My daughter wanted another piercing. Being she is a minor they require a notarized document, perfect! I went online with a live notary paid for the form to be notarized, set my appointment up only to be told they won't accept it because the notary was in Texas. When I told her I just paid for this service she stated, well I don't know why they're not accepting it. Standing there waiting, finally I said they're not accepting it?? She said No. Once again, went to a local piercing shop Iris the same company that we went to before and was able to get our piercing done! We will NOT be coming back to Studs, and to be honest at this point with this happening twice, obviously not meant to be.

From the moment I set foot in the shop, he gave me crap about the design: the placement of the anvil and pincers, the overall design, etc. Despite the fact that I provided my own reference material and gave clear instructions about what I wanted done, he half-assed the job and finished the tattoo in half an hour with the skill of Napoleon Dynamite. I felt revolted by his work as soon as I got back to my place and from the first moment I looked at it in the mirror, knew I wanted it removed. Now, as a seasoned tattoo collector with more than 20 on my skin, I am having to pay 3 thousand dollars and endure blistering lasers once a month because of this imbecile man's belief that he is anything other than someone with a skill (HA) who lends his abilities to others to make their vision come true. If you want to have your positive tattoo experience shat on and to endure tattoo removal for years afterwards, I highly recommend booking with Chris at Oxygen Ink.

I am currently on my third piece. I have been to two different tattoo parlors: Tattoo & Co. and Inkaholics. Now, I'm all for trying out different shops, considering if you've done your research on a specific artist in that parlor. Almost Famous, however, I have to say, that even for me to actually write this review means a lot. The shop is very clean. The environment of this shop is quite lively; and don't underestimate that. These boys are a very tight-knit group of friends and you'll experience it first-hand if you get a piece done by them. They all have amazing talent, extreme enthusiasm, and immense amounts of patience. These are crucial characteristics if you're getting a pretty big piece done, or anything done for the matter. Not to mention the fact that they are all charismatic and hilarious, so it was pretty fun. My artist was Ryan, and boy does he have a lot of patience and talent. He's quite versatile when it comes to styles and different forms of art, so he can pretty much work anything up. Now, like most people, I'm extremely picky when it comes to details; things should be done to-a-tee. Ryan was able to resize, fix, and reestablish the placement of my piece. Going back soon for my second session. If you've gotten anything from this lengthy review, then you have to know this: Almost Famous is a MUST if you're seriously contemplating a permanent piece of art because you will be happy with the final product. read more

I had a couple little pieces I wanted tattooed for a while (I already had 6) and while on vacation in Miami, I decided to get them done then. I did some Googling and called a few shops. Through the brief phone conversation alone, I found Almost Famous to be the most professional (for example, they refused to give a price range over the phone even after I gave them a hard time -- other shops gladly gave me a number, which I don't feel they should have). I ended up stopping by the shop to get a quote and from chatting with the guys there, I felt they were professional and knew what they were talking about. I decided to make an appointment with Kris (who, by the way, is amazing!) for the day after. Because I already knew exactly what I wanted, there wasn't much consulting needed to be done (except for slight size adjustments, precise location, etc.). Kris was very good and he made the entire experience very comfortable and, despite getting tattooed, pleasurable. If I am ever back in Miami and want something else done, this is where I am going! read more

