We have done both Wenatchee and skykomish rivers with alpine. We thoroughly enjoyed both trips! I highly recommend the Wenatchee for people new to white water rafting. It's fun enjoyable trip. Ariel was an excellent guide and his food recommendation was fantastic! The skykomish was my fav raft trip to date! Parker was a fantastic guide! He safely navigated us newbies through the boulder rock rapid and I LOVED it! I can't wait to come back and do this trip again! my very nervous husband had a great time. FAB. This was the perfect adventure to show my visiting family from California and Nevada what Washington is all about! Not only were we able to get a good workout on the rapids, but we also got chill time to take in the beauty of the Wenatchee River. Swimming and learning how to rescue made the experience educational and extremely fun. Having never rafted before, the Class III trip was great and we're ready to take on Class IV! Although it wasn't exactly what I expected, it was worth the two hour drive from Bellevue, ESPECIALLY because our guide, Nelson, was and is such a gem. Totally trust-worthy and laid-back with lots of stories to tell! Nelson gave us a lot of freedom and I truly don't think we would have had as good of a time with any other guide. The only thing I would say could be improved is clarifying exactly what the plan was for the trip. Other than that, the whole experience was authentic and incredible! Two friends and I went last year for the Skyhomish trip. It was a pretty good time. Our boat flipped at Boulder Drop so that was pretty terrifying. Our guide had flipped it there as well on his morning trip he told us. No other boats flipped either trip, so you might want to ask your guide when assigned how their track record has been. They may not all be as experienced as each other? There was also a huge dinner being served afterwards that everyone else on our trip had signed up for. We were never given an option so that was weird....we just had to leave and go eat by ourselves. Revenge on Boulder Drop was on our minds so we decided to go back again this year. I filled out their online reservation form and heard nothing. I emailed them and asked about making a reservation. No response. I e-mailed and filled out the form again. No response. I finally caved in and called them--someone said "hello?" so I said "wrong number--sorry" and hung up to double check the number. My phone had already lit up with a voicemail. The owner left me an annoyed message saying he recognized my phone number and listed all the contacts I had made and that I should leave them alone. ALPINE ADVENTURES, YOU NEVER ONCE TOLD ME THE TOTAL AMOUNT DUE OR CONFIRMED MY RESERVATION. Anyway, we easily booked with one of their competitors in one e-mail. Summary: fun group of guys.....competence of operation (especially regarding setting up reservations) is highly suspect. read more

Had it not been for our specific guide being an entertaining, fearless young sprite, Steven, this group would have been a one star. This outfit was so incredibly unorganized, my guess on these other reviews is that they work for the company. First of all, there were no specific directions on how to get to the drop off point on their website. I called, and the woman "wasn't sure, so I'll have my boss call you". Never called. She tells me to look for the vans that say "Alpine Adventures". There were none. Not one sign, not one raft, nothing that bears the AA logo. Turns out, they contracted the peeps from Blue Sky Outfitters for our trip, and for all I know...for all other trips. Trying to call day of the trip on our way up to the river, and you get a voice mail saying "we are on the river". How bout a cell phone for the people that are paying $80 a pop to find you???!!! So this is the kicker. You drive up to the drop in spot...where the guides have this half ass lunch of deli sandwiches and potato salad waiting for you. Then you get all geared up. Then they take all the drivers that drove up to that point, 10 miles downriver to the end of the trip, then shuttle the drivers back to the drop IN point. So, while the non drivers are all geared up, looking at five rafts ready to get in the water on this brisk morning, we have to wait an additional half hour for our drivers to get back. To entertain us, we watch as the guides bicker back and forth at each other (a few f-bombs included), then eventually have a team meeting down around a corner where we cannot see them. Try to imagine being in a restaurant where your server disappears and you wait patiently for your food while everyone eats around you. With no communication, we were left to stew and recap how f'd up this group has been so far. Here's a thought. GET A BIGGER SHUTTLE. Don't ask us to waste our gas driving up to a spot, only to get back in our cars and park them down below. It wastes time. Either have the picnic at the top, then shuttle us all back at the end (typical protocol), or picnic at the bottom, and shuttle us all up. Don't put your clients out because you are too cheap to buy a retired school bus. Your website needs to be crystal clear on directions. Don't know what I am talking about? Try to find directions to the Skagit drop in point. This was bush league compared to the other trips I have been on, and I am not talking about the lack of rapids. We had kids with us, we knew it was beginner level...we didn't realize that beginner level meant beginner staff as well. I personally liked the fact that our guides did not have us sign any waivers, or disclaimers and therefore had no idea how many people there were and couldn't event disperse evenly the amount of people to the amount of rafts. I've used these guys about six times on the Skykomish and Wenatchee Rivers. They are very safe and friendly. They know how to hit the good spots on the rapids and are very personable and fun. The Skykomish is not a river for kids, but the Wenatchee is fine. I'd use them again and recommend them. read more

