Excellent products from Fate, Texas "Along Came Tamale". Owner/operators are a nice husband & wife team that make their own tasty tamales from healthy recipes. I visited today and spoke with owners. This location actually does offer dining-in, with a small dining room, but customers mostly are eating at home with family & friends. The mini gourmet tamale factory stays busy in Downtown Fate, Texas, selling 8-packs of frozen tamales in a variety of flavors. Frozen, buy very easy to heat up at home. Farmer Markets: You can find Along Came Tamale stand at Rowlett Farmer Market on Thursdays, and the Rockwall Farmer Market on Saturdays. I didn't know this was a coffee shop. The sign on the building says "Along Came Tamale", so, silly me, I walked through the door hoping to get fed. I was really hungry, as in weak-kneed hungry, so coffee wasn't going to help at all. What they have are frozen tamales, locally made but still frozen. Frozen solid. Reading their list of tamales, I was intrigued by concept of "lentil and curry" tamales. So, I basically called out "Barrista, sell me half a dozen of those Indian Fusion Tamales", which is what she did. While she was at it, I had her throw in a package of black bean & corn as well. By the time I got home, the package had thawed enough for me to break the vacuum-packed lump into individual tamales. I microwaved one tamale of each type. Lunch. Ah, yes, lunch. Both types of tamales are good, a stop worth repeating. read more

Downsized a bit (combined with the coffee shop ) but the tamales are still awesome , we have tried all the flavors but the pork is the best !not a far drive from Rockwall so that's a plus . read more

I will be quick and simple. The food was amazing and tasted great. Tried the pork and chicken tamales and was pleasantly surprised to be reminded of my mother's tamales back home. Really great tasting. Can't recommend enough to try this place out. read more

Some of the best tamales I've had. First came across them at a farmers market and fell in love at first sight. Had to go to the store front in Fate, near Rockwall, to get some more to share with friends and family. Owners are so nice and very helpful. Would totally recommend coming here. They said you can even call ahead for hot tamales which I will definitely be doing next time I go there. read more

I love that there is a tamale shop here in Fate close to my home. They offer frozen tamales to take home, or hot ones to eat immediately. I went to pick up some to eat during the holidays and the lady working was very nice to cook me up some fresh cheese and jalapeño tamales. I bought cheese and jalapeño, pork, and pineapple tamales frozen, and they were all amazing. The cheese and jalapeño were my favorite, and the pineapple were so sweet and desserty, I just loved them! On one hand I hate to do this, my first yelp review, but I feel that this is the purpose of this app. At the price I paid for two packages of tamales I feel obliged to put in a comment. I chose to steam my tamales so they wouldn't dry out as sometimes in the microwave things cook unevenly. So they reheated well in about 20 minutes in a steamer. Upon unwrapping them I found the chicken ones pretty bland. A friend of mine told me she thought they had way too much MASA and not enough filling. They have a little bit of flavor but they're pretty crumbly on the inside and not much flavor. But the spinach ones, spinach and feta, were very disappointing. I suppose it was the feta cheese but the consistency was that of solid masa. Masa flavored with cumin. They had a slight green tinge which I suppose was some tiny amount of chopped up spinach but there was no flavor beyond cumin. Price break down is two dollars a piece for these tamales. I would expect a whole lot more. read more

These are truly authentic. I grew up in Los Angeles, and while I love Tex Mex, I've found tamales in Dallas lacking flavor. There have been some good ones here and there, but overall it isn't a strong suit here. I found these, and it's owner Ruben, at the Lakewood Farmer's Market today. Ruben is originally from Southern California as well and the taste was super consistent with everything I remember from growing up. We took home some chicken tomatillo and black bean/corn. If you're in East Dallas, and originally from the Westcoast, you need to grab you a dozen or two. Seriously, it's a taste of home. I plan to stock the freezer with a few dozen for the holidays. Through the frozen ones in the instant pot or in the microwave and you're set. read more

Just stopped in here to check out their tamales. Lots of different types available. Sampled the ancho chile pork tamales...yum! They have vegan and sweet tamales too...including seasonal pumpkin tamales until they are gone! Bought a couple dozen pork and chicken tomatillos for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner.
