A lot can happen apparently in 9 months based on the previous review. The glowing review previously given was not our experience. While the outside looks inviting once inside all expectations for a fine dining experience died. Seating was fine but there isn't any table service. After being seated You are expected to leave your table and go back to the cashier to order and immediately pay for your dinner. You are then given a pager so that when your meal is ready you go to the kitchen window to pick it up! As for the meals, the selections are really meager. And the portions delivered were slightly warm and minimal food (potatoes were under cooked and the plate items were not hot for what should have been a fresh hoagie but came with dry meat. In other words not anywhere worth the price. So not what I expected but perhaps going in thinking they are trying to be a fast food place will offer a better experience. read more

Well, when one sees a sign that says farm to coast, you have a slightly different expectation. They do have some things in the menu, but as you enter, there is a set up much like a very bad Qdoba, and you can build a bowl with some very tired looking ingredients. However, if you're simply looking for a substance as I was, it does the job and you'll get calories to keep you going. We enjoyed the vegi-meat bowls that they are now serving. Staff were very pleasant. My wife had a vegetable bowl. I had the vegi meat bowl with lentils, meatballs, spinach salad with Greek topping of olives, onions and Greek dressing. Both also included a small helping of humus and pita. read more

new "chipotle style" place opened here three days ago. they advertised "farm fresh" food. only place open after 4pm after our hike. they gave us close to no food... very very limited on the proportions of food... we left hungry. the food was very good but the bread was dry and stale. later on the food made us yak everywhere, brisket was dry and hard and not cooked!!. do not recommend. read more

When we exited East Glacier we were looking for a spot for lunch. Realized we didn't have many options but we needed to eat. Stopped at the Whistle Stop and it was the absolute best decision! Staff were exceptionally friendly, the owner Ted took the time to chat with us and tell us about the history of the restaurant and general area. The food was great! My daughter had the pulled pork rice bowl, I had the panko crusted chicken bowl, Montana slaw is great (excludes the Mayo) and my husband had the Philly cheese steak which he said was fantastic. Absolutely Amazing!! From the customer service to the food it was great. The man at the front was extremely polite and helpful, there was also a new employee training and she was extremely bubbly and a pleasure to speak with, and the kitchen staff was absolutely PUMPING OUT DISHES that were all fresh and looked FABULOUS. The fast casual environment is perfect for grabbing a bite after a hike. I had the Mushroom and Swiss Burger and would HIGHLY recommend getting the spicy aioli on the side to dip the potato wedges in. Also had the Huckleberry Cheesecake and it was obviously homemade and FABULOUS an absolutely must. From now on when my family comes to glacier this place is a mandatory stop! read more

I loved my omelette - it's probably one of the tastiest restaurant omelettes I've ever had - and thanks to the reasonable prices, I didn't have to eat every bite regretting myself for overpaying. I feel like they just boiled it in water until it fell apart. As for the service . It was very confusing. They give you menus but you have to go to the counter, order and pay. They do bring you drinks but never checked on us for refills. They gave us a buzzer so we could go pick up our food and then bus our table and they expect a gratuity. My daughter and I popped into the Whistle Stop for a big breakfast before heading out to conquer the Going to the Sun Highway through Glacier National Park. It's a cute place, with friendly service and a varied breakfast menu that includes everything from your basic bacon and eggs to their (famous!) huckleberry French toast. This place is pretty tiny, so if you're a professional eavesdropper it's easy to get in on the conversations with the locals. While waiting for my daughter to arrive from the hostel next door, I eagerly chatted with the staff and with a local who was on his way to work. This is one of my favorite things about small town restaurants - getting the local vibe, hearing stories, and eating some delicious homemade food. My breakfast was perfectly prepared, and my daughter loved her French toast. It was a great meal before hitting the road into Glacier NP. Oh and the coffee was good too! read more

We stopped for dinner after spending a long day in Glacier. We were seated quickly outside. Our server came and took our order. She had some great suggestions for drinks and food. I ordered the pulled pork bbq sandwich and fries. It was so good after spending the day hiking. I loved that the bbq sauce was made to look like a little bear face on the bun. Service was good. Food was delicious. Worth the stop if you are in the area. read more