My boyfriend and I went out on a Saturday at the end of April on the Skykomish River and had such an amazing time. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and informative. The equipment was well cared for and in great condition. The rapids were a ton of fun. Went with a group of 5 plus the guide and it was a good amount. My buddy and I had a great time today with Will, our raft guide. He was entertaining, fun and knowledgable throughout the entire trip. Truly a great experience. I recommend Will all the way! On the contrary, I would have rated this endeavor 5 stars because Will made this a great experience, but there were a couple of opportunities I must make note of. The "manager" or "owner" was displeased with Will before our group started because he did not like the way our group boarded our raft. I found it VERY unprofessional that Will was scolded and exploited by his boss directly in front of the customer. Second, the safety guide was not happy when our raft lost an oar and Will attempted to retrieve it and we were forced a bit ahead down the river, detaching us from the group. Again, a person in charge exploited Will's decision, which definitely changed the time of the trip for a few minutes (and this had nothing to do with the fact that Will took it in stride and in no way was the root of the mood change...in fact, I was more pissed than he was). Last, when we returned to the meeting point for lunch, it was not prepared, and it was disorganized. Again, the "manager" gentleman (which is the guy who drives the bus) was scolding the lovely lady grilling the chicken on the BBQ because he was not happy with the way the chicken was being prepared. Although I had paid for lunch, my buddy and I were turned off yet again by this management style, and we decided to leave. (I pay attention to detail and I listen to my surroundings) My advice is to management and I would suggest when constructive criticism is needed, make it a point to approach it as an opportunity to learn and address the employee directly, BUT void of any possible chance a customer could witness the discussion. Pay attention to the details, small and large, and this trip could and would have been flawless. read more

He had a timely response to our ask and expectation for the most kid friendly rafting adventure we could get on the very scenic Icicle & Wenatchee river confluence.....our tour guides were great and they kept us entertained through out.... We did the Wenatchee and Skykomish double header first weekend of June. This was my 3rd time rafting and I must say a great guide can really make your trip, and on this trip both our guides were rad!! We had Nelson as our guide on the Wenatchee, great dude with a great attitude, funny jokes, made the whole trip entertaining. We ran the Skykomish the 2nd day and that was the river I was most looking forward to. Hal was our guide, super chill, professional, and made everyone on the boat feel at ease, even thru boulder drop. Both days were amazing! The best experience I've had on the river. I felt so safe and secure with my guide. We hit the Wenatchee at 14,000 csf and it had some serious action. We had a great trip on the Wenachtee river with a raft of about 7 people plus our guide, Cashmere. Although the water was a little lower and calmer than usual, we were still able to enjoy some fun rafting and rapids and only lost one person over the edge who was very quickly pulled back in and laughed about the whole thing. The trip was about 3.5 hours down the river, and I believe we floated about 10 miles. I learned a lot about rafting and the area, and we got a good idea of other rivers in WA that would be even more adventurous for future trips. There were also plenty of spots to stop and jump in for a cool-off in the calmer waters which most of us took advantage of for a little swim. My only reason for less-than-5 stars were organization and management-related, nothing to do with our great guide and trip: When calling to make the initial reservation, the customer service on the phone left much to be desired. I was put on hold multiple times abruptly, so I ended up hanging up and doing everything online. Also, I am glad we ate lunch before our trip because it was not clear if we would be eating on the trip. From previous reviews, it sounded like there was a lunch stop, and the reservation said food was "optional," but when we showed up our guide said we wouldn't be doing that for this trip. I'm not sure who or what determines if there is lunch, but it should be made clear to the guests so we know to eat ahead of time or not. And finally, the meeting spot was not well marked. It is a yellow and white box truck in a parking lot, but the other company had t-shirts on and tables with signs set up. We had to go to the competitors for them to direct us to our meeting spot for Alpine. All these little details pale in comparison to the fun trip we had, but I did think it was important to note for management to continue to improve their trips. Thank you to Cashmere for a fun adventure, and we will definitely be back for other river adventures. Also, note to the patrons: The guides do appreciate gratuity and it is customary to offer them a tip at the end of the trip if you had a good time. We asked, and they modestly told us a tip was very appreciated and welcome. :) read more

Awesome time! On vacation to Seattle and drove all the way here to go white water rafting! Nelson was our raft leader and he was great to have on our adventure. I took my dad out for Father's Day today and this company was great! They were reasonably priced, easy to find and had great guides. Jed was our guide, and he was very knowledgeable about the river. He even made it enjoyable for my family, who went 'swimming' in the rive! At the end, they had a great lunch of chicken and bean burritos and hot chocolate and cider waiting for us. All in all, we had an amazing time and my dad said it was the best Father's Day we've had! I definitely recommend these guys! read more

This was my family's first time rafting so we were all a bit nervous. We decided to go with the Wenatchee, which was perfect for us (we had two 7 year old children in our party). Nelson was our guide he was great! Interacted well with the adults and the kids made sure everyone had a great time. All of the guides were fun yet thoroughly trained. I could tell that even though they joked and had a good time they all knew what they were doing and made safety a top priority. Had a group of 8 and our crew included a 9, 11, and 13 year old and two of the girls were a bit apprehensive of the trip. Marissa took the time to explain her experience and time on the river to the girls and her calm and reassuring nature really made them comfortable and they absolutely loved the experience. By the end, they were all participating and paddling with confidence! The overall vibe was relaxed and the guides all were engaging and a genuinely fun group. Alpine Adventures is an awesome rafting outfitter just an hour away from Seattle. I have been on trips with them on both the Skykomish and Wenatchee Rivers. I felt completely safe with their guides (even when going down class V rapids), and enjoyed they food they served either during or after each trip. Best of all, their base camp in Gold Bar has a jacuzzi, so if you're feeling a little cold after the trip you can jump right in. I will definitely be choosing Alpine Adventures the next time I decide to go rafting. read more
