Allegra has been an invaluable resource! Of the 3 CLCs and 3 IBCLCs that I've seen, she has been the best. Compassionate, knowledgeable, skilled, and supportive! I'm confident that her support has allowed me to succeed as long as I have. She helped me advocate for my goals and wishes when other healthcare professionals recommended I stop breastfeeding. Her additional background and degree in nutrition adds an extra layer of knowledge and problem solving that made me feel like she was seeing my son and I as whole people rather than just latch, oral tension, position, or supply. Initially, I was hesitant about seeing a virtual lactation professional, but I was so very wrong. Her virtual appointments have been more helpful than anything conducted in person, because instead of being in an unfamiliar clinical space with uncomfortable furniture, I was in my home on my couch where I typically feed. She has been able to work with our needs and schedule to see us quickly in more crisis situations and allow my husband to participate based on his work schedule. I am so thankful for Allegra's help and guidance through my breastfeeding journey. Before my baby was born in September I really did not think I would have breast fed at all much less been able to keep it going for 4 months strong now. Allegra is a very knowledgeable Lactation consultant; my husband and I took her breastfeeding class a month before our daughter was born. We learned so many things about how to breast feed and how my husband needed to support me through it, because breastfeeding, while natural, is NOT something that just comes completely natural to mothers. We also learned the nutritional benefits of breast milk, which is what ultimately changed my mind about breastfeeding. I wanted to give it my best shot because my child deserves the best if I'm able to provide it to her. When the day came when my baby was born and I was able to feed her the most nutritional milk available I felt pretty proud of myself, but it was hard and sometimes very painful. Allegra helped me to ensure I had a good latch, gave me extra tips on different breastfeeding positions, and helped me understand how/why/when to pump when I returned to work. I truly cannot believe I have breastfed for over 4 months and my end goal is to make it to one year. If you're going to breast feed please consult Allegra, she will help coach you through it. Allegra has been extremely helpful in my breastfeeding journey. My poor baby was hardly getting anything from breastfeeding within that first week. I didn't realize until I noticed my baby had lost so much weight, and when my nipples cracked and bled, and baby coughed up blood. At this point I was concerned about baby's health and the ability to build up my supply. I contacted Allegra and she was able to make an in home visit the very next day! When she came over she asked questions to gain knowledge about my situation and made me feel comfortable about the whole process. She then did a prior feeding and a post feeding weighing. While in the hospital, I had access to 3 LCs but Allegra was the first to identify my son's tongue tie. This had prevented him from properly breastfeeding, which is why I had pain and damaged nipples. During this initial visit she also taught me about how to build up my supply through pumping and hand expression. At this point, only a few drops came out. She implemented a plan for me to assist with my supply. Within a day, I went from pumping drops to pumping more milk. I decided to do a follow up. During this visit, Allegra assisted me and taught me about proper latching, what breastfeeding was supposed to feel like, constantly ensured that my baby was staying latched properly, taught me about different breastfeeding positions, and answered all questions that I had during the feeding. Even now, she is so supportive and answers questions that I have. I am so grateful to Allegra for teaching me and giving me the encouragement to continue breastfeeding!! read more

Allegra gave me and my husband the best breastfeeding class!! We had to take a breastfeeding class at our birthing center and between the two, Allegra's was so much better! She explained everything so well and really helped prepare me for breastfeeding. After I gave birth, despite living across the nation from each other, Allegra helped me breastfeed through FaceTime and it was as if she were there. I would give Allegra a 10 star rating if I could! She really makes time for you and will answer all your questions in a compassionate, timely, and knowledgeable manner. She came to my house shortly after my son was born to help me with breastfeeding positions, and she answered my numerous questions on a daily basis after that. She was the one who recommended that I find out if my son had a tongue tie, and she also recommended that I get a second opinion when his pediatrician dismissed it. Sure enough, my son was diagnosed with a posterior tongue tie and an upper lip tie. She came to his laser procedure to have it corrected, and she immediately helped us with positions and relatching. If it wasn't for her, I may have given up on breastfeeding entirely for my son and for my future kids, or my milk supply would have ended due to my son's inability to latch because of his ties. I seriously don't know what our family would've done without her during the first couple of weeks as a new, breastfeeding mama with a lot of complications. If she can help me to keep breastfeeding, she can help anyone! read more
