KJ and Dad Star Gazing Kayak Tour with Clearly Tahoe.

I recently had the absolute pleasure of joining Clearly Tahoe's Stargazing Night Kayak Tour in South Lake Tahoe with my son, KJ, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, it was the kind of adventure that etches itself into your memory forever. Every single staff member we met was warm, professional, and genuinely passionate about creating a special experience for their guests. Our guide, Jason, stood out in the best way possible -- knowledgeable, engaging, and full of enthusiasm that made the night both fun and unforgettable. He truly made us feel like more than just participants; we felt like part of a shared adventure. The tour lasted two incredible hours, from 10 PM to midnight, and paddling out into the calm, glassy water at that hour felt like drifting into another world. Above us stretched a brilliant night sky, clearer and more vivid than anything we'd ever seen. We watched shooting stars streak across the heavens and found comfort in recognizing familiar constellations like Cassiopeia and Ursa Major (the Big Dipper), which seemed to shine brighter than ever over the lake. The reflection of the stars dancing on the water made it feel as though we were floating through the cosmos itself. Nature added its own surprises throughout the tour. A massive fish suddenly leapt from the water right in front of my son, startling him at first but quickly turning into laughter and excitement. While we didn't spot the bears or beavers we had been hoping to see, we did encounter frogs and other wildlife that made the night feel alive and full of wonder. And thanks to Jason, I'll never forget a few incredible facts about the lake itself: Lake Tahoe is 22 miles long (north to south), 12 miles wide (east to west), with a surface area of 191 square miles and 72 miles of shoreline. At its deepest point, it reaches 1,645 feet. The lake holds approximately 40 trillion gallons of water -- about 36 cubic miles -- and loses around 500 million gallons each day just from evaporation. Learning these details while sitting on the lake itself gave us an even greater appreciation for its beauty and power. The combination of the serene lake, the dazzling night sky, the wildlife encounters, and the incredible team at Clearly Tahoe made this experience far exceed our expectations. It wasn't just a tour; it was a moment in time where my son and I could connect with nature, share wonder, and make memories we'll cherish for a lifetime. If you're visiting South Lake Tahoe and want something unique, awe-inspiring, and absolutely unforgettable, this is an experience you cannot miss.

Highly recommend!! We booked ahead of time for a 8:45am slot. We booked a double plus a dog. You meet at the Safeway parking lot and they drive you to the beach. Everyone is super nice. Once we got to the beach, you'll step into the kayak. Note that you'll get your feet and calves wet because you'll need to step into the lake to get in so I highly recommend you bring waterproof shoes. You'll need to step into the water to get out so your feet will be sandy. The entire tour is great, you'll get a history of the lake and kayak by cave rock. The guide also takes pics for you and airdrops at the end. They provide life jackets for the dog as well as a nonslip mat. Great experience and it's a little pricey but if you've never done it before, I think it's worth it.

We booked the LED Glow sunset tour at Tahoe Keys. Our tour guy (I think his name was Jake) was great and funny. He explained everything in detail and show us how to paddle as well. The tour included water and snacks which was a nice touch. The experience was great, the only reason I am not giving a 5-star is because the kayaks were pretty scratched up so you couldn't really see the lake. I will definitely book again with them but at one of their other locations were the waters aren't as murky as Tahoe Keys

Clearly Tahoe is just an amazing experience. We were able to rent a clear kayak and paddle near some beautiful points at the lake (all super close), it came with all the safety equipment, they had some uhh boxed water? But it was dope, especially since me, myself and I dont know how to swim. Thank you Gio and the entire staff. Just a few more points x We came from Vegas. We met at like a store, then they drove us the cove from where we were heading out. We did the early morning trip. We would absolutely do it again.

We had an amazing time during our first visit to Sand Harbor. We rented the clear bottom kayaks. The water was cool but beautifully clear. The kayak service was great. They had a good variety of options and charged by the hour. You do not get charged until you return the kayaks.

A bit of a wait for walk up (about 20), but the kids hung out at the pool Ayer while we stood in line. Some great tips during the debrief (safety, sights). My son loved jumping off bonsai rock.

My friends and I booked two double person kayaks at 10 AM for the Bonsai tour, Clearly Tahoe informed us via text that we would have to come earlier due to road work on Highway 28 which was very helpful. The actual tour was so fun! We checked in, got fitted for our life jackets, took a shuttle to the beach, and got situated in our kayaks. It surprisingly did not involve a lot of arm power, and at no point did we feel like our kayak was about to tip over (even when we hit rocks or other kayaks!) Our tour guide Russ was such a fun and knowledgeable guy to be around. He was doling out facts about Lake Tahoe and the surrounding areas like no tomorrow. He also climbed all the way up on top of the rock to take our photos! Needless to say, we tipped him well. The only thing I would even have to mention that is negative is that if you wanted to stay afterwards and rent a kayak (non-guided), you would have to take the shuttle back and then drive yourself to the beach, then pay the money to park your car. Ideally, we would have the option to kayak immediately afterwards, then take the shuttle back at a designated time! If that was the case, I'm sure I could have convinced my friends to stay for a little while longer to rent a kayak. However, due to the inconvenience, we decided to call it quits after the tour ended.

