We drove here from Breckinridge and had the most amazing morning with Becca and her dogs. She taught us how to "drive" and was so kind and patient with us and our littles. Once in a life time experience. Worth the drive which was beautiful from Breckinridge.

I was very excited to go dogsledding but also worried about the treatment of dogs and if it was really something that I should be supporting . Luckily my fears were put at ease as soon as the dogs saw us, they were pulling at their leashes to run and wanted to play with their new visitors. The dogs were especially excited to see the tour guide. It was exactly how excited any dog gets when it's owner enters a room after being gone. If they were being mistreated, there is no way they would greet him so enthusiastically. I got my turn to drive the dogs lad and it was amazing to see how the dogs stayed on course and all I was really doing was applying the brake to slow them down as needed. When I came to a stop and put the brake on, I could physically feel the dogs still wanting to pull the sled. They didn't hate pulling it, they just hated stopping and wanted to keep running. We really enjoyed our experience and so would recommend Alpine Adventure Dogsledding if you have ever wanted to give it a try.

AVOID THIS PLACE for dog sledding. We just finished the trail and it was a very sad experience. The dogs appeared malnourished. They dismissed my concerns as their being "fit." Some acted like abused dogs and were very skittish with their tales between the legs. They are all chained up outside. The dogs that were not working were also chained up. Each one had a plastic tubular housing, completely open on both ends, so exposure to the elements is inevitable. It was a very concerning site. The lead dog was elderly, 9 years old, with significant dental decay. She stopped often along the trail and appeared winded. The staffer at the office desk was very pushy regarding tipping. It was expected to tip 20% on a $700 bill for an hour ride. I asked her why she doesn't pay her employees enough, and why counts on patrons for her employees to earn a living. At $175 per person, I would think they should take care of their employees! I JUST FOUND OUT THEY WERE REPORTED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY!!! PLEASE DO NOT PATRON THIS PLACE. IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY

Great experience from the moment we called to book our tour!! Don't remember the name of the gal we talked to on the phone, she gave us lots of helpful information. We came from Breckinridge it was about an hour away. Once we got there we were greeted in the office by the cutest golden retriever. They supplied ski overalls and had extra ski goggles for us to wear. Our tour guide was Jake! Jake introduced us to the dogs before we took off. They were all so cute and ready to run. My husband and I got to take turns guiding the dogs, with jakes help. We stopped along the way to take pictures and pet the dogs! The views were absolutely gorgeous! We would definitely recommend Jake as your tour guide! Very informative and we all had lots of light hearted conversations. It was a perfect day for dog sledding, they did mention the dogs don't usually run in temperatures above 38 degrees, so make sure to call and check on the nicer days. All staff was very friendly. The only unappealing thing about our experience was the sleeping conditions of the dogs. However we do understand they are working dogs and this specific breed is comfortable in cold weather. (Our husky fur baby is spoiled) I will be telling all my friends and family about our wonderful time here!!

This was a fun birthday surprise! Our guide, Austin was great. He was very conversant and enjoyable as well as gave good instructions on how to guide from the skids. I loved that we got to meet the dogs before we headed out. When we were with Austin, all the dogs were welcoming of petting. The dogs in the kennel area were about 50/50, some LOVED the attention others were quite timid. For sure print the directions, they are not hard, but there is NO signal up there! BTW, there is a cute mining museum in Leadville that is worth a look if you are going for the day :)

Our experience at Leadville was top notch. We got there early as requested and they provided snow bibs and snow boots if needed. Our tour was with Austin - who was amazing and super friendly! He ran a team of 10 dogs that day and we got to make friends with all the pups and learn their names! My girlfriend drove the sled first and I rode sitting down in the sled and then we switched. I definitely liked riding more than driving. It was a blast. Would definitely do it again! Thanks Austin for a great tour!

We had a great time with Justin our tour guide. He was very personable, energetic and kept it fun but safe at the same time. He made sure we respected the dogs and kept their safety in mind as well. The dogs were so great and nice to the kids and allowed them to get close and pet them. We had Lily as our lead dog and she was shy but did an excellent job. The tour felt like it was just the right amount of time and Justin made sure everyone was able to drive the sled and made sure the kids were comfortable throughout the tour. After the tour we were allowed to visit with the dogs in the kennel and all the dogs were very pleasant and allowed the kids to come up to them and love on them. Overall it was a terrific experience and I would most definitely recommend this location to friends and family!

