This was a bruising and painful experience, quite literally. In addition, it was overpriced. The barber cut my face right above my mustache (very visible) and scratched the back of my neck with some God-awful blade. The buzzer wasn't very sharp and it pulled my hair several times. I came in for a cut last night and the whole experience was pretty terrible. My barber seemed in a rush and could not be bothered to make very basic small talk. While trimming my neckline he applied the clippers directly to the back of my neck. It was startling, painful, and unlike any haircut I've ever received before. Disappointing experience tonight. Had one cut from them in the past. Was excellent. Hoped this could be my main spot. Made appointment for 8pm on a Thursday with Mike Garcia(?). Showed up. AC is off. Muggy. Mike has someone in his chair, and tells me has another client afterwards. He didnt greet me. I had to approach him to find out. I would have to wait 40 minutes for him or wait for the other barber who also had one in the chair and one waiting (not sure if this person waiting had appt or not). No one attempted to make it right, so I left. Huge lack of respect for others' time. Terrible way to do business. Lost my business for good. Glad I didnt pay for parking, which is difficult to find in dtla. UPDATE 8/9/21: Business owner reached out to me and apologized. I appreciated it. She is offering to make things right by me, so I will have an update on this in a month or so when I go in for a haircut. UPDATE 9/24/21: Business owner set me up with a haircut with Vitaly. The main reason I have been coming back to Bolt Barbers for about 3 years now is: Miguel. Miguel is an excellent and capable barber, a hidden gem at this place. He strives beyond what is asked from him and works with you to establish a relationship to find a look you desire. He asks a lot of questions on your needs and provides suggestions on what may look more appealing with the thickness of your hair, shape of your head, and overall look you are trying to achieve. He is also very friendly and responsive when booking appointments via call or text. I have been regularly coming back once a month for about 3 years now just from the outstanding service that Miguel provides for a fair price.
