Great clear bottom kayaks (canoes) enable you to see the crystal clear water. Great tour guide accompanied us on our two hour excursion. Van picks you up and transports you to the lake and provides life vests, waterproof bag, cooler with water and a snack. The only thing I would improve is the embarking and disembarking process. Trying to get out while over water is a bit of a challenge. Maybe some rubber mats on the beach would enable you to get out on dry land. Otherwise, everything was amazing! read more

I recently had the absolute pleasure of joining Clearly Tahoe's Stargazing Night Kayak Tour in South Lake Tahoe with my son, KJ, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Highly recommend!! We booked ahead of time for a 8:45am slot. We booked a double plus a dog. You meet at the Safeway parking lot and they drive you to the beach. Everyone is super nice. Once we got to the beach, you'll step into the kayak. Note that you'll get your feet and calves wet because you'll need to step into the lake to get in so I highly recommend you bring waterproof shoes. You'll need to step into the water to get out so your feet will be sandy. The entire tour is great, you'll get a history of the lake and kayak by cave rock. The guide also takes pics for you and airdrops at the end. They provide life jackets for the dog as well as a nonslip mat. Great experience and it's a little pricey but if you've never done it before, I think it's worth it. read more

We booked the LED Glow sunset tour at Tahoe Keys. Our tour guy (I think his name was Jake) was great and funny. He explained everything in detail and show us how to paddle as well. The tour included water and snacks which was a nice touch. The experience was great, the only reason I am not giving a 5-star is because the kayaks were pretty scratched up so you couldn't really see the lake. We rented 2 bikes for 2 hours, which was plenty of time to explore the area. The employees showed us how to use the bikes and gave us a bike trail map. The trails around the area were a ton of fun. We did not reserve in advance, but it was a weekday, so it may be recommended to do so on busier days. The bikes worked great. The employees were nice, friendly, and helpful. They also have cool a cool shop to buy stuff from. Definitely recommend checking them out! read more

My friends and I booked two double person kayaks at 10 AM for the Bonsai tour, Clearly Tahoe informed us via text that we would have to come earlier due to road work on Highway 28 which was very helpful. The actual tour was so fun! We checked in, got fitted for our life jackets, took a shuttle to the beach, and got situated in our kayaks. It surprisingly did not involve a lot of arm power, and at no point did we feel like our kayak was about to tip over (even when we hit rocks or other kayaks!) Our tour guide Russ was such a fun and knowledgeable guy to be around. He was doling out facts about Lake Tahoe and the surrounding areas like no tomorrow. He also climbed all the way up on top of the rock to take our photos! Needless to say, we tipped him well. The only thing I would even have to mention that is negative is that if you wanted to stay afterwards and rent a kayak (non-guided), you would have to take the shuttle back and then drive yourself to the beach, then pay the money to park your car. Ideally, we would have the option to kayak immediately afterwards, then take the shuttle back at a designated time! If that was the case, I'm sure I could have convinced my friends to stay for a little while longer to rent a kayak. However, due to the inconvenience, we decided to call it quits after the tour ended. read more

Beautiful kayaking but only gets 4 stars for the following reasons. - Delayed start. The email confirmation said to arrive 30 minutes prior to start time. I arrived at 7:30am, and the business was not officially open. My 8am kayak didn't start until 8:30am. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but I was pressed for time. -Scratched clear kayak. I rented a completely clear kayak and the bottom was pretty cloudy/scratched. It was a cool experience, but I wish I had just rented a regular kayak. The completely clear kayak was also more unstable than a regular kayak. I don't think completely clear was worth the money. read more

He entertained us with fun facts, sang opera at one point and played kayak frisbee with us. The views were my favorite part - you can see down 60 ft when the sun is shining. The staff provided us with a lunch box with water and snacks. It was also a great workout ahead of a long travel day. A few tips: * book early as tours fill up in advance * plan to arrive 30 minutes early * wear layers if you are going early * bring cash or use Venmo to tip your guide! What a great experience! What an incredible experience. I booked a 9:00 reservation with them for my wife's birthday. Upon arrival you're greeted by the staff who all seem incredibly happy to be there and help. We boarded a ferry that took everyone from the Tahoe Keys across the lake to the northern Nevada side. They had coffee and snacks ready for everyone and blankets for anyone that got cold on the boat. Our tour guide Caitlin was great. She loaded us with Tahoe facts and made the experience even more interesting and climbed up on the rocks to take pictures of all of us in our kayaks. The kayaks were clean and let you see straight to the bottom of the lake. We ended up getting back to the Keys around 1:00. Overall the people and the experience were a 10 out of 10, I'd highly recommend them for anyone and any skill level. Thank you! read more