Excellent place, wonderful staff, and, most importantly, outstanding craftsmanship. It was my first tattoo, so I was understandably a bit apprehensive, but the people were warm and welcoming, patiently answering my parents questions and consulting with me on my design. I don't know how many people walk in with their folks in tow, but it must be business as usual for these guys the way they handled it. My mother is a nurse, and while she was referred here by another nurse, she still had some pretty strong reservations about coming, but Kris (the guy who helped me) assuaged her worries about the sanitation of the whole process. My mother even pointed out how similarly the process was to scrubbing up for a surgery (some very obvious differences aside). The tattoo came out amazingly, despite the good natured rambunctiousness of Kris's co workers (I was the only one getting worked on), and the movie blaring in the background, so you're in very good, damn professional hands. 5/5, will definitely return. Being very anal about tattoos, I can honestly tell you that I do massive amounts of research before ever getting one. From the lining, to shading, to lettering and coloring; all of it is taken to account even if I wanted something small. Hearing, about this place through their three-day weekend festival, I looked up their store and their work and was immediately impressed. Clean lining, superb detail and even better talent than most shops here in Miami. I showed them a picture of what I wanted, they sketched it out, told me the recommended size, how well it would age, etc. What makes this tattoo shop five stars aside from it's fantastic artists, is their passion to give you a tattoo you'll always be proud of. I am incredibly happy with the finished product on my forearm, by far the nicest tattoo I have ever gotten and I can assure you this is the place to get your first to your last piece. I was referred to this shop by two of my friends. I visited the shop as a walk in. The artists there were very friendly and laid back. I described what I wanted to Kris, he asked me to send him a picture as a reference, and about 10 minutes later he approached me with the concept in hand. We discussed the piece some more and were able to agree on a piece to be placed on my forearm. Once the work began, Kris stayed focused on his task, his phone rang and he ignored it and chose to keep working. So I appreciated the fact that he completely ignored this distraction to pursue his work. After the piece was done, he was great in explaining aftercare. He assured me if I had any questions in the future not to hesitate to call the shop or come see them for help. Great price, great job and just an overall Awesome experience. I wanted to get my first tattoo. I searched online for tattoo shop in Miami, and Almost Famous Tattoo had good reviews and was close to where i live. I went in, met Kris, we discussed my tattoo and scheduled an appointment for next day. The next day I thought that if i walked in and didn't like how the design looks on paper, i would just walk away (that would be a sign not to get a tattoo:). I wanted a text tattoo, and Kris created the design exactly how i envisioned it to be. I couldn't walk away from that... Kris made me feel relaxed and comfortable while getting the tattoo. Phillip was my tattoo artist and I have to give him a lot of credit for his craft! My first time getting a tattoo and not really sure what I was getting myself into and I never felt like I was going to get something I was going to regret. Phillip and the other members are all really good guys and it makes for a great atmosphere within the place. Definitely recommend anybody to go here. Great place!! My sister and I were on the hunt for a tattoo artist to get a matching tattoo. We checked out about 6 or 7 tattoo shops. None of them made us feel comfortable the way Mike at Almost Famous did. When we came to him with our idea, he seemed genuinely interested in what we wanted, asking questions and making suggestions. Great place to get inked. Artists are detailed and thought out in their planning of placement and getting the idea you have as best to suit YOU. Always clean and sterile. Just got my fourth tattoo with Kris and he was amazing. The tattoo itself came out just how I wanted it, couldn't have asked for anything better. He worked with me to get the tattoo how I wanted and gave both me and my boyfriend advice on how to improve on it so it wouldn't look bad as the years go by. This is a nice tattoo shop with friendly helpful people. Great work for the money. They are clean and follow all health regulations. I originally had an appointment set with another artist in another shop for months, and an hour before it, I got canceled on due to an emergency. I asked around and one of my friends told me about a great artist, Gabriel and told me he worked at Marlin's. We headed over and despite the ridiculous and tiny parking lot, I felt a great vibe from the place when I walked in. There were a bunch of artists there and were all smiling and welcoming. I legit opened with: "Hey, I don't have an appointment, but I just got canceled on my birthday and was wondering if anyone would help". They were more than willing, showing me their work etc. I asked about Gabriel but they said he didn't work there anymore. No big deal, I thought, and decided to be open-minded and look at the people who were there. I was drawn to the fist girl's work, Moony (aka Juliet) because it was really cutesy work. I had never had a female artist before either, so I was really excited. (Mind you, I have a lot of my body covered, I have two half sleeves and a full leg sleeve amongst other pieces. So this is not my first rodeo.) I can admit my big mistake was not asking for a price up front, but no price was brought up at all either. (I did explain that my original artist was going to do an entire half torso stencil for $150, though). Anyways, we finally decided on a 2inx3in simple tattoo of a triceratops. The entire tattoo took less than an hour, perhaps about 40 minutes. We had excellent conversation and talked about the struggles of being a female in male dominated industries (I work in technology) and she had a very light hand. After my tattoo, I ask her the price, and she looked me straight in the eye and said "$200 for yours". I was in shock. (Not to mention she charged my friend $400 for another small tattoo) I seriously paused and waited about ten seconds assuming she was going to follow with: "Just Kidding!" Nope, she said: "we have an ATM in anything" (atm was broken btw, I ended up using cash app) I didn't cause a scene or haggle because I am a composed person and seriously believe in karma. I think she knows very well she ripped us off! I don't expect special treatment although I've had plenty of hookups with tattoos before, I am dating a tattoo artist and have been in the tattoo scene for a long time and have lived in Miami for 12 years, so I know what a fair price is! This tattoo is worth about $50-$80 (I would have even accepted $100 or maybe even $150 as something reasonable because I understand supplies etc are expensive. Looking back, there were red flags. The neighborhood was sketchy and you can't directly open the door, you have to ring a door bell and have them put a code in every time you open the door (I'm assuming because of unsafe neighborhood). And though I should have been smarter and brought it up before, she should have talked price wayyy before she hit my skin with the ink. I hope the $600 (+ tips) she robbed from two nice and hard-working lower middle class millennials helps her out with whatever, but she could have easily made plenty of more money in the long term with a decent price. Because I ALWAYS recommend my artists to people and show off my tattoos on my various instagrams with big followings, Yelp reviews, and word of mouth. I guess it makes sense that there were no customers in the shop before we got there, the entire time we were getting tattooed, or when we left! Zero! (Now that I think about it, I've NEVER been getting a tattoo done by an artist who wasn't lowkey stressing for time because they had a bunch of people lined up!) I'm guessing the other yelp reviews featuring 5 stars and claiming a decent price are either fake or she just decided today was the day to ripoff these strangers! Oh and by the way, they had multiple signs claiming you get a free shirt if you check in on social media platforms, which me and my friend did, and they said they didn't have any shirts to give us. And none of the other artists dared looked at us, all turned away, when we were paying or saying goodbye, I'm guessing to control their shame or about to burst into laughter after scamming us! I'm sure Moony will enjoy the multiple very nice photos I took of her and her work that airdropped to her phone. They have a paid, in-shop photographer but I'm glad after taking all that money from me they also got some free photography and social media posts (before i deleted them, of course!) I will NOT be recommending Marlin's Tattoo Shop or Moony/Juliet to absolutely anyone EVER. And I will make sure to warn everyone about their prices because THEY SURE WON'T!
