I originally had Aloha Poke in Chicago and was so excited when it came to Milwaukee and ate here when it first opened. I haven't been in years but was pretty disappointed in my take out order. Take out was on time and nicely packaged but felt like they really skimped on the fish. Not to mention I paid extra for avocado and got 2 pieces and 1 piece was a bad brown piece. I got a combo of rice and mixed greens and there was a chunk of rotten greens. It looked so unappetizing! They really should inspect the ingredients before putting in the bowl. When you usually return to an amazing place or a favorite restaurant or anything that you hope to find that same excitement, it's been my experience that it doesn't always happen. But yesterday I first learned of Aloha Poke and I made a point to return asap. Today I almost chose to skip it, for the aforementioned reason. I was at the same location that brought to the third ward of Milwaukee following up with some project I'd begun yesterday. After completing it I was a mile away when I remembered that I wanted to do that Poke place again. So I wound through the midday traffic and returned, to find no parking, I went around the block again, and the same situation was still there, so I hit the flashers, said a fast prayer to st Anthony and parked illegally in front of a fire hydrant and risked it all, and rushed back to get that food that was going to probably not be as good as I hoped, but I was committed by this point. A different guy was tending the goodies, and he had a good attitude. Good suggestions and I had a slightly different style of poke than before. Same tuna and mostly the rest, but some dried seaweed was added and perhaps another item, but I did add the highly recommended volcano sauce to the mix. Two hours later, probably more like 4, I am finally able to bust into this one and it was FAR FAR BETTER than I had hoped for. Now I am worried I'll return with even higher expectations and be let down. So instead I'll just try to pretend I've never been to that place, so next time it'll be like the first time all over again. That's realistic, right? read more

Delivery poke was ok, wouldn't call it great. And that's looking beyond the issues with delivery, which included the driver handing me my food sideways with all the sauce leaked out into the bag. I ordered a regular size bowl with white rice and mixed greens as the base, with marinated tuna and marinated salmon as well as Tobiko, seaweed salad. avocado, and ginger with samurai sauce (basically a sweet dark sauce like a teriyaki). I wasn't terribly impressed with the fish, and the fish portion was quite small. The quality wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad either. I definitely recommend the avocado, though you don't get much of that either, though you do pay extra. All in all my poke bowl did the trick as far as satisfying my hunger, and the price was ok (if you discount the steep delivery fee which isn't their fault). It's right next to Shake Shack and my daughter frequently ate here while going to MIAD. The hubby and I checked it out today while taking care of business in the Third Ward. The board is easy to read. You pick a base (mine greens, the hubby rice) next the type: we both had spicy tuna which comes with marinated tuna or unseasoned, edamame, jalapenos, and crunchy topping. Def a 5/5 stars! I love it here. First time in Milwaukee and I tried 3 different poke shops around the area, this is the best one!!! Here's what I ordered so you can replicate the deliciousness: -1 large bowl (build your own) -brown rice -teriyaki seasoned salmon+tuna (next time i would just get salmon, personal preference) -all toppings except for any fruits -sauce: spicy aioli + signature sauce (tastes like sweet eel sauce) + sesame oil -added sriracha on the side i loved the big portions, definitely a bang for ur buck! the only COMPLAINT i would have is that theyre kind of SKIMPY on their fish... they cut it in tiny cubes (smaller than all the poke shops ive been to in my life) and they give very little fish, given that i ordered the biggest sized bowl. They should price the bowls by the number of protein scoops, not the size of the bowl... that's more effective. I only got a tiny bit of fish :-( sad read more

We went to Aloha Poke during the middle of the day when it was slower because we had to bring our daughter (for those who read my reviews you may know that our daughter has Autism and is adverse to loud places) and wanted to go during what we hoped was a quieter time (and it was). The staff was really nice and accomodating when we asked if the music could be turned down. They also helped us with the menu and how to order since this was our first time. My wife got the Poke Crunch Bowl and I went after the Chicken Volcano Bowl. I wanted it spicy and they absolutely delivered!! I loved the space and location is right in the Third Ward so not terribly difficult to get through, just can be difficult to find parking. Aloha is my go-to spot for lunch in downtown Milwaukee. They have great vegetarian options and speedy service. Only reason it's 4/5 stars is because I wish the bowls had more room in them to mix the ingredients around - everything gets squished with the lid and things fall out when you try to mix it. They are offering a $10 California Roll Bowl for the time being, but I recommend getting anything with the marinated tofu, which is my favorite. read more

