Another great Alpaca location. It was my first time at this location which is in a newer building. Plenty of space, separate window for online orders. Employees were friendly. I liked that they had two stations for beverages, sauces, silverware, dish collection. It keeps it from getting too congested. And, as always, the food is just phenomenal. I bought dinner for my family yesterday and everyone was disappointed. Even my 1 year old daughter didn't want the food. I ordered three veggie plates and two regular sides of Yuca since we are vegetarian and I know what you're thinking; "how can a restaurant mess up a persons order and all they got was vegetables?" Well, read carefully. The black beans were covered in a pool of bean juice (30% beans and 70% bean juice). The yuca was overcooked and hard making it very difficult to chew and I waited almost 20 minutes for green beans to be made. When I got home my wife opened the green beans and realized they were over cooked and soggy (falling apart). Not a single item out of the $50 dollars of food was good. This was my first time going to Alpaca. I ordered my food for take out and went to pay. The person on the register was so impersonal. Not a smile or acknowledgement of a customer. I was given a number and not told what to do with it. I went to a table and waited. When she brought my food I said "thank you" and she turned around and walked away. Zero customer service. While the food was good, I'm not sure if I'll patronize this restaurant again. I'm not looking for bubbly personalities but a single "thank you" would be appreciated. read more

The first time that I came here I got the Wednesday special which was the chopped chicken with tostones and a drink. Both items were seasoned well and cooked fresh. I think the food at Alpaca is delicious, especially when I want comfort food with a little sass. I'm not so fond of placing an online order and still having to wait for it. No, I didn't run to get it the second I hit "Place order" I waited until a little after the time it was supposed to be ready. The first sign something was amiss was when I was asked for my name and no one came back shortly after. When the associate did come back it was to hand someone else their order. I figured cool, cool, cool they probably ordered before I did. Then, another customer came up and gave their name, and got their food. Then, another customer came up, gave their name and got their food. Wait, the associate did ask my name again before the second customer came up. Then, the next person came up and you can figure out the rest. Then the associate tells me my order will be ready in a few minutes. In all, I had my food a little over fifteen minutes after it should have been ready. I get it, people order food at the counter and online. Places get busy and you have to wait. All good, fifteen minutes isn't a long time over the span of a lifetime. What's not so awesome is having to wait, watching other people get their food while you are getting weak in the knees from hunger (okay, that was a little extra). I don't mind waiting, but when you figure out my order isn't ready or you are having a problem finding it among the myriad of other online orders, just tell me. Don't leave me there looking at other customers enviously when they happily skip away with their food. That's irritating. Not a devastating, life altering situation, but still, just let me know. read more

Their chicken is super moist and flavorful. I also love the Maduros and rice. Their daily specials are also very good and they don't skimp on the portions. The restaurant is clean and pick up is fast and usually ready when they say it will be. The inside was very clean and orderly. Good lighting and overall nice location to dine in. We were greeting upon entering and allowed to look over the menu without being pushed to make an order. The customer service was plain Jane, nothing to write about. You come to order, they are there to do just that. If you looking for more...well this ain't the place. The pricing is a bit overpriced to me for what you get overall. However, I am aware of inflation and all that other jazz. The food was fresh and had a good flavor - that part I give a 10 out of 10. After taking three bites of chicken off of my plate I go back to the counter and there is absolutely no more chicken. I watched three people walk out justice disappointed as I was. I come here often with a friends for lunch and, although the food is great, the service is subpar at best. Customers are not greeted and, every time I've come here, I'm waiting in line for at least 5-7 minutes with no one acknowledging me. The workers are preparing other plates. Even though they see customers in line, they don't speak or say anything and continue making plates for other customers. My favorite Alpaca location is off of Capital. If this location can get their act together and actually acknowledge their customers, their rating would definitely increase. Like I said previously, no issues with the food itself. read more

Chicken did not live up to my expectations. I was hoping for something moist and succulent. It wasn't.

My family had a great dinner here this evening. We ordered a whole chicken cut into 8 pieces and three large sides to share. It was ready quickly. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. The restaurant was very clean with fun music and World Cup soccer on the TV. The bathrooms were also very clean. My husband eats gluten-free and thus is a great choice! It is in a small strip mall with a dental office and next to a Sheetz gas station I have enjoyed this food in Durham and this location was also excellent! read more

The chicken was juicy and had a nice grilled flavor to it. The yellow and green sauces were both good, I really can't pick a favorite. The yellow was more mustardy and the green had a very slight spice to it and a creamier consistency. The green beans tasted fresh, still had a nice snap to them and had a delicious cream-like sauce. The yuca fries were of course amazing (they go good with the sauces too)! The horchata was delicious as well. This is a great alternative for eating out, but not feeling bad about what you eat.