We had a fantastic adventure! The guides are all friendly and very knowledgeable. You can tell that they take care of their dogs and pride themselves in working hard to maintain healthy animals. The surrounding mountains give an excellent backdrop for photos. We had a clear, sunny day and a really good time! Steering the sled wasn't challenging so it's a family friendly experience. The facility has some outhouses, they provide hot cocoa, but prepare yourself with lots of warm clothing.

LOVE!!!! They have 3 options for dog sledding, We did the $70, 80 minute private tour with 6 passengers. Paired off in 3's, each group got to lead/ride with the dog sled. The dog sled team essentially follows the guide and other passengers that are riding on the snowmobile. Staff here is extremely friendly and knowledgeble. Temperatures dropped down during our tour, and somehow our guide must have asked someone to snowmobile out to come bring us blankets. Also, plenty of time to play with the dogs and hang out with them! And what's awesome is that Alpine Adventures works with 7 other animal shelters to rescue these dogs, especially when most of them were race dogs in their prime years. They also provide complimentary hot cocoa, and apple cider. And snow boots. Thanks for a great time! :)

My first time dogsledding and I'm glad I came here . Got a little turned when trying to find place but it's in open location. Very organized and instructors were very nice and knowledgeable they also let us help feed some of the dogs . The most fun I had was in the dog pit with all the lovely dogs they all have such character. Next time I'm in Colorado I will be back here.

My family and I (total party of 4) were not content with our experience at Alpine Adventures. I would not recommend this experience to anyone. Despite the fact that they explain on their website that two participants are on the sled at a time while the others are on a snowmobile, we didn't expect to be so far away from the dog sled, which you can see in one of the pictures uploaded. For such an expensive price, each person only spends a short 20 minutes on the sled because the company put us in a group of 6 (total). The other 40 minutes you're on a snowmobile far away from the dogs. I gave the company one star because the views of the mountains were beautiful. If it weren't for the mountains , I would have put zero stars. However, the rest of the trail is not as enjoyable considering it is on an open field of snow and only goes around in circles, compared to touring through the woods or around a mountain. We have participated in dog sledding before in other places and the trails would go through woods, and we were disappointed with Alpine Adventure's trails. During the tour the dogs do not go fast. Again, on other dog sledding experiences, the dogs would run at a high speed and loved doing it. These dogs were going on more of a jog rather than a run. We understand that the dogs should not be overworked, but we think the company should put more dogs on one tour in order to go faster, and book less tours if needed in order to make a more enjoyable experience (for the price paid!!) We are also highly concerned for the safety of the dogs at Alpine Adventure. The staff members informed us they have over 120 dogs, but they do not provide the resources to care for them properly. Many of the dogs look malnourished and they have very small living spaces (shown in pictures). When asked, the staff confirmed that the dogs sleep outside in their tubes during the cold winter months because "they're used to the cold." The dogs looked worn out and were chained, which only allowed them to walk about 3 feet around their tubes. My heart breaks when I think of what these dogs' lives are like. If you look at the pictures, you can also see some of the roofs of the houses are completely broken and falling apart. Our tour guide informed us that the dogs that are blind are housed here in order to be protected from the sunlight, but we feel that these living quarters are highly dangerous for the dogs, as the roof looks like it could collapse at any moment. Overall, I recommend for everyone to save their money, time, and hearts and do not book with Alpine Adventures. For the price paid, each participant should spend more time on the sled, and the trail should be more entertaining. Alpine Adventures should start caring for their dogs more in order to improve their living standards. The dogs need to be cared for.

Wow! What a great experience!! My wife and father-in-law were the first riders on New Years Eve Day. 8:30 am -5 degrees and it was crystal clear with zero wind. We were never cold and had an absolute blast!! 3 adults total including 2 200lb plus, everyone was comfortable and warm. The price is worth every penny and we would have paid more. The dogs were all SO happy and well cared for, our entire family owns dogs large and small and all 3 of us spent time with each of the dogs that pulled us. These dogs LOVE doing this, and it was an awesome experience.