This was my first visit to a Poké place. And in short, I'm immediately a fan. It's a smallish place, yet it feels open and airy. Probably in part thanks to big windows and the Hawaiian stylings. The staff was really friendly and on top of things. When you walk in, there's a prominent menu of instructions that clearly guides you through the choices you can make. You pick a size, a base (rice or greens), your protein, ingredients and sauces. It's quite easy to understand and follow. I didn't have to wait long for the bowl and it was wonderful. I got the Volcano house bowl with ahi tuna and brown rice. It was delicious - a bit of a kick and full of flavor. If I had to find one criticism - and it's very minor - the portion feels small for the price, but I suspect that has more to do with the quality of ingredients. I have no other Poké places to compare that too either. All in all, great experience - definitely urge everyone to check it out! read more

Poke seems like its everywhere in Milwaukee. not sure how this Hawaiian food wound up as the new food craze in the midwest but no matter, its delicious and relatively healthy Aloha poke is right off water st, next to Shake Shack in the third ward. Two things I noticed right away: 1.) 3 sizes! You can try a "little" if you're just looking to give it a try. 2.) Their banging sound system. Theres a large dining area as well as a counter facing the street and I appreciated the music, although I'll note it wasnt overally loud or obnoxious. Food: full disclosure, I was a little overwhelmed but heres what I remember: You can mix and match your own bowls but I chose one of 3 pre made choices. My choice, the "Crunch" I was told was most popular. you can get raw fish but I went with the grilled shrimp. I'm probably not remembering everything but you could get greens or several types of rice, or upgrade to seaweed salad. my little crunch bowl had tons of flavor and toppings, was fresh and colorful, and the little bowl wasn't all that tiny. I grabbed a quick build-your-own poke bowl from Aloha today after a business meeting in Walker's Point. Debated between this and Shake Shack next door, and am glad I went with this as a new option! I am a big poke fan but have only tried two places in madison. Aloha held up pretty well. The fish tasted very fresh and the prices and portions were fair. I was not a huge fan of the spicy aioli (seemed quite sweet), but all the other flavors were tasty and well-prepared. Service was decent. I was surprised they were empty at 12:30pm. Nice place. I dropped in during some recent inclement weather. It was nice that they were open. A 16-oz poke bowl at other establishments is usually more than I can finish in one sitting, but I wanted leftovers this time. So I ordered my bowl "Kahuna" sized (24 oz) and some miso soup because, well, miso soup. I had a filling meal and some poke to take to work the next day. The interior is very modern-looking and the people are nice. It wasn't busy when I was there but I'll chalk that up to the weather. There are really only a few "special" preparations but you can customize your own bowl as well. I like how you can get your protein "naked" or marinated. I'll probably usually go for marinated, but it's a nice option. I got the volcano bowl with marinated salmon. All the ingredients went well together and while there was a kick from the jalapenos and the volcano sauce it wasn't overwhelming. I liked the tobiko and the seaweed salad also. The miso soup wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad. I think they use firm tofu and it's usually the silken kind, so it tasted a little off. It had sesame seeds though which I liked. I'll probably come again when I'm craving poke in the Third Ward. read more

Love the poke here! This and FreshFin are usually my to-go places! We did the build your own, and if it's your first time I recommend getting the Samurai and Spicy Aioli combo with Naked tuna/salmon. First time I tried it I got the marinated salmon and it was way too saucy with everything combined. The two times I've ordered, the fish and veggies were super fresh. Not a big fan of the pineapples they use (just kind of mushy) so I probably won't get that next time. Pro-tip if you're a cheapo like me: get the mixed greens base and make your own rice at home ;) Enough for 2! read more

We decided to try this place since we were up this way for an Elite event. My husband went in to order and get our food. He said the gentleman who waited on him was very nice and it was pretty clean inside. We both thought there was a lot of rice compared to all of the other toppings. I'd rather pay a little more to have more toppings and more fish or at least bigger chunks of fish. That is the only reason for me they lost a star. We each got our bowls crunchy style and the flavors were delicious. Our main complaint was the lack of toppings/fish. We visited Aloha Poke for the first time for lunch. We ordered through the Ritual app, which made pick-up fairly easy. The service was pleasant, and the food was fresh and delicious. I would definitely return to Aloha Poke to pick up a quick workday lunch. We ordered the Big Crunch Bowl, which included marinated Ahi Tuna. The Little size with white rice was enough food for a solid lunch. If you're especially hungry, I would consider upgrading to the Big bowl. The tuna was fantastic, and the rest of the ingredients (mostly vegetables) were fresh and crisp. The "crunch" - little crispy onions? - were delicious and added a nice element of texture to the bowl. The spicy aioli + Samurai sauce was an excellent way to round things out. Aloha Poke is a reasonably-priced and fairly quick spot to grab lunch. We did wait a little in line and our food took a little longer than predicted, but the place was busy as it was peak lunch time. The atmosphere is pleasant and clean with fun Hawaii-themed decorations. The poke was delicious and there were plenty of menu options to choose from. This is my favorite Poke place. The portions are always spot on, never feel like there should be more of xyz ingredient. I've ordered to go and eaten in a few times. The restaurant is clean, they've never messed up my order, staff is incredibly friendly. It's cutely decorated and the noise level is peaceful-- a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the public market just one block over. You can typically find parking on the street outside, although TW is always more hectic when the sun is shining or during the brunch hours. 10/10 read more