I stopped here a couple of weeks ago and discovered there are new owners and a new menu since I ate here last summer. This time the burger was outstanding! Maybe the best burger I've ever had! Beggars can't be choosers people! My family ended up eating here for an early dinner after hiking the east side of Glacier. The food wasn't exactly amazing but this place is also in a pretty secluded area of Montana so I think it's important to keep expectations realistic. Worst restaurant ever. Horrible service and you have to walk to the counter to order your food, then pick up a buzzer and wait for it to go off to go get your food. Also you had to get your own water. 50 dollars for 3 kids sized omelets. Worst 50 dollars ever spent. Not worth it at all. If I could put a 0 star rating on this I definitely would. A 5 year old could choose better ingredients for this food than the owner and chefs. They put cheese on the top of the omelette and no cheese was in the actual omelette. Any legitimate chef would know that cheese should go inside of the omelette not on the outside. Also the toast was wimpy and served with frozen butter pads. Never go here. It is possible the most pitiful "restaurant" ever. The ambiance of the restaurant was the only good thing about this place. It was also pretty clean but the actual food sucked. read more

As we came back from all day hiking, hot, tired and hungry. Unfortunately, Not many selections of restaurants when leaving Glacier National Park. The whistle stop restaurant looked appealing from the outside and we were drawn to taste the huckleberry pies. The interior is very basic and definitely not a show stopper. Food was very basic just like the decor. We ordered huckleberry pie a la mode. I am not sure if they baked the pie or Bought it at a supermarket. For my Taste, it had delicious huckleberry and was combined with thick red dye gelatin which made it unappealing. I literally had To pick off the gelatin and only ate the berries and ice cream. This took Lots of Patience. I was so tired I forgot to Photograph the interior which looked like 70's decor. It had character for sure. Cleanliness, that's questionable. It looked clean thou that can be deceiving when a place looks old. Service was ok. Just a friendly hello when our waitress took our orders and brought our pies. Nothing extraordinary. Would I return here, possibly not. I suggest packing food or research what other nearby restaurants. read more

First, I would like to say the food is really good. Second, this is a small place working in a tourist town with Covid issues all around. That means being short staffed in a very busy area. It is extremely hard to find help either because they don't want to work or too scared to work. With that being said, you people that are so rude and demanding, just need to go somewhere else. If you can't wait and be patient then take your business elsewhere! I witnessed two people giving the owner, who was working as fast as she could, grief because their wait was longer than they were told. I would tell you to leave if it were me. They obviously don't need your business with how busy they are. It's getting so ridiculous in the service industry. People, check yourselves! I would definitely eat here again! read more

Well, another stop during our trip :) and this time for lunch. The forest fires were raging and the only way to reach the lakes on the eastern part was through the eastern periphery. So, we stopped in between for lunch .. since the options were very limited we decided to be here as we kinda liked the place, a small diner with a patio sitting as well. Service was quick but our server was either high or confused .. and for sure oblivious to vegetarian concepts, I think. Spilled half a jug of water on our table, got me a burger instead of bbq chicken .. told us the soup was vegetarian where I could see some chorizo in there .. basically bad enough to rate them very low .. but then it is a mixture of food and service and I would try and ignore his bad day .. :) The vegetarians among us went all excited seeing the grilled portabella mushroom burger only to find the mushrooms weren't there, thus the choice was reduced to rather obvious - Garden Burger .. but then on a positive note .. the burger was rather good .. best from the others to be honest :) The other burgers were a grilled chicken on swiss mushrooms .. The chips were just salted lays and not the chips aka fries we expected which was a bummer :( My quarter baked chicken with bbq sauce + veggie of the day = corn + baked potato was nice though .. I was glad, to be honest, not to have ordered a burger instead. The minestrone soup came with salted crackers and I enjoyed it .. the only problem was that we were told it was a vegetarian soup before I noticed a chorizo in there .. well for me it is okay .. for others it isn't .. All in all, food wise the place was good if not great .. and ignoring the bad service for this time, we all have our shares of bad days and all .. :) read more

