These guys used to be great. Used them for 14 years. They've gotten much much worse. Progressively worse. Mixed up shipments, different trucking companies every delivery, shipments sitting at the dock in CA for 10 days after I told them to ship, poor customer service, etc. I'm in the process of switching to another forwarder. read more

So my husband is working in Oregon & had to get 450lbs of tools sent up (2 large toolboxes about 4'x3'x3'). I did not know sending this was going to be such a task! I searched online everywhere! I thought I could use Hawaiian air cargo BUT they only cater to businesses! And this was pretty much the theme for everywhere I called. Matson only shipped by container so they told me I had to find a freight forwarder that rented out their containers and I'd have to rent space on one of theirs. The few places that did ship for personal not business were way out of our budget, I think FedEx was like $1300.. something like that? Basically no one who did airfreight would work with regular non business people, unless it was UPS, USPS & FedEx--hey if you can afford them then great. The shipment will definitely get there faster that way. A friend finally recommended Aloha Freight & I was so glad I found them. I spoke with a number of people and everyone one of them was super friendly and just made this whole ordeal easier and less stressful. I must have gave them a headache with all my emails and phone calls but they were super professional and offered excellent customer service every time. I even had to change the destination address last minute and they worked with me to ensure everything was still delivered smoothly. Kristine helped me with like 5 different quotes and was so helpful and informative. The people at the warehouse where I dropped off the shipment were so nice. And Corina, the agent in the mainland who kept me in the loop and helped me change the address last minute was on it, so helpful and friendly. I think all in all it was still a pretty penny, we also had a $90 charge for hazardous materials--lithium ion batteries. I dropped off the boxes 12/18, keep in mind this was during the holiday schedule so there were less routes scheduled and it was on a first come first serve shipping basis. Aloha Freight doesn't have an office in Oregon so it went to L.A. & they drove it to Oregon via FedEx. So it got to port on the 1/4 and FedEx delivered it on the 1/15-now that I look at it it took almost a month to get there but the whole process would have been such a headache and super expensive if it wasn't for the great workers and communication. Summary-- *2 boxes @ 3'x4'x4' each-- totaling 450lbs *Holiday hours=less shipment routes *Most places I found do not deal with large personal shipments only business shipments i.e. hawaiian air cargo *$90 hazard fee * Dropped off 12/18-arrived in L.A. 1/4.. FedEx drove to OR & delivered on 1/15. 28 days total to get from Oahu to Oregon. *Around $750+ spent shipping If anyone knows of cheaper, faster ways to go about doing this feel free to lmk read more

A short time ago I reviewed Aloha Freight Forwarders due to extensive damages and loss to our shipped household goods. After negotiations with them they agreed to give us a full refund, which we are grateful for. It will allow us to replace and repair some of the damaged goods. I would suggest to anyone who is shipping goods with freight forwarders to Hawaii to read the small print in the contract and ask questions about the cost of adding extra insurance for your goods. read more

UPS/Fedex wouldn't send a 150lbs box (Audio Equipment) from LA to Honolulu. Aloha Freight Forwarders would and at a reasonable price to my door. They kept me informed as to the ETA and Leland who delivered it gets 5 stars service. AFF will be my go to!! read more

Fantastic customer service!! I emailed and asked for a quote and they were quick and accurate and so kind when I asked questions. They shipped our crated furniture out the day after receiving them and got them from LA to our door in Kapolei in 6 days. Absolutely incredible. We were able to follow the tracking and they took pictures of the freight to show how it was put on the boat. The man that delivered it called as expected and delivered on time! They don't tell you that they will not help you when they are on break. The workers make you wait "5 minutes so I can finish my break." 15 minutes later, he's still on phone, smoking cigarettes while I'm waiting in the sun. PLEASE LET CUSTOMERS KNOW PICK UP TIMES. We moved to a new place and needed to buy some furniture. The selection in Hawaii is so limited and not all stores in mainland ship to Hawaii. We found a good freight forwarder to get some things from Ikea. It cost just as much for the shipping than the item but its worth it to get something that you really like. Would be better if we had an Ikea store in Hawaii. If you ever find something in the states that doesn't ship to Hawaii give Aloha Freight Forwarders a call to help you get your items here to Hawaii. read more

This company is horrible. DO NOT USE THEM. I had the worst experience ever with this company and even the Corporate Office in California is terrible. Note* I used to use them regularly a couple years ago which makes the story even worse. They accepted my freight (2) seperate orders and after it was in their possession they changed the rates and refused to honor quotes I had gotten. They bait n switched me. Then they refused to deliver unless I paid cash even tho I had good credit with them for years. Then to add insult to injury they asked for 3 credit references which I gave them and which all came back good/solid but still they refused deliver till paid. I carry hundreds of thousands of credit with these companies. The credit manager admitted to me they reported good credit references. THEN if that isnt bad enough they even refused to take my company check and required cash or credit card! These were urgent shipments so I had no choice. Now I know this sounds all too crazy but every word is true. I had used them for years and had always paid them promptly. Just CRAZY. They have a new credit manager but she must be psycho to do this and loose business like this. This Company is just STUPID. I also know former emploees that were very unhappy and said they were very unfair. BAD COMPANY! read more

Really incompetent people. First they put my freight on hold. I checked on that and they said that they were waiting to get paid by the shipper. I contacted the shipper who was out raged and said they wouldn't know why, because they have an account with them. The shipper called the main office and called me back and said it was Aloha freight forwarders fault. To make things worst those incompetent people did not put my freight on the barge. When they finally did it sat on the dock for four days. I was suppose to receive it on 3/5/20, today is the 3/10/20 and I'm hoping that this is all over. We believe we are using the best Freight Forwarder for items shipping from Los Angeles, California to Honolulu, Hawaii. I own and operate a small distribution business. My parents had been using Aloha Freight for about 20 years. After taking over we continued to use them buy tried other forwarders, but we keep our critical items shipping through Aloha Freight because we have had one damage claim in over 7 years, with dozens of pallets a year, that is kid-gloves handling. Now in contrast we have done our fair share of freight damage claims through other carriers; affirmation that AFA is careful with our goods in transit. They also process their containers here quickly so we receive our shipments most often the same day which they receive them. That is quick turnaround. We do pay a slightly higher rate for really great service. But many of our customers who are in critical service industries told us why they only use Aloha Freight, which affirms the high level of service we receive here. Peace of mind with our incoming freight is important. Knowing that our goods are getting here in good order means I can focus on the more important aspects of my business. read more