My brother, fiancé and I did the 8:30am Bonsai Rock tour and it was great! This wasn't our first kayaking experience, but we wanted to try out the clear kayaks. I feel like the clear kayaks looked cooler in the photos than when you're actually in it, because it's harder to "see" through it with the sun and glare of the kayaks. Davis was our guide and he was enjoyable to hear his Tahoe stories. I've lived in CA all my life and have learned so much from what he had to tell! Everyone was super friendly, from the checkpoint station, to our bus driver, to our guide Davis! They gave us 2 water bottles and 2 granolas for our tour and because It was so hot, I basically ate/drank all of it! Davis even took our photos while we were kayaking around so this was a all around enjoyable experience and I highly recommend this tour! read more

We did the 6:45am schedule and it was a great experience. You meet them at the kiosk site and from there you take a very short shuttle ride to the lake . The lady driver of the bus was very nice & helpful. They provide you a vest, drinking water , bar snack and a waterproof bag Our tour guide Josh was very good explaining the safety, history & answering all the questions. The raft used had a clear material were you can see the rocks below. The kayaking itself is definitely for everyone even for 1st timers. The 90 min goes by fast as your learning, enjoying the paddling, enjoying nature & listening the Josh. So a lot of stuff happening. What we appreciated most is Josh taking our photos from a above as this is where you actually get to appreciate the beauty of the lake as you see it so clear from the video & photo taken by Josh. The kayaks are clear, with LED lights! You can even control the colors with a remote. Snacks were also provided. The tour guide, Giovanni, was the BEST!!! He was super friendly, kind and knowledgeable. He was great to everyone and made the tour fun. I've kayaked before, but this was by far the best experience. Looking for a rare and unique experience? An adventure which can only be found in one place? Something beautiful, romantic, and exciting? @clearlytahoe has got you covered; they offer see-through kayaks to paddle onto the lake. Tahoe is known for having exceptionally clear water, so paddling out to see the life below the surface from a clear kayak is already an awesome experience! However, when I saw that this company also installed LED lights into the vessels and run star gazing tours at night, I all but screamed, "Take my money!" The LED lights on the kayaks had a literal rainbow option of colors, including a strobe effect that went through them all. The kayaks themselves, well, I wouldn't call them kayaks at all actually. Our guide, Veronica @ronirontron stated that they were modeled after a kind of canoe, this is to be certain that beginner paddlers do not tip over. In fact, you have to be TRYING to fall into the water to get these vessels to tip. Because the LED tours mainly run in the summer, with daylight savings, the tour start time is between 9:30 PM and 10:30 PM. Now if you've ever visited Lake Tahoe in the summer, you'll know that the lake is CROWDED during the day; boats, paddle boards, jet skis, inner tubes, etc. But at night? There is only the LED tour run by Clearly Tahoe. The water is crystal clear and smooth as glass since no one else is on the lake. I went on a beautiful, full moon night. Veronica said that shooting stars can usually be seen on the tour, but harder to spot during a full moon. Still, we viewed several constellations that Veronica showed us with a high-power laser pointer. I really enjoyed this experience and highly recommend it! Arrived at 8:15 at Sand Harbor to rent a paddle board. There is 1 attendant checking in customers. There's about 75 people waiting in line. The line goes all the way to the parking lot and not moving at all. Their website even says that it's their busy time. I have come other times and they have several people checking customers in and a bunch others getting equipment. Terrible planning when they know they are going to have a crowd waiting to rent at a peak time. I waited for 45 minutes and left. Still about 20 people in front of me. From check in to check out was a pleasant experience! The ladies who drove us to and from the kayaking site will answer any questions you have. COVID protocols require you to keep your mask on during 5-ish minute ride to site and no eating/drinking in the van during that time. They sanitize in between groups! Our tour guide was Ryan, he is very knowledgeable of the Tahoe area and also funny! Such a fun experience! We couldn't decide on which tour to do, so we ended up booking both the nighttime LED kayak tour as well as the extended shoreline tour. Ryan was our guide for the nighttime one and he as great! It was a little spooky being out on the lake in the dark but Ryan made it fun and comfortable. He had tons of interesting facts about the lake and was always making sure everyone felt safe. Jeff (Geoff? - I can't remember how it's spelt!) was our guide for the day time tour. He was also incredibly nice and made the tour so fun! He had a ton of facts, jokes, and didn't pressure anyone who was fatiguing and falling behind a bit. He was incredibly patient and had us laughing the whole time with his jokes and upbeat personality. He even took photos of us and airdropped them to my phone (social distance friendly!). If you're debating between the two tours, I of course recommend them both if you are able. But if you can only choose one, nothing beats the amazing views when the sun is out and you can see the crystal clear waters. read more
