    Curried Chicken Meal

I jumped for joy when I discovered Golden Krust! II drove over just before 6 and beat the dinner rush. I was not sure what to order when a young man suggested the Curried Chicken Glad I took his advice because the chicken was falling off the bone! Didn't need that hot sauce I asked for because the gravy was so flavorful with a subtle heat. The rice and pigeon peas, or fluffy and delicious. Of course I enjoyed the plantains too. I grabbed a spicy beef patty for breakfast. Hope it's good

My cousin brought me a shrimp patty from this restaurant over the weekend. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to go back to that restaurant and order dinner for the family tonight. I went in person and was hoping to try their jerk chicken but they were out of it. Instead I ordered six shrimp patties, one small curry chicken plate, one small curry shrimp plate, and one side order of mac & cheese. The cashier was very professional, patient, and friendly. As she figured out it was my very first time at this restaurant, she allowed me space to peruse the menu before ordering. The restaurant is kept very clean and everything smells wonderful. It's a nice little spot. The restaurant closes at 8 PM on Fridays and by the time I made it over to the restaurant, it was already 7:15 PM. They had already started cleaning up, but was more than happy to provide me with service. The chairs were sitting on top of the tables. I am not sure if this is a safety mechanism to not allow seating during Covid or if this was done as part of the cleanup activities since they were getting ready to close. Once my order was ready, I returned home with the food so that my family and I could have dinner. I was very pleased with the portions. Everything looked and smelled delicious. Being a native from the Caribbean, I am very particular about my rice and peas and the seasoning and texture of food. Every item ordered was great! The rice and peas was made just how I like it. The curry shrimp and the curry chicken had an authentic curry taste. The chicken was also very tender and moist. The Mac and cheese was tasty and well put together. The patties were made differently to how we make it in the Virgin Islands, but it was very flavorful, and the shell was soft and flaky. We enjoyed it. I had a great first experience with this restaurant. We enjoyed everything that was ordered and the customer service was on point as well. I will definitely visit again. February 18, 2023 Update: I stopped by this Golden Krust restaurant again today to see if I could try their jerk chicken plate. I ordered one large jerk chicken plate to go. I did not get any gravy or anything on it. They did provide two containers of jerk sauce though. On this visit, I observed that the table and chairs, were set out for customers to sit and eat. I guess during my first visit when I got there about 45 minutes before closing time, they had already started to clean up and prepare the restaurant for closure for the night. I enjoyed the jerk chicken plate. Everything was flavorful, and the chicken had great texture. The jerk chicken had the right amount of pepper spice but could've used a little more seasoning on the meat itself. When used with the jerk chicken sauce, it gave the chicken meat more flavor. Overall, I enjoyed the jerk chicken plate, and it was a satisfying dinner.

Solid Jamaican spot in Raleigh. I'm from Chicago so I'm pretty picky about authentic food, but this spot did it for me. It's cafeteria style, where they serve up your plate with what you want ordered. The chicken was well seasoned. The rice and peas were delicious. The mac and cheese was just right. Not to mention the portion was plenty and the perfect amount for the price paid. It was a ton of food. And to top it off, the jerk sauce had the right amount of spice. I will definitely be back!

This is our new go to spot for Jamaican food. The staff is very friendly and patient while you try to decide what you'd like. They'll even give you a sample to help you make up your mind. All of the food is displayed behind the glass serving counter so you can see and select what you'd like, and it's delicious! They had me sold when I saw they offered Festival! Although there's a few tables where you can dine in, most people get their order to go. The staff does keep the restaurant very clean, and it's very bright on the inside. We have been 2x in the last 2 months and definitely will be back.

I'm not gonna lie. Customer service is :( Reminds me of a friend of mine who was married, then divorced then remarried the same woman. She treated him like a redheaded stepchild lol I walk in and they just look at me. They don't acknowledge me so I show my way to the front to place an order. The lady just gives me a look, place the order again because maybe I didn't speak loud enough, and she asked me if it were one of each, and I said yes and she boxes it up, handed it to the next lady who also didn't really acknowledge me or even look at me. I ordered Some extras to go with that and she told me the price and that was it. I've never felt so unimportant especially when spending my money outside of paying my taxes and feeding the student loan monster his monthly calorie rich diet. I kind of feel bad about how it all that went down and I don't know if I even want to eat the food at this point. And to top it all off I don't think I got everything in my order. So as I sit in my car with the engine light on in the parking lot I'm debating if I should go back inside to resolve the issue with my order and go through all of that again or just leave it alone. I guess I'm saying life is hard enough and when we find these little escapisms and they spoil in front of our face then we have to find some purposed in all of it, good and not good. It's good to have experienced this, it keeps me humble. At this point I'm just gonna leave it alone and I will assume that the food is good and i was having an off day. I will say I contributed funds to an establishment that feeds people, this is how I will have to look at this transactionally. Given my experience and how it made me feel, me saying I won't be returning has no impact; I understand that I am unimportant and that what the world tells me but I know what I'm worth. I'm going to give them 3 more starts than I received from them based on the strength of my imagination assuming the food is delicious. It's a shame what we go through to make our money and it's a damn shame what we go through just to spend it.

