Gladys is the best! She's always giving me consistent quality of haircuts and she gives me the cut I want! The atmosphere is always good vibes here and they have parking right in front. Sometimes it gets packed but there's plenty of parking available nearby which is gold in LA!

This barber shop is great. Everyone there is very chill, and they always make time for walk-ins and regulars. Tommy never disappoints. He's the only person in California I get haircuts from. Ask for him when you go!

Every time I step into Alpha Barber Shop, I know I'm in good hands, especially with MYKE. He's hands down one of the best barbers I've ever had. I had a very upsetting experience with Tommy. A few days earlier, I had a haircut appointment at 5:45 PM. I was running a few minutes late, and I messaged the stylist to apologize. He said "sure," but also reminded me that he had clients after me -- which I understood and respected. When I arrived, he told me he didn't have enough time to finish the haircut properly and kindly offered to reschedule for Sunday, saying he would dedicate two full hours for me and give me a proper cut. I appreciated that. On Sunday, my husband and I arrived 10 minutes early for our agreed 1 PM appointment. We waited patiently for his previous client to leave. Then, shockingly, he told us he wouldn't cut my hair because he had marked 12 PM in his calendar and claimed we were an hour late -- even accusing us of making him lose $100. This was completely unexpected and humiliating. We were both sure we had agreed on 1 PM -- we even shook hands on it. But instead of acknowledging the possible miscommunication on his end, he dismissed us and said, "I won't argue with you." He also said, "I'm a smart man. I don't make mistakes," which felt extremely condescending and unprofessional. I left feeling blamed, disrespected, and very disappointed. The whole experience shook my confidence and made me feel really unwelcome. read more

The place is brand new, but the barbers/stylists are not. They are some of the most dedicated and hard working stylists/barbers I've have met with years of experience! It's not a spacious shop inside, but quality over quantity matters here. Did I mention an arcade cabinet next to the waiting area? Maybe catch a quick game before/after your cut? Personally, I can recommend any of the barbers/stylists, but my go-to for the past 9+ years has always been Jesse. He's been awesome with my haircuts. He's especially very proficient with fades (high, low, mid, drop, etc). Take a chance on him and the rest of the staff there. You will not be disappointed. read more

Very nice barber shop close to the USC/Leimert Park area. Although limited parking space in the plaza but there are always street parking spots nearby so I haven't had an issue with parking. Gladys is the best with communicating with her clients ahead of time, booking with her has been a breeze for me! read more

Of course, I turned to Yelp for the scoop and zeroed in on Ms. Glen's Therapeutic Manicures & Pedicures. I finally got a chance to go see Ms. Glen and it was everything I wanted and more. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. I had discussed my upcoming nuptials with her and she wanted to make sure my hands moisturized properly for my big day, even providing a demonstration on proper application. Ms. Glen is a gem!

Unexpected Charges and Lack of Transparency…read more I booked my appointment in person on Tuesday 7/15 because I wasn't sure what to select online for Gel-X removal. I trusted the front desk staff to guide me, and was quoted $80 for Gel-X, builder gel removal, and French tip. At my appointment on Friday 7/18, I was unexpectedly charged $110! I was told the card on file couldn't be used for the service--only for late fees or no-shows--which made no sense. If the salon can charge the card for penalties, why not for the actual service being provided? This was especially frustrating because the appointment was a gift for a huge accomplishment of mine, from my mother, so of course I didn't have the physical card with me. On top of that I was also charged extra for nail length without warning, and billed twice for polish: $20 for gel color and $15 for French tip, even though I only received 1 design; french tip. When I asked for clarification, staff just pointed to the online pricing--but I booked in person to avoid that confusion. The experience felt misleading. I intentionally came in person to avoid confusion and relied on the staff to guide me accurately. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. If you're considering booking here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for more transparent and customer-friendly service.
