This was such an amazing experience! My mom, brother, & I did the two hour climbing session & all of us have never climbed before. Our tour guide Carl was absolutely incredible. He helped us all to feel comfortable and maneuver through the course & even when my mom felt like she was going to pass out, he was prepared and ready to assist. Honestly, I'm terrified of heights but this was amazing. The entire experience was expensive but incredibly organized and well-done. I would 100% do this again and I without a doubt recommend this anyone who is looking into it!

Our via feratta was AMAZING!!! Highly recommend Liam and his team. We were signed up for the 3 hour and ended up doing the 4 - was SO FUN!

Via Ferrata Tahoe - 2 hour route

This is a must do!!! You definitely have to be in shape enough to handle climbing for extended periods of time. There are plenty of places along the way to take water breaks and to catch your breath. All of the crew was incredible, you feel very safe and the views are stunning! We did the two hour tour and my family all agreed that this was their favorite part of our Tahoe trip. Thank you to Andrew for capturing great photos along the way and being a wonderful guide.

Our group had a great experience during the 2 hour Via Ferrata adventure at Squaw Valley. Tim and Mike were our tour guides and they did a phenomenal job explaining how the climbing system works, guiding the group, keeping us safe & hydrated and taking incredible pictures of everyone while they were climbing. These two rocked and beat all my expectations. On the day we did our climb the weather said it was 85 degrees but it definitely felt hotter. The 1 water bottle requirement is definitely necessary if it's hot out and I would highly recommend bringing a camel pack if you have one. I can't wait to go back and do the 4 hour climb.

My 24 year older son and I did the three day frog lake hut trip. From Sarah in the front office to our fantastic guides, Tim and Ally, everything went smoothly and professionally. The trip was an amazing experience as we learned so much and everyone was so friendly. They even brought our garbage and extra gear out for us!! I highly recommend Alpenglow Expeditions for professionalism, safety and accommodations.

I took the 2 hour excursion on the Via Ferrata, and had a great time! The guides made us all feel confident and comfortable, and they led us with skill and humor!

The Tahoe Via Ferrata was a highlight of our trip. The team at Alpineglow Glow expeditions is top notch, and a special shout-out to our guide Isaac! He was very attentive to our parties needs, our group of six had people from age 8 to 66 years old and Issac made sure everyone was comfortable and having a good time. My only regret is only booking the 2hr tour, next time we are definitely doing the 4hr trip. The route itself is well maintained and fun for people that have never climbed, to the experienced climber. I highly recommended Tahoe Via Ferrata at Palisades Tahoe for a fun family outing!

We had the best time with our guide Andrew on the three hour tour! I've never rock climbed before and the Tahoe Via Ferrata was so much fun. It's a tiny workout but you can go at whatever pace you need/want depending on your preference. Nearly anyone can do this - you just need to be up for an adventure and beautiful views.

We did the 2.5 hour climb with Dustin, who was energetic, helpful and made the whole experience fun and relaxing. We had 2 tweens with us who loved the challenge and had no problem with the climb or the gear. It's not a walk in the park, and requires some mettle and recognition of heights. But even with a fear of heights, I felt safe and challenged. Quite a thrill! Can't wait to try the larger climb to the summit next time! All Covid precautions were taken and we were masked and gloved any time we were near each other. We were not masked while climbing so you may want to make reservations within your own circle.

We did a 2-hour Via Ferrata tour in Tahoe with our 2 kiddos (ages 7+9) and it was fantastic! Our guide Mic did an amazing job helping & accommodating our kids. It was a highlight of our Tahoe vacation & the perfect amount of "epic". Highly recommend a trip with Alpenglow!

The guides Mike and Luke were simply amazing. So are all the folks in their staff. Both are experts in what they do. I have low athletic aptitude and combined with my apprehension of heights, the guides went an extra mile to show me the techniques to navigate through the terrain. Because of fear of heights, my brain would freeze and the guides expertly helped me get unstuck by telling me where to step and the order of steps to take. The view outside was stunning. Never in my life would I have imagined climbing a mountain and exploring it through impassable terrain. Never in my life would I have imagined I could traverse through this type of seemingly impassable terrain. I was so close to not showing up due to fear of heights and I feel elated and blessed I did. I also want to point out that the guides put safety first and they know exactly what to do to keep everyone safe. For example, they would notice if the rope was tangled even before I did. They also closely monitor us to make sure we succeed. The staff are also knowledgeable and friendly. Overall, it was amazing and I am blessed to confront my fears with expert guidance from the team.