Okay, let's point out the obvious. Two poké places opened up in the Third Ward, two streets away from each other, within like the same month. That's a lot of poké in a single radius. But am I mad about it? Not in the slightest. Aloha Poké offers a new fresh flavor, with classic bowl styles or build your own. Go for the Crunch Bowl, you won't be disappointed. They come in three sizes, I usually go for the smallest, but the middle is a good option for most. Since the first few weeks, they've definitely worked out their kinks. When I first visited, I didn't feel like I was greeted with the nicest employees. Since then, they must have agreed and made a change. Everyone who works there now is INCREDIBLY nice. If your food experience wholly depends on "Who" preps/serves the food for you, its not a sign of a good restaurant. Did a takeout from here twice for the very same order and left with 2 VERY DIFFERENT experiences. The first time, the gentleman who prepped my order was amicable, helped me understand all that I needed, answered all my questions and made the order perfectly. I paid $3 extra for Extra Protein and I could REALLY see that extra protein on there and it totally was worth the money, even if it was a tad expensive all in all. The second time, a different guy and he is dead faced serious, doesn't talk much and responses thrown colder than ice. First got my sauces confused and then questioned me in an impatient tone. I pay $3 extra for Extra Protein, and guess what, the protein on there is not even HALF of what I got the last time. To make matters worse, The Rice took 50% of the whole bowl and was lumpy, dry and felt old. For ~$20 for my bowl, Id rather hop over to its neighbor Shake Shack, be content with my food and have money left in my pocket! This to me felt more pretentious than substance. Shame... read more

I'm a HUGE fan of poké, so when a new restaurant came to town, I had to give them a try. I wasn't overly impressed by their menu (only 3 "signature bowls") but some differences looked intriguing like 3 different sizes (8, 16, or 24 oz), marinated protein, and seasoned rice. I did a build your own small bowl with marinated ahi tuna (delicious!) and added everything available besides the crunch (cucumber, Maui onion, jalapeño, edamame, pineapple, scallion, avocado - $0.50 extra, tobiko, seaweed, and ginger) on white rice. I got it for delivery (no minimum) and they forgot the edamame and tobiko which was very disappointing. I opted for the sesame vinaigrette which was light and nice. The 8oz bowl is only good for a lunch or very light dinner. I don't think I'd go back knowing that FreshFin is so much better. read more

Just discovered this gem for the first time and I will definitely be coming back. They offer both choose your own adventure bowls and prepicked options. The fish was fresh, they have unlimited toppings, and some really good sauce choices. This is a recipe for tastefulness. I would not recommend the miso soup, it was not my cup of tea. There was too much tofu and it was sunken with sesame seeds. They vibe of the restaurant was also very chill. It was clean and crisp like the food. My favorite feature was the wall of Hulu dolls. I stopped in grab a quick poke bowl for my lunch during the week and my initial impression of when I walked in was that the place looked super sleek. I had gotten in the mail a postcard with a free drink coupon with a purchase of a poke bowl. So, I thought I would go check it out and see how the food was. The workers behind the corner were SUPER nice and easy to help me pick out what I wanted in my poke bowl. All of them had a smile on their face and it was super welcoming. The bowls are very very good and have a couple of different sizes. There's a wide variety of combinations you can have which makes it very easy to find something you like. Poke places are becoming really popular, but I think this has to be one of my favorites in Milwaukee. Would definitely recommend! read more

Starting with the basics, they have 3 bowl sizes (little (8oz), big (16oz), and a giant one (24oz)). The little bowl was the perfect size for me, and I thought it was a fair price as well (~$8). I got the volcano bowl with marinated salmon and white rice. The salmon is really, really good. This is what is missing at some of the other poke places around town! If you have ever had "real" poke, you know that it is a mix of fish and sauce that is MARINATED to give it extra flavor, not just cubed fresh fish with sauce poured on top. This really put Aloha Poke in the 5 star realm for me. Also worthy of mention was the seaweed salad - on point, a little bit sweet, and also something I don't think other poke places around town have or have done well. Theg only thing that could have made the bowl better was if, instead of white rice, it was sushi rice. That would be a game changer in my mind.
