Alpha Nails has become my standard for nail salons - there, I said it! After re-reading everything that I said in 2017, I can firmly say that my old review still stands true (and I encourage you to read it). I wish I can take this place and transplant it to my hometown up north. And yes, I am THAT PERSON who will shift her schedule to come down here just to get my nails done - call me crazy, but I gotta do what I gotta do! So, first things first - Alpha Nails is not a fancy salon, but it does its job. It's a salon for the working woman (and well-groomed working man / person). I am sure there are bougier salons in the area if you want a place that's more *aesthetic.* This is a salon that takes a large volume of customers and offers a wide array of services. In fact, that's probably the best part about this place - you rarely wait for your appointment (unless it's peak time in summer and the place is slammed) and you are out quickly for most services - not to mention, the prices are extremely fair. They will take walk-ins but in the summer, this place gets super packed. I've been to a few techs here, but I always return to Anna. She's THE BEST nail artist I've ever been to. Whether the design is simple or complex, Anna continually delivers (seem some of my photos for proof). I do not know how she works her magic with that little paintbrush of hers - it's actually insane. In addition, I can push my nails to six weeks after she's done (which I don't recommend, but sometimes I am desperate) and they will NOT BUDGE. They have NEVER fallen off! She has also occasionally called me personally if there is a time issue - because she knows I am traveling from up north - which I think is such a thoughtful gesture. (PS - I usually do a gel mani with her!) In addition, now that I've gotten to know Alpha Nails, they are so incredibly warm and welcoming to their returning customers. They were hospitable when they didn't know me personally, but now that I've been coming here since 2017 (yikes! time flies), there is a different level of congeniality. They treat their returning customers well - and that's a sign of a good business! Several customers here are summerbirds (like me) and they always return to Alpha Nails. I've also gotten my eyebrows waxed here and pedicures. I will admit they've cut back on their standard pedicure over the last few years (who hasn't cut back), but their spa pedicures are totally worth it if you want to splurge. In a way, Alpha Nails has ruined my experience for other nail salons because I will forever compare all other salons to this one. It's the basics for the same amount as everywhere else. Sometimes more. No how are you doing today? No wash your hands before or at the end before the polish. No cleaning up any polish that got on the inside of the nails or anything. Strong glue lasted a long time, but when I went to have them removed after eight weeks not even two minutes of soaking and ripped up most of my nail with the tip, which I probably could've done myself. And I'm a polite person so of course I still end up tipping. There are other places looking for some more good customers who will take their time and do a job not only you can be happy with but the salon can be proud of. The price has change from when you call into when you go in although they did honor it when I called them out on it. but make sure you know what you're paying and what you're getting before you sit down and if you don't care about the experience and would even like it to be faster than it used to be, or is elsewhere if you don't mind, skipping a hand, massage or lotion or washing before putting the polish on, this may be the place for you. But if you're looking for any kind of relaxation for your 60+ bucks, without any special colors or design... you might look further. read more

Came in to get my nails soaked off and get a full set with gel. They got me into a chair super quickly and the gentleman that did was nails was very kind but didn't soak off my nails just filed them down and it did hurt (my nails were already thin so not necessarily his fault) after he polished them I felt like they were too thick and the polish flooded the cuticles on a couple of fingers. I did point it out and he moved me to another nail tech who I found out was the owner, she was so kind and absolutely killed it on my nails. She recommend another polish line in a similar color and she fixed them and made sure to make me feel comfortable and checked in with me to make sure it didn't hurt. She took the time to also add product back on to my nails because the sides were too thin. Thank you so much to the owner for going above and beyond!! They turned out beautiful! read more

I'm being kind giving them three stars, because I normally went there just for my eyebrows, and they did a good job. This time, I was supposed to get a pedicure with two acrylic nails for my big toes, and a full set of gel nails, but short and square. Long story short, it was very difficult for them to understand what I want done. Even though they asked the questions and I answered them, I went home with a regular gel manicure on my hands.-- no NAILS-- and even though I requested gel nail polish on my toes, they stuck with the regular nail polish, even after applying acrylic on the two big toes, and it looks like an eight-year-old painted them. I am extremely disappointed, with this nail salon first of all, customer service is absolutely horrible. I came early for my appointment because you never know might be if it might be packed. I went up to the front desk to sign in for my appointment she said that there were too much walk ins. When i got there not a person in sight. I asked her aren't you to take care of appointments rather than walks ins. She said no no. Fast forward 50 minutes while they went in the back to eat. I am finally seated for my manicure. The lady who was doing my nails then proceeded to say that my nails were "too long" First of all my nails aren't even as long as my own finger finger. I said no it is not then she proceeds on doing style i asked for. When she was done my nails were crooked. She wouldn't even let me see my OWN nails while she was doing it. Gel mani and gel pedi for $75 I was on vacation with my family. Decided to get my nails done with my mom. Have never gotten my nails and toes done at the shore so I was skeptical, but this salon was so great. A little crowded but they fit us right in. Even without appointments. And the pedicures were a last minute decision, so they really were accommodating! Am definitely going to remember this place for when we come back next year! read more