A day session is $25 but they have a cheaper rate for certain drop in hrs so ask if you have flexibility. There is also a sauna which is lovely. The only downside is that it is very small. I went for bouldering only and it's one large room and that's it. It was fine for 1-2 sessions but if I'm a regular, I'd really want a bigger gym with more routes. That said, any rock climbing gym in the community is always a big big plus for me!

Nightlife in Tahoe? Climbing gym :)…read more I love checking out climbing gyms wherever I go, and I thought Blue Granite was pretty good! Disclaimer: this is only based on my one time experience here. The gym is located a bit of outskirts of town but since I stayed a bit out, it was only 5 mins drive. Super cute building sitting in a forest, small parking lot but I didn't have trouble finding parking. Workers are required to give you a tour of the gym and mine was very friendly and thorough. The gym has little touches here and there to make it special. There is a partner board where people leave their information and names, how cute is that? Also, I enjoyed browsing through the climbing artworks they displayed in the hallway. Lastly, I loved how they up-cycled ropes for bathroom curtains. The route settings are fun! Since the wall space is precious, the settings can be compact. Lots of different colors of holds to identify and read. I'd say the grading is somewhat on the same level of Movement gyms in the bay, so slightly harder than the touchstones. The vibe is chill and friendly, not super packed, kids aren't running around, I personally got tired of the music towards the end though, but that was it. I didn't get to try their yoga/Lyra/Dance classes, but it's so cool they offer those especially Lyra or Aerial classes which you may have to pay $40-$50 for in the Bay Area. Will definitely be back!

It's hard for me to leave a mixed review because I live in this small town with about 20K people so…read morereviewing something critically when there's a high chance my kids go to school with whoever manages this place isn't my favorite. I've been clicking "like" on all HAF posts on Instagram and Facebook since they opened the Truckee location so I think I can qualify as a super-fan. With that background... Pros (Truckee location): It's clean. The equipment is well maintained. The routes are great! Love the route-setter's names is included on every route. (Great job setting cool routes!). The rentals (shoes and harness) are cheap and they've had all the sizes I've needed for guests - the rentals are clean and it's easy/fast to check out. The people in the gym are friendly and appropriate (no weird meat-market vibe going on). Enough weights to get core exercises done even when it's busy. There's three areas to do weight machines so if one area is busy I just move to another area. When they close at night, there's plenty of heads up and the staff is friendly about getting everyone out. Parking can be tight at times but I have always found a spot. The lockers have Apple and Android phone chargers in them so when you're done working out, your phone is charged up too! Bathrooms are clean too - never seen a mess in there. Cons: The 2 other posts before mine are 100% accurate which is what caused me to leave this review. I'll echo the 2 negative points here: 1. The pricing (for kids) on the website and in the office isn't accurate. You must do 2 adults first (even if the people aren't adults) before you do the $45 child add on. This is terrible for single parents (of course) and isn't even really fair because children (under 14?) can't use the weights and must be supervised at all times so they can't even use the whole gym, so why bill children at the same rate as adults? Asked them to update the website so at least people would have expectations set correctly but no response. 2. The whole front office part of the gym is terribly frustrating. The waivers are miserable. The staff don't understand how to explain to people how to do them. I think the staff hate them. Adding someone to your plan causes you to have to redo everything. I tried to bring one of my son's middle school friends and it was a nightmare. The other dad ended up just driving over to do it. Every time I've needed to talk to someone at the front desk (except for rentals) it's been really bad. Expect a nightmare and you'll be fine. The good news is if you can survive the *ultra* frustrating part of getting into the gym, you'll very likely end up enjoying your experience there. Whoever owns HAD Truckee, I'm sorry for the critical review, will modify it rapidly or remove it if you ping me! Please don't TP my house!
