My car needed a smog check and I was hoping to find a spot that wouldn't take too much time. I was looking through a few places off Yelp, many of which sounded pretty good; I ended up choosing Alosta and I am very pleased with my visit. Visited the shop around 1:10pm and luckily it wasn't very busy. I was seen right away, I was provided the easy paperwork to fill out while Andy did his part. Waited only a brief time and had a chat with another customer who had come after. Then soon enough, my car was ready to go. Overall, I was only there for 10 minutes! From my arrival to paying and receiving my keys back. I recommend bringing cash to save on any additional fees. It was 40 dollars for my smog check with cash. DMV got the results by next day for me to be able to renew my registration online. Super easy and quick! Best for me since I lagged doing the smog check and renewal this year a bit. But still enough time to get my new registration before my last one expires. Definitely would visit again when I'll need service again. read more

I just bought a Ford E350 cargo van from an online auction and while driving back I stopped by for a smog so I can get it registered at DMV. Andy was the guy who ran the test for me and he was quick and easy to deal with. Best part was the price it was only $40 in all with certificate, good deal! I came back with my Lexus to get tested but my check engine light was on. I thought my check engine light was on because my gas cap was not keeping a good seal. I bought a new gas cap week before but check engine light would periodically turn off and on. Andy helped me to run diagnostic test leading me to discover what was really wrong. I've been going to Alosta Smog for over 10 yrs. My cars usually pass, but once my little Nissan pickup ALMOST passed. The guys there told me to go get an oil change and drive it around some on the way there the next day to warm it up. It passed no problem. Now I have a 97 Lexus LS 400, and she passes every time. I walked in with the paperwork, handed them my keys, sat down in one of the three chairs in their "office" (little corridor adjacent to their open air garage), and 20 minutes later, I fork over $40 (exactly) and walk out the door. Well I'm glad everybody else noticed the creepy waiting room and filthy chairs, Not even a HELLO. My car cost $40 too but then it did not pass and was told to come back after I drove it couple days cuz I had a small gas cap leak so I purchased one from them for $20 with no mention of anything else money-wise but then when I came back and they said that's another $20 bucks for the retesting and certificate. Wife took her car here 9/22. it didn't pass, we weren't sure why we checked the codes online and it lined up with what they told here a charcoal box of some kind about a 300 repair. After further research it was loose gas cap I THOUGHT. tighten it reset computer drove 100 miles took it somewhere else PASSED total cost to me ZERO. They should have known it wasn't going to pass with the check engine light on, they don't offer a retest, not even a discount on it. MOST of they competitors will retest free. or reduced rate. When we went to Auto Check in Covina, they checked to make sure the codes were clear, they also found a hose was unplugged. no proof it was Andys but it sure seems like it. You got my money but you lost a customer who has been going there for the last 7-8 years. read more

If I could I'd give him a zero. My motorhome is a 1996. I've owned it for 14 years and have not had any issues. It's runs like a top. Apparently he's not interested in smoging it because he plugged in his OBD two sensor into the plug and said it didn't have power which is wrong. In the first place it is an OBD one not a two and you would think after 14 years of getting a smog every two years it would be easy but no he's making it as difficult as possible and as near as I can tell he's not interested in smoging it. It's obvious he doesn't know what he's doing. So I took it to another shop on route 66 (route 66 smog), pulled in, he hooked it up, he smogged it and I was done in about 30 minutes. read more
