While in West Glacier this was my dinner location. The seating was immediately after I entered the restaurant. The hostess was very friendly. The waitress was very fast to take my drink and dinner order. The place has a large menu and it was difficult to select a meal. I ended up choosing the chicken fried steak as I has not had it in awhile. Besides it was served with hash browns underneath and I had never had it served that way. The fry bread with honey butter is to die for! Served hot and fresh before the meal. The flavor of the gravy, crispness of the hash browns and the taste of the steak were outstanding. This place was certainly a 4.5 on my scale. The cash only might irritate some visitors and hence the lower rating. Overall great value for a tourist friendly destination. read more

Decent place, particularly for being way out in the boonies ; -) We had the Montana Meat Pizza, Sweet Potato and Waffle Fries and the Salad Bar. Fries and pizza were really good. Salad was fresh, but just okay in terms of variety. Dressings are homemade. The coffee shop connected to it also has ice cream. We liked both the ice cream and the coffee. Good prices! read more

When you have been on a long winding road for a couple of hours heading towards the east entrance of Glacier National park, and see food, you stop. You know what you are getting into when it is next to the souvenir t-shirt shop and tourist gifts. I am assuming the GNP runs this little cafe since all the employees have that logo on their shirts. As I said I knew what we were getting into here, but that should not warrant a 30 minute wait for food when only 4 tables were had people. We ordered tea and coffee to start out, but the guy who took the order did not come back for almost ten minutes and when he did he brought his order pad, not any drinks. I was a running on low blood sugar and lack of hydration but managed to still be nice about asking for the drinks if he had a chance. Another ten minutes and we were about to get up and move to where we saw a girl waiting on the other two tables. She saw us looking and brought us menus. I said we ordered we just need the drinks, if possible. She was friendly about it and she came right back with drinks saying our waiter was waiting for the coffee to brew. Okay, water would have been nice while the coffee was going, but still we are convincing ourselves, we KNEW what we were getting into. I ordered the Buffalo burger ($12.95) and my husband had the Indian fry bread taco salad ($9.95). When it finally came out 30 minutes later, my husband has no salsa dressing indicated on the menu, and no dressing at all. I was going to get up and get our waiter since he was no where on the floor, but my husband was hungry enough he ate it dry. He gave it a 1 star saying not even salsa would have saved it. He loves Indian tacos, so it must have been pretty bad. My buffalo burger did have plenty of meat, but it lacked flavor despite what they were calling jalapeno ranch. The burger itself was over pressed and tough, something I have not experienced with a buffalo burger. The fries that came with it were under cooked, like the grease was not hot enough or they pulled them too soon, they were limp and greasy. I ate a couple of them and passed them to my husband being the nice wife that I am . It was not terrible, it just is what it is right outside the park gateway. Then we were not done, oh no, not done at all, my husband gets a huckleberry ($4.00) shake and we said we would split the buffalo jump brownie ($5.99). When our waiter brought the brownie out, he sat two plain brownies in front of us. My husband asked, that has ice cream, right? The waiter said no, but I will add it to your bill if you want some. I being the eagle eye menu reader that I am, remembered seeing ice cream, whip cream and caramel sauce. I said, it is on the menu with ice cream. He said he had no clue what it says on the menu but will take it back and see what the kitchen says. Off he goes with our naked brownies and we took bets if it would have the whip cream and sauce, as well. It did, It was good and so was the shake. There was a table that had 6 people at it, that was seated when we were. The table had gotten their water right away, but by the time we were done they were just getting food, so they waited 30 minutes, as well, and all I heard is them telling the waiter how every single order was wrong. I think this is what they do.They looked highly fussy about it, so maybe they did not realize what they were getting into. I think I cracked the code to the entire problem when we went up to pay, the kitchen is 100% viewable from the register and they had cooks standing there with menus open reading and cooking and a girl juggling oven mitts while the rest of them were looking confused. There was a guy pressing a burger patty the whole time it took us to pay, that explained the tough burger. I wanted to run back there and tell him, light touch on that patty, sir, and you'll get a better burger. They all had the, 'this is my summer job til boarding season opens on the slopes' look, so I thought better of it. Generally, they don't care if you are enjoying that patty or not. I live in a ski zone year round and I have seen it a million times in our local restaurants, so not being judgy- just saying I have seen it before. Overall, not life threatening bad, would I go back, no. However, as the summer season wears on, they may start their 'A' game and turn out some great food. read more

Absolutely empty when other places weren't. Definitely a red flag, but we were so hungry we figured food would be fast here. No. Neither was service. Watched someone get up and almost leave bc they were waiting to order for so long, even when the only two other tables were already paid out. Ordered (btw, ordering a burger w no accompanying sauce was a difficult request to communicate for whatever reason). 1/2 lb burger was decent- the patty was hand formed and fresh but underseasond. Bun toasted, crisp veggies. SP fries were great. Bowl of chili- surprisingly good. Flavorful, with visible chunks of bell pepper, beef, and tomato. Added the onion & cheese for $1= worth it. Enjoyed the historic photos and paintings and large booths. Up the service and this place would be a gem. read more