Very nice family run business. They were accommodating to squeezing me in same day for a pedicure. Packed salon and everyone was taken care of. I particularly love how the moms working were able to have their little ones nearby. The kids were cute and sweet trying to help. Almost every nail is crooked. The lady wasn't paying attention at all, was watching a show the whole time while doing my nails. I look back and saw another girl watching a show on her phone too. When I left I realized how crooked they were. I called and they told me "well you should have looked at them before you left". I went back and the owner was very rude and told me that's how my nails are, which they have never been like that and that they were suppose to charge me more but they didn't ..... not my fault and still doesn't mean anything about my crooked nails.. very rude and unprofessional. read more

I've been going there on and off for a few years and all I ever get are mani/pedis (with regular nail polish). I always let the tech know that I am well aware that regular nail polish will not last as long as gel because I refuse to use gel. The service has become inconsistent and it seems there are several techs that may to not be qualified to even apply nail polish. When I went this past Friday, I asked for my usual mani/pedi. However, I needed to have an acrylic toenail applied. First thing I noticed is when my I was supposed to soak my feet there was nothing in the tub, but plain water (the woman next to me had bubbles). Then the nail tech who seemed extremely miserable, cut my big toenail extremely short and did nothing to shape it. Just left it wide and didn't shape the sides. After that, another person came to apply the acrylic nail to my other big toe. She applied it so thick that it looked ridiculous. It literally was at least 3 inches thick (it was my first acrylic anything so I didn't know what to think). When I went to the table for my manicure, the miserable nail tech watched a show or something on her phone through the whole process. She soaked my nails for a second or two and did apply cuticle cream. She instead cut them dry, not moisturized at all. Still seeming annoyed she painted my nails with nail polish that was clearly old, sticky, and thick. Usually when the nail polish is like this, they thin it down with some acetone (not her she couldn't be bothered...her show was too important). After she put on the topcoat it seemed like it was ok. When I went to the drying table the polish started to bubble and get wavy in some parts. I showed the owner and she sent me to another woman to fix it. It was the same old nail polish! I showed the owner again and she told me it was because I didn't use gel! Not only that my cuticles were flooded with the nail polish and my thumbnail was cut and filed uneven from the other hand. I gave a $20 tip because you pay before you get your finger nails painted...so disappointing! I can't find how to reply to the owner! Sir...with all due respect you were not there. Why in the world would I touch my nails??? If that were the case...I would have a fingerprint not bubbles and rippling waves. This is not the first time I've had my nails polished and I know better. The bottle of nail polish was the same one used by the other nail tech (the girl who watches her phone instead of tending to her job). I saw her hand it to the woman because she asked for the color that was used. It's fine I just won't return. Especially, when you're responding as if I'm the problem. read more

The only saving grace was that my manicure + design was only $15. Not only did I have to wait 35 minutes (which is fine - it was busy) but when I did finally get in the chair, the man was more concerned with texting rather than finishing my manicure. I THEN made the horrible decision to ask for a design. It is supposed to be eyelashes. If he wasn't able to do the design, then he should have said no. AND THEN I made the awful mistake of smudging my nails. The fix was worse than the manicure itself. Aside from that, the fans to dry don't work. After my aunt and mother said that it didn't work, the woman came over and stepped on my aunt's foot and smudged her nail and then was annoyed that it had to be fixed. Nice place, but the people who work there are NOT worth paying for someone to paint my nails. I would have done it myself and it would have looked better. Before writing this review I called and spoke to owner Tom and he was not sympathetic at all and couldn't justify it. Doesn't surprise me by the answers I see them respond to negative reviews. Stop shopping for a nail salon and call Alpha Nails! I'm moving back to my home town and I just couldn't find a salon that met my needs. I prefer acrylic nails with gel polish, and a "rough" pedicure where the nail is cut so an ingrown toenail does not occur. After visiting 3 other salons, I decided to call Alpha. I spoke with Amy on the phone and her cheery attitude made me jump in the car and head over. Even though the salon accommodates walk ins, I would suggest making an appointment since they are extremely busy. What impressed me was the fact that when I arrived, I was greeted by my name and was given a warm welcome. Amy introduced me to Tracey who was fantastic. She communicated with me about what I wanted, and shaped my nails perfectly. I then met Katarina who was going to be doing my pedicure. For such a small young lady...she really packs a wallop! Kat dug right in and cleaned under the nail and cut the corners which usually dig into the skin if not addressed. Folks...these hard working individuals were amazing. I have read the reviews that some have left and I find them to be untrue. I met some very nice people today, customers and staff. When I left and said goodbye, it was nice to hear so many people say "Goodbye Beth!" I found my people and that makes me very happy!! read more