The food is what prompted the 4th star. Service is kind of slow - but the restaurant was at full capacity. After 20 minutes I was thinking, "is this really worth it?" But guess what? It was absolutely worth the wait. Hadn't read the reviews prior to going so wasn't prepared for a huge stuffed french toast which was more equivalent to a giant beignet stuffed with huckleberry cream. Pretty darn good. The spinach omelet was actually the best I have ever had - can't even describe why. And the homefries are really homemade tasting good. Prices are fairly reasonable for the quanity of food. Sticks to your gut so was able to skip lunch too! read more

Whistle Stop looks like your standard mountain diner. Smallish interior with a nice outdoor patio area. We swung by on a Friday morning before leaving town and we left completely satisfied. Whistle Stop doesn't do much for breakfast - just omelettes and stuffed French toast. But they don't need to, because the two things they do have are INCREDIBLE. The Spanish omelette with chorizo and spinach was perfect cooked, one of the best we've ever had. And the French toast. Dear God the French toast. They take French toast, stuff it with cream cheese, and then batter and deep fry it. We got the huckleberry variety and it was the most deliciously fattening thing I've ever had for breakfast. I'm going to be full for days. Whistle Stop doesn't try to do too much for breakfast, and I really respect that. Highly recommended for a filling breakfast. read more

Interior is tightly-packed and super-basic. I got the 1/4 chicken meal. The romaine salad was hearty and the veggies were all very fresh - it was the best part of the meal. The chicken was done nicely with a very sweet BBQ sauce. Potato salad side was awesome - generous chunks of egg and lots of paprika. The veggie side was a complete letdown. It featured onions, celery, and zucchini. I can't have onions, so I tried a few celery and zucchini pieces - the flavor was not to my liking, but maybe others would love it. Price was $14.95 - which I thought was exactly to be expected for the location. I didn't have room for dessert, but I get the sense this is a good dessert place - maybe next time? Service was meh. Located at the route 2, 49 intersection in east glacier park Montana. The whistle stop proved to be a convenient and delicious choice for brunch. My son ordered the grizzly paw, with chocolate and whip cream, for $5.99 this could almost feed two kids, it was a nice size portion. It smelled more like a doughnut than French toast, but it was great. My wife ordered the huckleberry French toast which looks similar to the grizzly paw except hers was stuffed with huckleberry cream filling absolutely amazing. I ordered the steak and egg ribeye for $11.99. This was a much better quality of steak than your normal steak and egg dish, you cannot go wrong ordering beef in Montana. The service was fine, she seemed to know a lot of the people so it took some attention from other customers, but the service was ok. Inside is very tiny, you are eating really close to your fellow diners. Taken together this restaurant is a great value for the quality of food your getting, definitely worth a visit. read more

We stopped by the Whistle Stop on our way back from Waterton as a party of 3. It was about 8:45PM and choices are limited in this area, plus we had our dog with us. We saw they had a patio and pulled over. There were two dogs hanging outside that the staff kept on feeding, setting them up to be beggars and food thieves; at least they were sweet. We were sat outside and brought water and menus. We ordered two bison burgers and a BBQ pork sandwich. We were sitting for 30 minutes before we decided to tell them to make it to go, it was another 10 minutes before the food came. Our waiter was running around, but a few other members of the staff were sitting around or out feeding the stray dogs. Everything was wrong and over cooked. They didn't give us the fries with one order, they left out the burger fixings on the one who ordered them. No salt/pepper/ketchup or utensils/napkins. After two bites of my over cooked burger and one fry I decided I couldn't choke down the food at all. Walked back in and returned it, at least they were good about giving the money back with no problem. read more

Love the Huckleberry Pie here as well as those at Park Cafe. The pies at the two restaurant have completely different style, each to its own. The pie at Park Cafe has a thin delicate crust with baked huckleberries while the one here has fresh cold huckleberries and a nice crumbly crust. The Huckleberry French Toast was very interesting. A deep fried cinnamon roll-like dough with (what seems to be) huckleberry cream cheese filling, topped with a dollop of whipped cream, marinated fresh huckleberries and a sprinkle of powdered sugar. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed breakfast here before the hike to Iceberg Lake. The omelette with cheese and sour cream was delicious, as well as the side of potatoes.
