I suggested Alotta Brownies to a friend for her wedding reception. (I used to be a fan and used to venture to Fremont just for a sweet treat.) She and her fiancé headed out to Fremont, loved the cake and placed their order. On the day of the reception, the cake arrived with a bubble ... which was said to be caused by the heat ? (although perhaps one should expect this of a hot day if this was indeed the case and do something to prevent such a thing and not come up with excuses.) What was ENTIRELY disappointing and unacceptable was the cake itself. It was over baked, and the outside edges were brown. BROWN. Needless to say the cake was dry and lacked the flavor I and my friend had tasted in the past. My friend told me that the filling flavors were even wrong. Knowing this and the poor attitude that I recently received over the phone when trying to place an order recently I don't see myself ordering from here again. read more

I hired Alotta Brownies to make my wedding cake and I was unfortunately really disappointed. The picture I gave them for the example of my cake was not what I had received. My cake ended up being uneven and lopsided. it was not smooth in any place, the flower in the center was supposed to be a hydrangea and it ended up being some weird spikey leaf looking thing. It also looked like it was half way melted. One of my guests saw it and actually asked the baker if it had been melted, and her response was that it was supposed to look that way. It was awful. Definitely not something the owner should have been proud of or even let out of her store. It is quite sad that I wont hang up any of my cake cutting pictures because of how bad it looked. read more

Alotta Brownies made my daughter's first birthday cake, and I was beyond impressed. I asked my husband to get a girlie, antique cake. What he and the staff came up with was absolutely adorable!! The flavor of the cake was great and the frosting was to die for! Even some of my guests, who are not cake eaters, devoured it. I considered this bakery for my upcoming wedding. I had read great reviews online and decided to schedule a tasting. When I called to schedule the tasting, the woman made it a point to tell me that my wedding date was very popular and that she only had one spot left for that particular day. She went on to mention this two more times during our 5 min phone call. I appreciate her letting me know that I needed to get the ball rolling but I also felt as if I was being pressured to make a snap decision. During the tasting we tried a few different cakes and discussed what we were looking for. I was upfront with my budget and what I wanted (8 inch double layer cake with assorted cupcakes for around 175 guests). I was quoted over $600 and was told ,"You need to order more white cake than other flavors. People come to weddings to eat white cake." I felt pressured into ordering more cupcakes than what I actually needed. There were also additional fees for almost everything (which was not disclosed on the website I was referred to by the bakery). When it came time to discuss delivery/setup of the cake/cupcakes, my jaw about hit the floor. I was told that in order for my cake to be delivered to my downtown reception location, I would have to pay $120! This fee was just for delivery, I would have to pay an additional fee for the bakery to set up my items. It was then suggested to have an aunt or close family member pick them up the day before to avoid the delivery fee. When I responded that I did not want to put this huge task on a member of my family nor did anyone have the room to store over 300 cupcakes, I was told, "Oh they will be fine in the back of a SUV/Van in a dark garage overnight." Mind you, I had requested cream cheese frosting (which must be chilled) on some of the cupcakes. I felt like it was a very poor recommendation on her part and came across as lazy. I honestly felt like she did not want to put in the work of delivering my order. I ended up using a different local bakery for half the price, more options, great customer service and NO delivery charge. read more

Review is for baked items, not cakes. I was disappointed by each of the items we tried from truffles to pastries. The only decent item was the cinnamon roll. I don't want to know what they are using to make the filling for the cannoli as it was just wrong. read more

I stopped in to get a slice of cake and walked out with 2 cakes, 2 lemon bars, 2 cannolis and a bon bon! This is by far the best bakery in the Midwest for cakes! I have a favorite bakery on the Southside Chicago and one in Smyrna George and now in Fremont Nebraska! The vanilla white cake absolutely melted in my mouth and the lemon bars tasted like my grandma's recipe. ... spot on! Delicious treats. I will stop in every time I visit the area! read more

My boyfriend ordered a chocolate cake with white frosting for my birthday from Alotta Brownies Bakery in Fremont. The cake looked nice and I was happy to get the cake until I took my first bite. It was the worst tasting chocolate cake I have eaten . The flavor of the chocolate was flat and had an unusual taste. The frosting was equally disappointing. I love chocolate cake, but I could not even finish one piece of this cake. The box cakes and frostings I buy at the grocery store are 100% better and 90% less expensive. read more
