The details: I called Martin after a clog removal by another company went sideways (probably the topic of a no star review in the future). The first company identified where the problem was, but also caused a spill of sewage inside the house, then quoted me $5k to dig up the pipe and really fix the problem. To no one's surprise, I wasn't happy. So I called AHJ for a second opinion, and Martin answered the call. He spent a good 20 minutes on the phone, asking me detailed questions about the problem, and explaining my options (the other company did none of that). He made no guarantees, but said he thought he could solve the problem, so I asked him to have a look. He was at my house within 3 hours. The line had two objects stuck inside, causing backups. Martin worked to jet out one of the objects out, then used a camera to inspect the entire 80 ft. length of the pipe. The second object was still there, though, and it looked like digging was the only option. However, this is where the real magic happened! The second object was about 12 ft from the clean out, and it was not budging. Martin, however, thinks outside the box. He got out a large shop vac and stuffed the hose down the line. With the help of his camera he aligned the end of the hose with the obstruction and started up the vacuum. It took a while and was not easy work, but Martin eventually pulled out a 8" long, 2 lb. solid steel spring! That's no exaggeration (How that got in there I'll never know). It was Amazing! He also documented everything with his camera and thoroughly explained everything that we could see. So, I now know all about the good, and the bad, of my main sewer line, should any future problem arise. Thank you, Martin, for the exceptional service!

That was still a lot, but I agreed. I will say the man worked hard with an electric snake for a good hour. He fixed the problem. Unfortunately, I feel manipulated. Unfortunately, the experience didn't meet expectations. The technician required me to choose between three costly service options before examining the issue--a practice that felt unnecessarily pressured. Despite charging double the typical rate, they were unable to resolve the clog; the technician reported that his equipment malfunctioned during the attempt. They then quoted $4,000 for what they estimated as a few hours' repair that would be done by the end of the day. He didn't have a working drain snake, but he did have the ABS parts (inexpensive) to complete a full drain replacement at more than $1000 an hour. I sought a second opinion the same day from another professional plumbing company. The second company successfully cleared the drain for $328.72, including preventive treatment. They documented that the previous work hadn't addressed the actual problem and provided photographic proof of such with our receipt. UPDATE: I got the same "call me" from Michael T. Don't want to be cursed at again and already moving forward legally.

Unlike the previous contractors--one assigned by SLWA and another highly rated local company--Mr. Ed's team took the time to thoroughly investigate rather than guessing or rushing through the job. (Please note, Mr. Ed's was also assigned by SLWA after a continued issue) Adrian from Mr. Ed's was professional, patient, and methodical. Even when their sonar equipment couldn't pinpoint the tiny leak, he recommended a careful exploratory dig instead of making assumptions. During the exploratory dig, both Adrian and Ed (business owner) personally inspected every possible source, including indoor lines and the garage slab, and ultimately identified a combination of a very small leak, a branching pipe, and a faulty valve. I want to highlight that Ed and Adrian are exceptionally knowledgeable, and their extensive experience in the industry is evident. They were able to provide solutions and recommendations that other companies could not. Throughout the process, the office staff was respectful and helpful, especially as we navigated SLWA delays. When it came time for repairs--ultimately out‑of‑pocket--we chose to proceed with Mr. Ed's because of their thoroughness and integrity.
