We have been trying to get our window replaced that was sold to us by Shota and installed by his workers in 2024. We noticed a few months ago a film at times between the window pane. We reached out to him and answered questions and provided him pictures of the issue. He said they can submit the warranty claim and we said we would prefer it since he's the one who sold it to us. He asked for the serial number and he said that's all he needed. Since then I have been texting, leaving messages, and sending emails trying to get updates with no response. I had a great experience with General B Contractor who recently did a window retrofit at my home. From start to finish, the process was smooth and professional. We ordered Provia Heritage double front doors from Shota to replace our aging / warping wood front doors. I can't believe how inexpensive he was able to do the job for. Of course we went with the "lowest" ProVia doors (Heritage, single color Tudor Brown, lockset prepped only). It wasn't exactly cheap, but out of 3 other local vendors Yelp suggested, the next quote for the exact same ProVia doors was almost twice the cost and the highest quote was about 2.5x. During the quoting process, we initially talked on the phone and he was able to give me a base price for the doors. When it came time to place the order in person, he came to take some measurements and made sure all my questions were answered (even if it meant calling ProVia directly if he was unsure). He suggested some additions but I didn't feel like he was pushy about them at all. The ProVia rep on the phone was also able to give a pretty accurate estimate for the product shipment. Approximately a week after the doors arrived, I proactively contacted him about scheduling an installation. He was able to fit it in a couple days later and the team did it in 2-3 hours. I watched them the entire time and they did a meticulous and thorough job. The paid attention to threshold adjustment, replacing the trim including paint and caulk, and cleanup. I understand some of the frustrations some customers feel when it's difficult to get a response from a text message or phone call. Even though I had to poke and remind Shota a little, he was absolutely responsive and enthusiastic about getting the project done. In construction, I feel that administrative, scheduling, and coordination contribute to approx 10-20% of the project. But looking at the long term product and the way it was installed, that would definitely be 80-90% of the "grade". Would not hesitate to contact or refer him to others for the same level of work. Back in Spring, we replaced 11 windows in our home. Shota answered questions about new housing regulations and the differences in replacing windows and the process for working with an HOA which is something I was very concerned about. He was patient with the process and honored the quote he gave me despite the HOA taking longer than expected. I felt comfortable working with Shota. He seemed honest and I didn't feel like I was being tricked or he was trying to get one over on me. The construction crew was there promptly at 8:30am and seemed to get a game plan going. They did not knock until 9am which was the time I had asked them to come. I appreciated their courtesy because I was doing all I could to speed up the family's morning routine so we could leave the house. There are two reasons why I couldn't give a 5-star rating. First, Shota had explained the manufacterer was giving a $200 rebate and encouraged us to pay $200 more to the crew. I was happy to pay more to the crew and do the extra paperwork of getting the manufacturer rebate. However, after the installation process, I could no longer get a hold of Shota and was not given the paperwork for the manufacturer rebate. This was a big deal to me. Second, surprisingly, after the installation was complete the crew left trash and other tools scattered around the yard. They not only left empty bottles of the caulking stuff they use to seal the windows, they left a broom and the broom picker upper thing (I'm forgetting what it's called). I did call Shota to let him know and he said he would pick up the tools (I had already picked up the trash). Overall, I would work with Shota again and have recommended him to numerous people who have casually mentioned wanting to change their windows. read more

I don't even know where to begin with this review. We found Shota's company through Yelp and decided to ask him for a windows quote so that we could compare it to another quote we had received. He came over to our home and spent about 2 hours looking at all our existing windows. He took a lot of measurements and told us that we had the option to increase the sizing of our windows by up to 2 inches wide if we'd like. We didn't even know that was a possibility, but he ensured that it was possible. He gave us a fair quote so we decided to go with him. We signed the contract and he informed us that windows were taking 6-8 weeks to get delivered. We said it was fine, and that we could wait. We didn't hear back from him after the 8-week mark. My husband followed up through text and didn't get a response. We then called him and left him voice messages. He finally called us back a couple days later. He said that there was a delay in our window shipment and that they wouldn't be able to start the job. Okay fine, the delay wasn't in his control. But when the windows did arrive, his workers left them outside in our backyard during the heat wave when it was over 100 degrees everyday, so some of them warped. Another delay as some windows needed to get replaced. Sigh. Finally, his workers got around to start working on replacing our windows, months after the initial quote. They worked about 3 hours a day and then left. Replacing two windows took 3 days, and we had 7 windows and 2 sliding doors to replace. Imagine how long the whole project took. Here is the worst part. My husband is pretty knowledgeable in construction and is fairly handy himself. When he came home from work one evening, he was inspecting two windows that Shota's men had installed and couldn't believe what he saw. Remember how I mentioned earlier that Shota had suggested for us to get bigger windows because it was an option? It turns out that he measured everything incorrectly. And what did his guys do? They cut into our 2x4 structural framing, compromising the structural integrity of our home, and literally shoved the new windows in. What would've happened if my husband didn't have the eye or knowledge to notice this huge mistake? We couldn't believe it. All our window framing looked like they were haphazardly hacked by an amateur trying to shove a big rectangle into a smaller one. It was horrific. We texted Shota immediately and told him he needed to come the next day to inspect the work and fix it. Now here's the real kicker. He came the next day, looked at the compromised window framing, and had the audacity to say, "Well, you were the ones who wanted bigger windows." I was LIVID. I couldn't believe he tried blame-shifting his mistake on us. This turned out to be a living nightmare for us. Shota had to hire another contracting company to come and fix his mistakes. Thankfully, the other contractor knew what he was doing. The whole time, he and his team kept telling me, "I can't believe they did this. This is really bad. I don't know what Shota's guys were thinking." I'm not one to leave bad reviews in general but this was such a horrible experience, and I would hate for someone else to have to go through what we went through. I sometimes wonder what would've happened if we never caught the mistakes made because we didn't have the eye to double-check the progress. I'm so relieved that this nightmare is over. Remodeling a home is already such an expensive and stressful endeavor - make sure you work with HONEST contractors! Get a personal referral from a friend, coworker, etc. Nothing's worse than having to deal with a dishonest contractor who avoids your calls and can't provide solid answers. In February 2023, we signed the contract with Shota Mjivia, owner of GeneralB Contractor to replace 16 windows, 1 skylight and 1 sliding door with Milgard Windows and repair the rainstorm damages from both exterior and interiror. We agreed that the project would start in July 2023. However, he missed the deadline until we called him. He admitted that he canceled the orders without offer any reasons, although we paid half of the cost, more than enough to purchase materials needed, when we signed the contract. The work was delayed until August, full month behind schedule. In addition to this delay, Shota had no control of the sub-contractors, his cordination was terrible and he had no clue who would be next. The work were delayed many times due to sub-contractors were not available. I lost many sleeps at night to find other contractors instead of waiting for Shota because he could not get anyone available. I had to find roofing contractor, interior sheetrock repair, and exterior and interior paintings by myself. The exterior had to go through two different contractors for metal lath, flashing and stucco. The interior painting contractor that I hired, claimed their work would be much faster if they did the repair of sheetrock themselves from the beginning including textures and finishes instead of fixing Shota's sheetrock worker who did earlier. The first City Inspection was failed due to missing flashing, until the second inspection, one week later. Besides, Shota constantly demanded payments, instead of half payment due to the contract. I always paid him without any questions. He should perform his work better. Luckily that we had Koba Lazarashvili, sub-contractor of Shota, who worked on the new windows, skylight, sliding door replacement, Koba worked so hard and went to every detailed with us that help us went through the difficult times. read more