Nice breakfast. They told us they'd only been opened three days. Based on what they offered us today, they'll do very well. Food was a bit slow coming, but it was very well done. Biscuits had a nice crunch on the outside and were soft and fluffy on the inside. The Alpenglow special with the sweet and spicy sauce on the side was spectacular. Menu was a bit limited, but what was prepared was great. Mostly egg and meat dishes. Waffles looked tasty. If we weren't traveling through, we'd want to stop by for lunch or dinner! Definitely make this a breakfast stop if you're driving through East Glacier. Good stuff! read more

We arrived after a long drive around the southern end of Glacier National Park, on our way up to St. Mary. We were very hungry, and tried to Yelp the local restaurants to find the best in the little town. The data speeds were very ... very slow in East Glacier, so we rolled the dice with this restaurant. I could go into great detail about the nice, but unqualified service (I had to help myself to the silverware and condiments) or the poor quality of the food (the pizza dough was uncooked). But I'll simply say that this is a restaurant that isn't ready for customers. I don't know if they recently opened (or re-opened), if the owners are first-timers or if there's been a major cycle of turnover. If it's none of those things, Glacier Village Cafe is in trouble. To summarize, we thought the food was yucky and the service aggravating, and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. No matter how hungry you are. read more

If I could give this place a zero I would. The staff is untrained, the food is horrible, and the wait is outrageous. We waited 30 minutes for a microwaved chicken sandwich and a pathetic turkey sandwich. And for that we paid $26 (no sides included). After we sat there for about 20 minutes, the waitress came by and said "It will be just a few minutes longer. We have to dig the turkey out of..." I didn't even let her finish the sentence - i didn't want to know. My husband got the turkey sandwich that was suppose to be piled high with turkey and served with a cranberry-cream cheese spread. Somehow they grilled it and managed to burn it to a crisp, and hubby reported that it had no cranbery spread, and only contained one piece of what he described as "turkey jerky". The folks next to us waited just as long for their meal, and when the waitress served their food she informed one diner that they were out of hot dogs and asked if she would like to see the menu again. The diner wisely declined. Additionally there were out of many things, including all of their game meats and soup; and the advertised salad bar was empty. read more

Just order the fry bread over here. Skip everything else on the menu. I love me a good fry bread and they make it as good as any I've had. Order a plain fry bread for an appetizer and then order a fry bread with chicken (and maybe even bacon) for entrée. It is that good. The service was very friendly and the owner/chef was happily willing to accommodate the dietary habits of a few members in our group. read more

Thought we would try this place, but I would not recommend it. For starters both restrooms in the back had no toilet paper and no paper towels, when it was brought to the waiters attention, he stated that there were other restrooms in a different part of the restaurant. We had to ask for napkins and silverware. We had a party of 9 people and all the food came at different times. 4 people out of the party ordered pizza and it took forever! One pizza came and tick tock tick tock waiting for the other pizza. People in the party had been finished for 20-30 minutes still waiting for the others to get the pizza. It is not worth the wait, it was not good pizza :( They did offer us salad and 10% off the bill, which was nice but the pizza and other food was really not that good. read more

After an hour of waiting for our food, 2 of the 6 meals were missing the ordered cheese and/or bacon, and one of the pizzas had the wrong toppings. The pizza tasted terrible. My family and I stopped through on our way back to Kalispell after spending some time in Glacier. We were highly disappointed with our choice in lunch spot. We were given one set of silverware for the six of us, 3 napkins, poor service and low quality food for an extremely high price. I had a grilled ham and cheese with french fries. My cheese wasn't melted, it was a single skinny slice of ham, and the bread was soggy and barely "toasted" let alone grilled.. Two of my family members didn't get what they ordered, and then when they inquired about them, the server looked at them like they were speaking different languages, and handled the situation very poorly. For the six of us to have lunch, it cost over 80 dollars. Extremely unimpressed and definitely won't be returning on our next trip. read more

I had the steak and eggs. I expected a thin sirloin steak. What I got was a thick steak and very tender. The Hash browns were as good as any I have had and the eggs were very good. They may have changed the name to East Glacier Restaurant but I am not sure. Anyways, we were hungry after hiking around the east side of glacier all day and stumbled upon this place. There was a sign on the door saying their credit card machine was down and it was cash only (6/22/18). We had cash so we decided to go in. The place was a ghost town, however it looked like they may be doing some renovations. There was only one to go order besides us the whole time we were in the restaurant. Needless to say though, we were served extremely quickly with a friendly waiter. The fry bread was delicious that they served us ahead of the meal. Their portions are big and the food was delicious. My wife got the country fried steak and I got the huckleberry pork chops. We would definitely go again when visiting East Glacier. read more

