. And they don't care. read more

I made an appointment with the door rep from Windstar. The rep appeared to know nothing about how to make a door more secure and I was very clear on the phone about my objective to increase door security and install security doors. He said he wasn't a door security specialist. The office said they are a distributor of doors, but can't compete with Home Depot on prices. Still, I took time off (without pay) to invest in meeting these people, thinking they would do a much better job than a Home Depot contractor. The door specialist took measurements and said he would get back to me the next day with price quotes for the doors and installation. I have a huge project for which an architect created the designs and would have given the job to the contractor and his door specialist. Sometimes you test the water with a small job before you give them a huge job. Again, I was willing to go with this company given a recommendation. He never called, never sent an email with an explanation and it's been several weeks. What a waste of my valuable time and money! Obviously doesn't have the professional courtesy to say he couldn't or wasn't interested in the job. Left me hanging and I was trying to move quickly!. Don't waste your time with people who don't follow up. read more

Wow. Super amazing service from Windstar. They came in and installed 5 doors as part of a remodeling job. They were super professional about this with clear communication and touching base at the end to make sure we were happen with the out come. While they were here, they noticed that one bedroom door (one that they weren't installing) was sticking and offered to fix it on the spot with out any hassles. I ordered a Simpson wood door through Windstar. It didn't show up at the estimated timeline. Kevin and his crew did a great job by calling the distributor to find the status of the door, where it is (it was actually on a train from Seattle to Sacramento) and when it will be delivered. They also called the distributor prior to the delivery date to make sure the door will be loaded in their truck at Sacramento. I am very satisfied with their service. But I don't like the speed of the Simpson factory :) read more

Amazing. Fantastic. Professional. Attention to detail. Clean clean work. And the best prices Hands Down for Retrofit and New Windows installs. We had Home Depot, Anderson and one other company quote the windows. Their quotes came in for 8 windows between $9000 - $12000. Their install prices were between $400-$1000 per window. Windstar came in below $4000 for Milgard Tuscany installed and their install price per window was half the lowest quote. I hired Windstar on behalf of my 83 year mother to install 8 windows. I stumbled in off the street and Kevin, the owner had time to give me a quote. We talked quite a bit and it was obvious his knowledge of the business is beyond extensive. He didn't try to upset me. He explained to me the difference in vinyl windows and why you should upgrade to a better line of Milgard - Tuscany. He also explained why he always recommends thicker glasss - quieter, less broke to break when a lawn mower throws up something at the window and breaks it. Windstar has been business for over 30 years. They have seen at least 3 housing busts and they survived. That says a lot. He also told me they cover everything and vacuum are are super super clean. My mom is a neat freak and this is beyond important to her. We finally ordered the windows and they came to install them. The crew, Enrique, Enrique and Pedro showed up on time, they covered everything and started. The crew was so kind and polite to my mother. They are SUPER. They are also work very, very quickly. I noticed Enrique was trimming the flanges of the retrofit windows. I asked him why. He said Kevin, taught him this is how real professionals install retrofit windows. Otherwise the flange either doesn't seal well to the stucco and over time you have leaks or the flange gets pushed out and in over wood as the wood swells and you have leaks. I have never seen his done. When I did my house, no one did this and sure enough after 15 years, the caulk seal gapped opened and I had a a small leak that damaged my sheetrock on one window. On the install, I also noticed they used gap filler by Hilti. Hilti is a very, very high end equipment and caulk maker from I think Switzerland. At that moment I knew Windstar only used the best of the best stuff. The rest of the install went perfectly and they cleaned up and vacuumed and did an Amazing job. A day later my mom noticed the bathroom windows were really hard to open. She called Kevin and he sent someone down. The windows were slightly to thick to move easily. They readied the situation and my mom is now so so happy. If you want the best and a reasonable price, their is no one better than Windstar. The office staff ar superb too. Anna is exceptional. I think the employees stay with Kevin for a long time because I can tell he not only runs a quality business, but he also treats his employees really, really well.
