I have a fairly simple understanding of hairstyles and proper hair maintenance. The barber Javin asked me questions about my usual hairstyle and went through suggestions regarding trimming technique. Ultimately, I went with low fade with and a touch up on the top. He mentioned my two hair whorls and overall head shape provided some considerations on what he thought would look natural, which I appreciated. In the end, the fade was perfect. Afterwards I went in for quick shampoo and conditioner which targeted my dandruff. While the location is somewhat out of the way for me, I can definitely rely on their dedication and handiwork.

The first barber I asked for it butchered it, mostly because he'd never done a long cut in his life. Gianni took one look, diagnosed what was actually going on up there, and got me to a halfway cut. A couple months later, the cut grew in as he planned and he took me from 80 to 100%, right in time for my vow renewal. His profile calls him the brushback king and I couldn't agree more. Fair warning: he's meticulous, so plan on real time in the chair. You get what you pay for! Also book ahead. At least a month, in my experience. Gianni's popular and I've never once seen anyone get off the waitlist. The shop itself is worth the trip on its own. Great furniture, plants everywhere, and a back patio you can sit on if you're early or just want to hang. Vibes and the place is always clean. Their systems are top notch too. Plenty of notice before your appointment, everything organized, they offer you a drink when you sit down, and they use good products from the wash through the styling. The host is always so nice, everyone there is personable, and the music's great. One heads up: no parking lot. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. My goal is to make this a regular treatment. If my feet are healthy, I am healthier! Thanks Ms. Glen for such a wonderful experience! I'll be back. If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. I was told the card on file couldn't be used for the service--only for late fees or no-shows--which made no sense. If the salon can charge the card for penalties, why not for the actual service being provided? This was especially frustrating because the appointment was a gift for a huge accomplishment of mine, from my mother, so of course I didn't have the physical card with me. On top of that I was also charged extra for nail length without warning, and billed twice for polish: $20 for gel color and $15 for French tip, even though I only received 1 design; french tip. When I asked for clarification, staff just pointed to the online pricing--but I booked in person to avoid that confusion. The experience felt misleading. I intentionally came in person to avoid confusion and relied on the staff to guide me accurately. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. If you're considering booking here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for more transparent and customer-friendly service.

So I'm usually kind of hesitant towards places that only have 5 star reviews you kind of assume they offer you something in order for you to write a review... This place however.... Not the case all the 5 star comments are spot on. I cannot brag about this place more than enough I wish I grew hair an inch an hour just for me to come to this place on a daily. The atmosphere feels as if you're walking back in time but yet very modern as soon as you walk in you are greeted courteously asked if you would love a beverage - take my word for it say yes! Please. - my barber's name was paco. This guys whole energy just amazes me. His an amazing guy very knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. Half the reason I love this place is this guy. I have been coming to Manly & Sons for 2 years now. I stumbled in one day to get a beard trim, Paco helped me out and it was perfect. This is my go to place for haircuts or beard clean ups. This atmosphere is like the ultimate man cave with leather couches, drinks on hand, old school barber shop chairs and any supplies you may need. The entire staff is super friendly and all have a great knowledge of what they are doing. I was back there today for another haircut and yet again, Paco hit it out of the park. Ive been going to Eddie for my haircuts for about the last year. He is the only consistent barber that I've ever had! He is very punctual and always ready when it's time for my appointment! He knows the right questions to ask to make sure I'm getting exactly what I want and I've never left disappointed. The vibe is always good in the barber shop as well. I've been growing a beard for the past five months now and hasn't really thought about upkeep until it started to become unruly. I looked up a bunch of places and this one had the best reviews. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. They offered me a drink while I waited too! I have been going to this barber shop for about 3 years and some change. I left to go serve with the military and I came back happy as I can be to find out that this barber shop was still here. Coe got me good, hit me with a nice clean gentlemans haircut, and this dude got the slickest fading technique like he been doing this for 9 years. Well, it is 9 years. If you ask me, hit up Coe. I'd let my hair grow fairly long over the last few months, but Gilbert at Manly & Sons was up to the challenge! He did a terrific job scaling it back to a manageable length while retaining the up top volume and bit of wave that I wanted to keep, all while maintaining a very chill and friendly demeanor. Saw someone post about this place online and decided to give it a try today. It is easily the first time I have been legit happy with a haircut. Jax cut my hair and she was super chill and took her time giving me a great cut. The rest of the staff seemed really chill as well and the atmosphere was great. Definitely worth the price and I will definitely be returning here. Glad to know LA has such an awesome barber shop! read more

This place is awesome. The price really indicates the quality of service that you get. All the staff are pros. Especially Adam. He changed the way I normally get my hair cut and I've gotten nothing but compliments afterward. He was really meticulous in both haircut and beard trim. He even gave me advice on new products to try that have been a major upgrade. Thanks Adam and Manly and Sons. See you next month. read more

The best. Always great quality haircuts and the staff is super cool and friendly. Nice, laidback atmosphere. Shoutouts to Matty and Zaven. Matty is a badass and funny as hell, always delivers great cuts. Zaven is a stylish pro and a gentleman, as skilled as he is worldly and wise. Go see these guys (or any of the fantastic barbers.) Well, I've been going to this place for more than a year. Everyone is accommodating and gives excellent service. Shout out to Mattyboy! He's my go to when it comes to my beard and mustache trim. He's not in a rush and very much into detail when it comes to my beard and mustache. He's a totally cool guy and very approachable. Always gives me that great look. Never before have I felt so at home in an establishment. These guys mean business. Every time I leave Manly and Sons I'm able to do so with confidence knowing that I look the best I can. Coe is a master barber. The chair is his easel and the shears are his brush and just as Picasso before him, he paints a masterpiece every time I visit. The owner, Tony is on to something. I've been going to the salon since we moved to Echo Park, and I guess I got extremely lucky to find this place. from the vibe to the people the quality of the cuts !!!!! Oh and the low prices ( and just so we clear I'm not talking about your $30 shitty cut) Quality is often overpriced, THEIR quality is worth your money. I can assure you that I look quite fucking good every single time haha not only on the outside side. But the vibe makes you feel good on the inside. Every single barber is unique, attentive and you couldn't get more chill. If you like art good music, beer, looking good... then go there. They deserve the love. I'm proudly spreading it.

I regret coming here, and I will not be coming back. On top of that, after this haircut, I will have to get it fixed at another salon. I am intentionally not naming the stylist, because the person who hires staff should make sure their employees are actually professional. I will leave this review on every website where I find this salon.
