There are swings, play area for the kids, a really pretty Creek, benches, a nice fountain and picnic area for families. Great for walking your pets too. Spring is my favorite time to visit:)

They usually hold a crochet get together once a month and found this small park. While I was exploring the place, I got to meet Trish who was there attending to the garden at the time. She had told us about the history of when the family was living on the property dated back in 1880s. Their daughter, Peggy Miles had wanted the property to be well maintained after her passing. She was a histologist but, was never married nor had any children while living alone. Thus, the Friends of Lost Corner was formed and raised about $900k in 2018. The property was then sold to the city after her passing and have been well maintained ever since to preserve the nature in the area. I particularly enjoyed walking on the small trail in the backyard that loops around for about 1 mile in total. Due to the overgrown trees in the area, the trails were well shaded. There's a couple of small bridges when you explore the trails branching off the little loop. I was told that the different flowers will bloom at different times around this time of year. I'm looking forward to visit during the blooming of Trillium flowers. They come in a variety of colors and looking forward to the delight of their bloom. This place is well preserved and very private. Almost like a hidden gem in the heart of Sandy Springs. I was there on a Saturday evening at around 4:30pm. It wasn't crowded as I hoped. Even though there was a baby shower event held at the house. There's a male and female bathrooms located on the right side of the house so, the public doesn't interfere with any events being held inside. I'd recommend exploring this mini park if you're in the area. Name of place is called Lost Corner Preserve.

Rather, it is a wooded area with multiple mapped out trails, and some that are not mapped. You can spend a couple of hours here or all day and hike up to the Cherokee County line if you wanted to. There are multiple abandoned structures which were cool. The kids enjoyed playing in and around them and are there plenty of "off the beaten path" places to explore. People also bring their horses and bikes here, as it can get pretty muddy after a rain. I have also seen people doing photoshoots in this picturesque park.

Great for a stroll, or actual exercise, if that's your thing. There's a wide open field with a cute barn, great for photos, that's about a 5 min walk from the parking place. There's also a little creek that runs down the middle of mountains, one steep, the other more gradual. This park has so many different types of trees, flowers, and mushrooms, and insects, with little plaques that let you know about the local greenery and wildlife. Also. YOU CAN BRING HORSES TO TRAIL RIDE! Horses!! We love going bc the kids almost always get to say hello to a horse or 4. Overall, just a really fun outdoor activity. So obviously touch all things at your own risk. General rule, take nothing but memories, leave nothing but foot prints... but we have picked some things for inspiring the kids in science. There's apps that identify plants, mushrooms, and rocks. I recommend having them. Pros -it's free. 100% free. -any skill level hiking -beautiful and calming -not too busy. -great open field with barn for pictures... or frisbee, running and singing songs about nature. Do you. -perfect picnic place -can hunt for mushrooms -can trail ride on horseback (byoh bring your own horse) Cons -a little hard to find the first time That's it. This places is a winner.

It made for a nice afternoon of snowman building and snow ball fights. Despite the crispy fresh air and the warm sunny day, our family was the only one out there. Overall, this is a good park to go for a nice walk or family bike ride.

Tuxford is a nice subdivision in the Atlanta suburb of Alpharetta. There are 376 large homes, many…read moreof which I believe were built in the 90s, so this subdivision isn't new, but it isn't ancient either. The homes are placed fairly close together and offshoot from the subdivision's main road, Tuxford Drive. There are numerous cul-de-sacs and the development feels somewhat cookie-cutter, but I've seen much worse (where all the houses look the same; not here). The homes here are nice and currently sell for roughly around half a million dollars. The main entrance to the neighborhood is on Kimball Bridge Road. However, the neighborhood can also be accessed via smaller residential roads, Windham Way and Grenadier Lane, which are attached to the neighboring subdivision. On those smaller roads, small brick posts let you know you've entered Tuxford. Tuxford has a pool and six tennis courts. Most of the homes do not have their own individual pool. The neighborhood is very close to Ocee Park which has more tennis courts, outdoor basketball courts, beach volleyball courts, baseball and soccer fields, and a playground. You have to drive out of the subdivision to get there. There are a lot of trees in the neighborhood (mostly, behind the houses). There are no sidewalks. The community is not gated nor do I think there is private security. The neighborhood is about five minutes away from Georgia 400, less than 10 minutes away from both Avalon and North Point Mall, and about 30-40 minutes away from downtown Atlanta without traffic. With traffic, expect a haul to the city to take around an hour. To the airport, expect a 35-45 minute drive or 1:20-1:30 in traffic. Overall, Tuxford feels safe and peaceful and it looks like a good place to raise a family. It's family-friendly and dog-friendly.