Delicious and filling, reasonably priced with friendly & attentive wait staff. I'm one of those people that think breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I'm also big on the hearty breakfasts such as bacon, eggs, potatoes, and corned beef hash (where served!). However, this place offered a nice variation with their Mountain Man Hash. Tasty buffalo meat (although probably not cooked the most healthiest way...), w/green peppers and onions that come in a skillet, topped with two fried eggs, potatoes and either toast or fruit. They also serve lunch, but I cannot comment on whether it's satisfying or not; however, this is a good breakfast stop before you head into Glacier National Park. :) read more

We were trying to get in the Mexican restaurant just down the street, but there was a 45 minute wait so we opted for Glacier Village Cafe, and what a pleasant surprise. they have a great selection of bottled craft beer, and their food is scrumptious. You must try the Sweet Potato Fries....the best I have ever had, and I try them everywhere. Good service and very friendly staff. read more

We were a party of eight for breakfast, four adults and four children. Our orders were diverse, from oatmeal and pancakes to eggs and hash. The food was excellent and the portions were large. It was a bit expensive, about $10 a plate. They also were a bit understaffed and therefore slow. But we all enjoyed our meals and didn't need another full meal until a late dinner. read more

My brother and I literally received food poisoning from this place after waiting over an hour to receive "elk burgers." What they really delivered to the table was charcoaled beef patties and soggy fries. I was hoping to use the restroom and wash my hands after my meal, but they had no soap in any of the restrooms and no paper towels to dry your hands. Which makes me wonder if the employees actually wash their hands. Easily the worst meal and service I have ever had. Can't review the food but based on the impression I got when I came in the door and stood by the "Please Wait To Be Seated" sign for 10 minutes without being acknowledged I'm going to say I'm NOT impressed. I stood there without so much as a hello while two servers walked past three separate times. If you don't have someone to act as a hostess, you could at least have your servers acknowledge paying customers standing in your restaurant. Yikes. This was absolutely horrible. We actually wonder how a restaurant like this stays in business in this day and age. On a positive note, the waiter was decent and polite. The food was horrific and overpriced. Portions were small, not hot, and the taste wasn't that great either. For example, the grilled ham and cheese was barely cooked, the cheese not melted, the ham portion was small, and the ham was cold. Same thing with the grilled turkey sandwich--cold turkey in the middle. They were also out of cheese to make pizza?!?! When pizza is in the name of your restaurant, this seems a bit odd. This was delicious. The other review on here is older, and I think their food and kitchen staff is different now. I had an Indian Fry Bread Taco and it was delicious, and looked nothing like the photo. Our service was very good, it took a reasonable amount of time, and the staff was very nice, even though we came in a half an hour before closing. The other members of my party had the Caesar salad (said it was very good, and croutons were delicious), the day's special (which was fabulous, it was chicken with blue cheese and bacon, and an amazing sauce with apples and delicious grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes), and a Villager burger (the best hamburger bun, great fries, and a delicious burger to boot). It was more reasonably priced than some other meals we have had on this trip. I would eat there again. read more

Thought about giving this place 2-stars because the server seemed nice, but it's not worth it. There were 3 servers and 5 tables seated when I walked in. After sitting for 20 minutes, I was about to leave when someone finally came to take my order. $17 elk burger with cheese and sweet potato fries. Drinks are only canned soda, water, or ice tea. Medium-rare burger came out well-done and luke warm. The toasted bun was burnt on one side and cold when it arrived. The fries were also cold and a bit chewy. Every other table had the same look of "I can't believe this is happening...how do I make this experience stop." One table had part of an order forgotten. Another sent back a doughy pizza to be cooked longer. My server brought the check and showed up 15 minutes later because she forgot I was still there. First, we waited to be seated. Took a while to get seated. Hey, I understand it was important for the waitress to be on her phone. And the place was busy...maybe 4 other customers. Ordered the BLT and fries...the fries were cold. Asked for a refill on coffee and the waitress looked at me like I had 2 heads. She was not familiar with the menu at all. And to top it all off, I had to go find her to get our ticket and when she arrived at our table, she made sure to answer her phone. The women's restroom does not have a lock. The Hubbs & I are lucky enough to be living in St. Mary for the summer & therefore venture down to the big city of East often. We ate dinner today at the Village for the first time and were very pleasantly surprised. Being one of the only games in town, these guys could totally phone it in, but trust me--they are the real deal. I had the bison burger which was totally delish: cooked perfect & juicy, accompanied by caramelized red onions (note to self: *always* caramelized red onions from now on), spicy pickles that tasted homemade, plus fresh veg & quality cheese. I got to pick soup, fries, or salad for a side & chose salad not expecting much from it. But the salad was artfully made--baby greens, roasted corn, wonderful house-made croutons, and the bleu cheese dressing was most definitely without a doubt made with love containing fresh herbs & generous chunks of cheese. Anyone who puts this much effort into a side salad must be talented & have pride in their work. Good for you, guys! We will be back! (And next time we're saving room for the huckleberry cobbler.) Offering some local beer on tap would bump this place to 5 stars. read more
