I went to new age to have a piercer look at an almost 3 year old daith that continued to have irritation bumps that would not budge. I still had my original jewelry and would often be turned away for jewlery changes bc of the bumps. My now 6 year-old daughter had her ears pierced as a baby and one of the piercings was pretty low. Now, that she's older it's more evident and it's become a problem. To figure how what to do next, we had an evaluation at New Age with Noel, and it was a great experience! He was patient and gave us a good plan to re-pierce in the future and explained the best location to re-pierce and why we should wait. After reading up online about the best type of place to get a child's ears pierced, the consensus seemed to be "a piercing parlor". Reasons cited were that a needle would provide less bruising and be more sanitary than a piercing gun. So when my daughter began asking to get her ears pierced, I found this highly rated place and made her appointment. We got to the appointment and immediately felt a bit rushed. We paid for upgraded earrings, titanium, which we were told would be the least likely to have an allergic reaction to. The posts of the earrings fit into a cylinder that was closed at the end, making the earring more comfortable since the post wouldn't poke behind the ear. I think this was a mistake because it seemed like bacteria could easily get trapped where the post fits in. Since it was closed off, what prevents bacteria from getting trapped inside? The piercing experience itself was pretty hard on my daughter. She was about 6 years old at the time and during the first piercing, she fainted. And then when she woke up, he gave her the second piercing. The person who did her piercing seemed to know what he was doing, but he wasn't very comforting to her or showed her much concern. She was scared at that point and woozy until we left. I think if New Age is going to offer this service (piercing children's ears), then they should be a little friendlier to kids. During the week after, the bruising on one ear was pretty bad. From what I had read it would be normal to have trauma/bruising with a piercing gun, but not a needle. I reached out to Noel with photos and he explained that bruising is normal with earlobe piercing. So take away one of the two reasons mentioned above for the piercing needle over the needle gun. The piercing never fully healed as it developed an infection. We used the cleaning solution recommended by New Age (a saline solution for piercing after care) and followed the instructions provided by New Age. We were told not to twist the posts and I wonder if that contributed to her issue. Maybe we should've twisted it. Or maybe that cleaning solution wasn't sufficient. But after weeks of trying to get rid of the infection, we had to remove the piercings and let her ears heal. She was disappointed to say the least. Recently, she asked to get her ears re-pierced. It has been about 3 years and her ears were fully healed and so was her anxiety from the last experience. We went to Claire's (gasp!) and the experience was night and day. Her friends joined her for moral support, the lady who did her piercing was friendly, and Claire's is far less intimidating to a child than New Age was. There was no fainting. She had no bruising and the piercing healed up nicely with no infection. We went with 14k gold and the cleaning solution they provided was not saline. The solution was called "Rapid Aftercare Cleanser". There was no special post cap (potentially harboring bacteria) and the post didn't irritate the area behind her ear. Claire's was a good bit less expensive too. All this to say that what works for one person, might not work for you and it's ok to go with Claire's (or whatever mall shop) if that's what your daughter feels more comfortable with. Also wanted to say that every time I reached out to Noel about the healing process, he was responsive and tried to help. read more

Heads up, They only work with appointments. Can't say enough good things about this establishment and the team that runs it. My first visit was in March. I had gotten a few piercings from trendy boutiques and wanted more. Luis took one look at my ear and said the previous piercings weren't done properly & he didn't want to put my ear through more trauma. He recommended I take the piercings out, let my ear heal, and then come back in 4 months to get started on my ear scape. I appreciated his honesty and listened. Today I was pierced by Noel. I told him what I wanted (2 lobe piercings) & he told me that based on positioning, it's best to start with one now and come back in a month for the second. The piercing room is extremely clean, he sanitized everything, and the actual piercing took maybe 60 seconds. He was so gentle, I didn't believe him when he said it was done. It was so quick and painless!!! I really appreciate the honesty and integrity of this shop. I've had negative experiences with piercings before that could have been prevented if the piercer had stopped me and said "That's not a good idea." I can see why this place is rated so highly. This was my favorite piercing experience. Due to COVID, it's only one person at a time, so it felt great to have all their attention. My piercer (I forgot his name, but he's the manager) has been doing this for 20 years and made me feel extremely comfortable and taken care of. I got my rook pierced and it was $65 for the surgical steel option. They also included a 2.6oz bottle of aftercare (which I haven't experienced before at other shops). Then they have a 7 week and 1 month check up for my piercing which I thought was great. I paid cash, but they take card as well. They also offer to change your earrings for $10 if you bring your own earrings. If you buy from them (and they have a large selection) then it's just the cost of the earring. I definitely see myself coming back when my piercing's healed to change up my earring. TLDR: 10/10 recommend!! read more

I went a month and a half ago for lower back dermals. I was given a complimentary saline spray for aftercare, and additional guidance! Great comforting piercer who is also experienced in many more body modifications that I'm interested in, so this place is great for the light AND dark hearted! lol. I feel that my dermals healed up extremely quickly and I think it's not only thanks to my aftercare methods (and my personal preference for the LITHA method) but also due to this incredible practice and sanitary conditions. Keep in mind this is pricy but it's a worthy price to pay for those riskier piercings, such as the dermals. I would never ever get those at a tattoo parlor. For non surface piercings, piercings in low risk areas, or piercings that don't require as perfect symmetry, I'd probably go for a dedicated piercer working out of my trusted nearby tat parlor. I will be coming here again for a certain piercing as I don't trust anyone else will be able to place it perfectly. I recommend this place to all! read more
