I used Alpine Appliance because of my AHS recommendation. However, a Technician came out and damaged my appliance during troubleshooting, and reported it to AHS stating that it was damaged by mishandling and caused us to not be covered by AHS policy. I had to request a second opinion on the diagnosis of the Alpine. It was found that the Alpine was faulty and made a report. They turned around and asked us do we wanted to fix it without AHS. Smh. Trying to rip off people for a few $$$. I am glad that I got another Company and was able to move forward with AHS. read more

Ben went to my house for whirlpool dryer issue which is brand new one. The problem of dryer was stopping working after 2 min except for timer and quick drying. He run test model on dryer and told me no error. And explained me the problem was caused by light loading which sensor was not able to detect. It didn't make sense to me. Today I put heavy load into dryer and the same issue. When I checked sensor inside and noticed cable was lost from sensor, it worked well after I plugged into. The bad services he provided, even didn't take few minutes to check the sensor cable connection. Not professional and not recommended ! read more

I just moved into a house with a dryer that did not heat up. Called John and gave him all of my info. We set a time up for 2 days away. He did not show and did not call. I called him and he told me I should have texted him my info because he was driving when he took the call. At no point did he ever tell me he wanted me to do that or that he was driving. Won't do business with a company that blames the customer for their shortcomings! I told him I would not be doing business with him and he hung up on me. Very unprofessional. I called a week ago and made the appointment for the guy to come out and look at my wine cooler which had stopped working. I was given a quote on the phone for the amount as I needed to set aside the funds; when the guy came out and 'fixed' my problem suddenly the bill was twice as much as quoted. Turns out they had sent a guy they contracted with from ASAP Appliance and not one of their own so I needed to pay him too; I was not informed of this. Needless to say I refused to pay more than I was quoted on the phone. My wine cooler is still broken by the way, it stopped working 30 minutes after he left. After talking with an appliance repair friend (he doesn't work on wine coolers, I asked him first for those who want to know why I didn't ask him to look at it, he didn't know) turns out Alpine Appliance is an unlicensed repair company! Yep! Do not hire them! I'll just keep an eye on my bank account now and make sure they don't charge the extra money they tried when the 'fixed' my issue. read more

Very disappointed in our experience with John. We had high hopes that he would be able to help us with some older Appliances. Below is a summary of our experience. 1. We called John to help with a Gas Cooktop, Down Draft vent and Double Wall Oven. All items were giving us issues. He came out at the agreed upon time and concluded nothing was wrong with the Gas Range and Double Wall Oven. Even though we STILL have issues with them more than a week later. The Downdraft Vent needed a new PC Board and he provided a bid of $285 for Labor and $175 to $275 for parts. He promised to call us later that day to schedule a follow-up. Total cost for 45 min of his time to bid on the Vent fix and tell us the other appliances are fine was $145. 2. No call from John, so we followed-up 2 days later and scheduled time for him to return, disassemble the downdraft, replace the parts, put it back together and have it working for us. John suggested repair over replacement and suggested it still had a long life. 3. John showed up and went to work on the downdraft. After one hour he concluded it was as good as it would get. Unfortunately, only 2 of the 5 functions worked and it stopped working completely a few hours later. No parts were replaced. He charged the full $285 labor (minus a $50 credit from his 1st visit). The frustration is that we agreed to his labor rate with the expectation that he was going to be replacing parts to get the vent functioning properly. He did his labor, but didn't replace any parts and the vent did not work completely when he was there, and now does not work at all. 4. I called John to explain our frustration. John was rude and indicated I was insulting him. He called me a liar and disputed what he wrote on his bid. He said he never agreed to replace the parts. Even thought that is exactly what his bid says. I added a screenshot of his bid highlighting the work we agreed to. He claimed he was trying to save us money by not replacing the parts. While I wish this were true, I have to look at the fact that I've spent $400 with John and not a single Appliance has been fixed. The Down Draft Vent doesn't work, the Gas cooktop has issues, and the Double Wall Oven doesn't work correctly either. Cant give any negative review here. Have to actually file a lawsuit against this company. Terrible experience. I hired Alpine to fix an Ice maker on a 1 year old refrigerator. They came and "claimed" it was fixed...when it was clearly was not. I was billed through my credit card. As I explained through 6 emails asking for them come back and actually fix the appliance they didn't. I asked them to reverse the charges and informed them that I would hire someone else. They didn't (as I expected) and so I contacted my credit card company and sent them the emails and the charge was reversed. End of story....or so I thought. They fraudulently sent me to collections and filed a lien on my property. So I have to spend time filing a suit against them, the collection company and the company that liened my property. Along with filing a compliant to all the appropriate contractors licensing organization and going after there bond to get me reimbursed for my costs. read more