As Jamaican transplant I am always on the lookout for Jamaican restaurants whenever I travel due to work. I have been to Golden Krust several times when I am in Raleigh. The restaurant is similar to others in the Golden Krust chain. They serve most of the staples of Jamaica cuisine: Jerk chicken, ox tail, patties, curry chicken etc. most meals are pre-made and reside in a warming tray. Some items such as curry shrimp are made to order. The staff was friendly and service was smooth. The Jerk chicken was flavorful and somewhat satisfied my craving for a taste of home. The curry shrimp was equally satisfying. The beef patties are not bad for either. Golden Krust is worth a try as long as your expectations are not unrealistic. Next time I am in the area I am definitely going back. Gotta do it for the culture.

I was so excited to hear that Golden Krust was coming to Raleigh. I have been to the Durham location a couple of times but this location is closer to my house. I bragged to my coworker how good the food was so we went together. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza with other businesses so there is a shared parking lot in front. The restaurant just opened this week so it was very clean, colorful and bright. There are several tables in the business if you choose to dine in. Nice pictures and a television were mounted on the wall. There is a small printed menu behind the counter where you order with the lunch options. The menu on the wall is hard to see. A larger menu with other options is located higher up behind the front counter. The restaurant offers a lunch size portion of stew chicken, curry chicken or goat. We both got the curry chicken with cabbage, rice & peas, and plantains. The curry chicken lunch special comes with a soda or bottle of water for $7.99. There is a cooler with drinks or a self serve machine with fountain drinks. The lunch specials are offered Monday-Friday from 10-2. The food was already prepared so it did not take long for our trays to be filled but it took a while for the cashier to check everyone out. There were several people serving the food but only one person checking everyone out. The container was filled with more than half of it with rice and peas. A small amount of cabbage and curry chicken were placed on top of the rice. The rice was not soft and tasted like it was old or not cooked long enough. My coworker thought it was dry. The chicken had a lot of small little bones in the chicken, sauce and potatoes. Neither one of us has ever had curry chicken with little bones in it. However the flavor was good. The plantains were tasty. The little bit of cabbage that I got was not bad. I wish there was more of it.

This was the first visit for my husband and he loved it! He ordered Fried Chicken for me and Oxtail Stew with Rice and Peas and Steamed Vegetables for himself . They ran out of fried chicken so he got Jerk Chicken with steamed vegetables and Cocoa Bread. He loved it a! I can't have spicy food so he has dinner tonight and tomorrow! If you enjoy Oxtails, you need to check them out.

The roti was tasteless , the brown stew chicken in the roti was way too salty. The beef patties were good and the service is a little slow.

She has such a wonderful personality and knows her ice cream. I was one of the first to enjoy her Gluten free Coffee ice cream with chopped up chocolate-covered espresso beans throughout. Then George took the cup of this delicious ice cream and torched it for a brulee finish. Amazing, indescribable, and I will be back for more soon kind of flavors! I have since checked out her flavor options and kick myself for not visiting her shop soon over at Iron Works. It is so close to where we live in downtown Raleigh. No more excuses. We are heading there this weekend for a Valentine's Day treat of one of her many boutique flavors. Plus I love that Andia truly cares about the Gluten Free population and offers so many wonderful-sounding flavors for them.

We decided to get ice cream in waffle cone since we couldn't get the milkshakes. I got the Cookies N Cream in a waffle cone My wife got the Cotton Candy in a waffle cone. The cookies N Cream was good but, the waffle cone was not. The waffle cones are the "softer" ones, i was expecting the classic crunchy waffle cone. I just ate the ice cream with a spoon out of the cone. The cotton candy was not good. It tasted like sugar free ice cream. Same thing with the waffle cone as I previously wrote. The service was great! The ambiance was nice. Not sure if we would go back, our favorite ice cream shop is in Durham and I would prefer to drive 30Min to that place. I would rate Andia's ice cream shop 5th in the Raleigh/Durham area for ice cream. *I would say give it a try I may love it.