They are professional tour guide. First time with them to the bonsai rock. Love our experience. Nothing to complain at all. Highly recommended

Wonderful experience from start (booking) to finish. Very professionally ran ...we were fitted for our life jackets and given snacks/water and ready to leave for the shuttle prior to our start time. The girls driving us to the location were friendly and informative, giving us historical information. Our guide Ethan was the BEST! He was friendly, got to know everyone in the group and had a great sense of humor. He took great photos of our group (individually) then with the rest of the family. All the equipment are in great condition. Highly recommend this company!

Beautiful kayaking but only gets 4 stars for the following reasons. - Delayed start. The email confirmation said to arrive 30 minutes prior to start time. I arrived at 7:30am, and the business was not officially open. My 8am kayak didn't start until 8:30am. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but I was pressed for time. -Scratched clear kayak. I rented a completely clear kayak and the bottom was pretty cloudy/scratched. It was a cool experience, but I wish I had just rented a regular kayak. The completely clear kayak was also more unstable than a regular kayak. I don't think completely clear was worth the money.

A five-star experience from beginning to end! We booked a guided kayak tour through Clearly Kayaks and are so glad we did. Our group was intimate and our guide Chris was amazing! He entertained us with fun facts, sang opera at one point and played kayak frisbee with us. The views were my favorite part - you can see down 60 ft when the sun is shining. The staff provided us with a lunch box with water and snacks. It was also a great workout ahead of a long travel day. A few tips: * book early as tours fill up in advance * plan to arrive 30 minutes early * wear layers if you are going early * bring cash or use Venmo to tip your guide! What a great experience! Hope to do this again someday but it will be tough to beat the views in Lake Tahoe. :)

What an incredible experience. I booked a 9:00 reservation with them for my wife's birthday. Upon arrival you're greeted by the staff who all seem incredibly happy to be there and help. We boarded a ferry that took everyone from the Tahoe Keys across the lake to the northern Nevada side. They had coffee and snacks ready for everyone and blankets for anyone that got cold on the boat. Our tour guide Caitlin was great. She loaded us with Tahoe facts and made the experience even more interesting and climbed up on the rocks to take pictures of all of us in our kayaks. The kayaks were clean and let you see straight to the bottom of the lake. We ended up getting back to the Keys around 1:00. Overall the people and the experience were a 10 out of 10, I'd highly recommend them for anyone and any skill level. Thank you!

Called in last min, they were able to accommodate my group of 5 last minute. Staff is super helpful & kind. Experience was GREAT. No one in my group was an experienced kayaker and we did just fine. Definitely a work out. A must in my yearly Tahoe trip moving forward

We ended up choosing Tahoe Experience because Bret was so positive, patient, and offered great prices. On the boat, we had Chris, a freelance captain who works with Bret. Chris was a joy to be around. He was super relaxed, funny, and kind. He took great care of us during our boat rental. The ride to Emerald Drive took about 30 minutes, and we spent an hour there before heading back. Sadly, I got hurt while paddleboarding. It was all my fault since it was my first time. Chris helped me out of the water, took care of my scrapes, and drove us back to shore safely. He even gave us the closest emergency hospital details and offered to refund half of the agreed amount. We were so grateful for his help and really appreciated his kindness. Bret texted me to check in and say he was sorry about what happened. Bret and Chris are truly amazing people to work with. Even though I was at fault, we had a blast meeting Chris and having him as our captain. I definitely plan to reach out to Bret again when I visit Tahoe in the future and would highly recommend his services to anyone who comes to the area.

We decided to park in a parking lot across the street from where they are stationed at the beach, but there was limited parking and we had to wait for someone to leave. I appreciated that they showed us a visual map of where we could go in our time span, and provided us with a couple options. We decided to go to the marsh area, but there were plenty of other beach stops further down the lake. We brought our dog with us and they had a lifejacket for her. The first one they gave us was too big so they even went back to their storage and got one that fit her better to ensure her safety. The kayaks were well-maintained and felt reliable, especially with some of the choppier waves we were experiencing that day. I'll book with them again when we come back. It's also in a convenient location next to Sprouts Cafe, which has great food and fresh juices either before or after your kayak trip.