I came here looking for drawn nail designs and I wasn't disappointed! The shape and design came out amazing and I'm so happy with the experience here. I was in and out in under and hour, and was seated immediately with an appointment. The salon was really nice as well, super nice pedicure stations that I need to come back and try soon. I've tried 3 other nail salons in the area and I wasn't pleased with the shape, they were bulky so they didn't grow out comfortably and they were already lifting within a week. My advice: go for the gel instead of acrylic and give this place a try instead. All their tools are sterilized and I saw those practices taking place. The staff was very nice and accommodating, and the price was extremely reasonable. (Nail extensions don't cost $20 when they're gel and done well, so please don't expect that anymore...) I'm currently on vacation and was looking for a nail salon in the area for an acrylic fill. Alpha nails was the one I decided to come to because it has good reviews and fair pricing. Making an appointment was easy and they were able to fit me in the day of (yesterday). My appointment was at 4 pm and I showed up a little before then and was told to pick my color. I had to wait 20 minutes until someone was able to take me. They did not have my top two picks for color so I had to pick a third color which caused my appointment to not start until 4:30. The nail tech started prepping me and taking off the old gel polish and when he finished that he told me that my nails were coming off on the edges so I either had to get a whole new set or deal with them coming off. At my other salon they would cut off part of the nail and put acrylic where the old nail was cut off to avoid having to get a new set. I understand every salon is different but I felt like he was just looking to make more money. I was annoyed but agreed to the new set. He took each nail off by putting a new tip under and prying it off which caused extreme pain. Then while he was filing the new set he cut me and didn't even apologize and continued being extremely rough with my nails. While he was filing I noticed one of the nails looked more square (I asked for almond) so I asked him to make it more round. Once he was completely done I noticed many of the nails were different shapes, which I fixed when I got home. I got a text asking for a review and I left one basically saying everything I previously stated. Then today one of the staff texted me and I will attach the text. Although she was being professional and helpful, I told her what I think every salon should do. Make sure you have a good staff that provides what the client wants instead of wasting the clients time and money and telling them to come back and fix it!!!! read more

No complaints about my pedi, however, when I went to pay it was $5. More then it was supposed to be. I questioned it and was told it was because I chose a polish with a silver cap.....supposed to last longer. it was not stated on the polish rack nor did the lady who did my nails inform me about it. I've been to salons where there was a $1. Extra fee for certain polishes but it was clearly told to me when I picked it. One of the worst nail experiences. It was extremely hot and uncomfortable the entire 1.5 hours. They did not interact with the customers. My pedicure was alright. Nail polish was left on my toe not my nail. The manicure was horrendous. They did not adjust my leggings after the pedicure. I left the place realizing my pants were still at my knees so after readjusting them, three nails were left smudged/chipped. It had only been 15 minutes after. When I called to complain, they laughed and stated that it was my fault - "Maybe it happened in the car" or "maybe I transferred the polish to my own toe while putting on my shoe." I had flip flops on. I do not recommend this place. Their service was unreal. read more

I called 5 minutes before arriving to check out the prices. It was $45 with a pedicure and gel manicure. This place has a TON of gel colors to choose from! The woman on the phone was sweet and polite. When I got my pedicure the woman opened a new set of everything. The pedicure was typical; she did not hurt me and was gentle. She massaged my legs (which was too gentle) and applied a hot towel. She also used an unopened scrubber on my feet. The manicure was good. If you look at my list of reviews you will see I am someone who posts to build good businesses up not be petty. This 1 star review is well earned! My sister asked if I would join her to get a new set of nails after suffering from some pretty significant health issues & wanting a sister day. Though I only go to Touch Nails I agreed to sit with her here because my place is closed Mondays. I found it odd she told me she had called prior to to verify "how much" her nails would be since she's gone in the past. I find out she did this because every visit she is charged different prices for the exact same service. Then points it out & the price is "sometimes" corrected. RED FLAG #1 Her question on the phone was for the cost of gel vs. acrylic.the man said $38. She clarified she wanted the price quote for both & he told her they are both $38. We go & she asks the $ again because it didn't sound right the is told the correct price difference. she said that it was fine just do "acrylic, Long and coffin shaped" he begins putting on the tips and red flag #2 starts as he's doing it to make sure she knows this coffin shape is an extra $5. She tells him she had been many times in the past & they never charged extra $. He looked at her like she was stupid! She again says ok because the poor girl just wants to get her nails done. Red flag #3 She asks if he can make sure there is extra glue because her last set had 3 nails fall off within a day of leaving & had to go in to have them fixed. He again looks at her like she's stupid. I'm her older sister & now fuming but don't want to ruin her day. I didn't find out until later she also had 2 experiences where her nails lifted within days & their answer was squirting nail glue in which if there is moisture any person w/ a brain knows can cause infection or fungus! red flag #4 all tips are on, she has made it very clear that she wanted LONG COFFIN SHAPED NAILS! We already got the NEW $5 charge for the coffin shape now he cuts her first nail so short She can make a fist. That is far from long! She said I'm sorry that is way too short. He said NO THATS LONG! Again there's an attitude. I've had enough I chime in before she gets further railroaded because she's young & say thats not long & She would never get her nails that short! He bites back with "if I do any longer that will be another $5 for long nails" she AGAIN tells him she has gotten long coffin shapes & is never charged! he now involves the lady at the counter who also acts like this is their normal prices even though its not what she was ever charged! My sister is now more upset and I've had it,she looks at me & says what am I supposed to do the nails are glued on?
