    Worst place in ironbound!

WORST PLACE EVER!!! I grew up in the ironbound and know all the restaurants, this place is new and decided to try it out with my husband. HORRIBLE!! When we walked in it sounded like a sweet sixteen party was going on. Music blasting with cheap *** speakers! It's 9:00pm and this is a restaurant, who the heck is dancing?! It was a c*** party. Only one waiter who tried his best, we ordered margaritas which tasted like cheap frozen drinks. The so called DJ was a** and tried sounding like a DJ from 97.9 la mega. We didn't order food b/c we couldn't take how loud it was, Clubs are louder and sound better. STAY AWAY DON'T COME HERE !!! Joe's Crab Shack opened up a few blocks away, that's where we're heading to like RIGHT NOW!! I give this place -1,000,000,000,000 stars!!!

Tex-Mex & Sushi , Whaaaaaat?…read more This is the kind of place you go when you're hungry and "ballin" on a budget". In other words, you get a ton of food for an unbeatable price; however the tastiness factor isn't exactly up to par. Ideal for delivery and late night feasting that won't empty your pocketbook. -You won't leave here hungry, but you sure as heck won't be rushing back with pregnant lady cravings -Fresh Tortillas Grill gets extra points for friendly staff, convenient hours and offering delivery -They're version of a Quesadilla is piling ingredients between two tortillas, making it into more of a salad; with tortillas on the bottom and top. Absolutely nothing holds the ingredients and the tortillas together. The chicken was cooked & seasoned perfectly - Never heard of a Tex-Mex Sushi place before. Considering the limited dining options in Downtown Newark, I'll take it -The Restaurant itself is kind of an eyesore. It's run down and won't give ya' any "So Fresh, So Clean" vibes. On the flipside, when the food is so cheap, I'll sacrifice cleanliness for affordability.

Two solid stars. That's double what a Tex-Mex/Sushi restaurant should get!…read more The main thing is the Mexican, which dominates the menu. The stuff I had was nearly inedible, but you may be able to find something better. The sushi, though falling apart, was actually not bad. And there were plenty of condiments to go around. The teriyaki combo is just mexican food with teriyaki drizzle. I nearly cried the first time I came in--I placed my order, then the owner came out with a beautiful large fish, some delicious-looking greens, and various chinese sides. I said "Ooh, can I order that???" The person at the counter snickers. "No, we don't sell that!" Waahh. FTG is on the corner of drive by and drug deal, of which there is a view from my apartment. It's open late, even Sundays, which can be a lifesaver.

That sauce is honestly the standout it adds so much flavor. The taco bowl itself is super crunchy and has a really good taste on its own. I'm pretty sure it's fried, and honestly, I could eat the shell by itself. The portion size is BIG. You can easily split it into two meals, or if you finish it in one sitting, you'll be full for the rest of the day. For the price (not even $10), it's definitely a great value.Overall, really good food, filling, and worth the money. I'll be getting this again for sure.

I had the best taco…read moresalad of my life--the chicken was tender, everything was full of flavor, and the fried taco bowl was crisp and perfect. Didn't need to add a thing! It's a small hole-in-the-wall with only a few tables, and yes, you'll hear a lot of banging from the grill while they cook, but that's part of the charm. Prices are unbelievable--two taco bowls and two Mountain Dews ran us about $20 total! Where else can you get that? Service was great, they take cash and cards, and the food alone makes it worth dealing with the sometimes tricky parking in downtown Newark. I'll definitely be back to try the quesadillas, tacos, and more!!

They are renowned for their vibrant flavors, bold spices, and diverse dishes catering to all tastes using ingredients such as tomatoes, onions, garlic, and cilantro. Authentic Mexican food is more than tacos and salsa. The Garden State is hailed as one of the most diverse states when it comes to food, hosting some of the best Mexican restaurants on the East Coast. Whether one desires a quick taco or a full-course meal, my friends and I were craving rich and bold tastes from Mexico and decided on this family-owned establishment for an early Cinco de Mayo dinner. The reservation was easily made by calling Mariachi Grill, located on Ridge Road in Lyndhurst. Upon arrival at this popular spot to locals, with its cozy and casual interior decked out in traditional Mexican vibes, we were greeted by the staff and immediately got a table by the entrance, but they also have outdoor dining, weather permitting. The menu selection is much smaller than at other restaurants. We decided on the Cheese Enchiladas, Beef Enchiladas, California Burrito, Beef Burrito, Chicken Fries with Fries, and Shrimp Fajitas. Some meals are accompanied with a small portion of rice and black beans. Complimentary house chips and salsa started our meal. As the restaurant is working on their liquor license, it's BYOB. One can bring your own tequila or wine, and the staff will mix it with their sangria or margarita mixes. We washed our meal down with a pitcher of sangria. The presentation was very good. The food was made incredibly fresh, well seasoned, deliciously tasty, and generous. The price was very reasonable for the area. Our server Lisa with her outgoing personality and her desire to make our visit enjoyable, which we didn't feel rushed. Good experience overall, which we can recommend.

A couple of years ago, I wasn't able to pick up an order due to a situation I couldn't control. Ever since then, they've refused to let me place orders. Every time I call, I'm told I'm not allowed to order or have food delivered to my house because of that one cancellation. It feels unfair to be permanently blocked over a single incident from two years ago. What makes this even more upsetting is that I've stayed loyal despite some serious issues. At one point, I even found a cockroach in my food. While I did report it at the time, I chose not to leave a public review because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. They only replaced the food and didn't offer a refund or any real apology. I tried to continue supporting this place, but being denied service over and over again has made it clear that customer loyalty doesn't matter to them. It's disappointing because the food is good, but the way they treat customers makes it hard to justify coming back.