Had John out on a dryer repair because it was not heating, he tore it apart and come to find out it was a bad heating element and a bad thermal cutoff. He explained that a combination off both parts being bad is rare but this was an old dryer so I wasn't surprised. Naturally it hiked up the price of the repair. I asked him if it was more reasonable to just buy a new dryer and he said it was an option but since it needed multiple parts he offered to give me a new belt for free. Sold!!! I would not recommend this company. The repair man showed up, two separate times, without calling ahead as requested. Worst of all, he used my bathroom both times, one of which he talked on his cell phone in the bathroom for 15 minutes. Just had an extremely unpleasant experience with John. He was so rude. In many years of homeownership I have never experienced that level of unprofessionalism. He walked out on the job because he couldn't finish it before his next appointment. Without any explanation except that he didn't have wire and fish tape with him. At some point on his way out it became obvious he wasn't even going to come back and finish the job. I did everything I could think of to make him aware of the existing conditions--sent him photos, installation instructions and specs from the manufacturer. He inspected the old range hood, removed it, exposed the wiring, etc. last week and this morning got the new range hood out of the box and readied it for installation. After a long time he announced he needed some tools which were back at home and would come back to finish tomorrow. When I asked what the tools were (i.e., I could run out and pick up fish tape and wire for him) he said I wasn't listening to him and he walked out, never to return, presumably. A nightmare. We called John at Alpine about a year ago when we received a recommendation from Service Magic. Over the phone, I told John my problem and he troubleshot while talking on the phone. He thought perhaps my Condenser Fan had stopped spinning (I had vacuumed under the fridge and apparently accidentally hit the fan offline) and sure enough, John was right. John saved me a service call and I was grateful! I told John if there was anything else wrong in the future, I would refer my business to him......so here I am. A few weeks ago, the automatic ice machine was over producing ice. I lifted the control bar to stop the ice flow and the freezer has never been the same since. A few days after doing so, the freezer was beginning to get warm while the food in the fridge began to freeze the milk and other liquid drinks. We adjusted the temp controls and thought the problem was fixed. Soon after the fridge began to give off a loud buzzing sound ever few hours. It sounded like it was coming from the back of the fridge. We then pulled the fridge out from the wall, took off the back plate and I vacuumed the condenser and all areas under. I thought that perhaps since we were having warmer weather in the 80's, the fridge was struggling to breathe. That solution seemed to work and the loud buzzing stopped. But then soonafter, the water supply to the door had stopped. We couldn't get any water out of the door. So, after a few times of trying to get a glass of water from the door, it seemed like the water loosened up or perhaps unfroze, and the water flowed fine. Now, 2 weeks later, the ice machine has stopped making ice altogether, but temps inside the freezer and fridge have seemed to even themselves out and the fridge is *working*. The control bar in the ice machine works fine, as does the ice maker itself and I hear the evaporator fan going in the freezer. We cannot get any water to flow into the ice maker to produce ice. Again, we pulled the fridge out from the wall, seemingly checked the water lines for hardness or possible ice blockage, but it's been 2 days now and still no water flow to the freezer to the ice maker to produce ice. About once an hour, I do hear inside the fridge that it seems like the water mechanism is trying to turn itself on to flow to the ice maker, but no water goes. At this point, the repair is well above my husband's and my skill level.....so, we called John at Alpine. John arrived at my home and was courteous and listened to all of my previous troubleshooting (listed above) and began to diagnose the problem. He was leaning toward a frozen water line to the ice maker. He removed the line from the back of the fridge and asked for a hair dryer......all while doing this, he was teaching me what to do if the problem arose again. The ice was a little more compacted than he originally thought, so he opened the freezer, removed the back wall panel and proceeded to use the hair dryer to the water chute to the ice maker. Woohoo! An ice clog shot out the water line the size of a small bullet. John put everything back together with care and the ice maker was fixed. Since my fridge is over 10 years old, I asked John to just do a "once over" in hopes I wouldn't need to be calling him again soon. He took of the front kick plate and looked under the fridge. He said it looked good, was clean (after I vacuumed the coils) and was in presumably good working order. I paid John his Service Fee! That's it! God bless him......even as he was exiting my house....he said "listen, if you have any more problems, feel free to give me a call, I can try to help you troubleshoot it over the phone". It's so refreshing to see an honest repairman like John. I recommend him to anyone and will not hesitate to call him again, if I ever need another appliance repair. Five stars for sure. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly customer service (Willing to indulge multiple questions) and a good guy overall. Thanks John and Alpine! read more

John was terrific! The freezer side of our fridge stopped working. John said he waived his home visit fee if we went with the repair so we scheduled him for a few days later. He arrived on time, quickly diagnosed the problem, explained it to us clearly and gave us a fair estimate - $300 to replace the compressor motor. We agreed, he came back a couple days later and the problem was solved. John was expert, professional and pleasant. We asked him to come back and fix a leaking dishwasher (mouse had chewed hose and boot). He again gave us a fair estimate ($185 including parts) came back a few days later and fixed everything. He also noticed a hole under the cabinets and suggested we close that off so we wouldn't have more mice in the future. He also double-checked the other hoses, found another leak, and told me what parts to buy at Home Depot so I could fix it myself. I was very pleased with how quickly John figured out the problems, how fair his prices were, how reliable he was and how pleasant he was to work with. I recommend him highly and would call them first if I have a problem in the future. Jan 2014 update We've used John a half dozen times to fix our fridge and washing machine. I am so glad that I was able to get a hold of John! We had a failing refrigerator and had waited 2 weeks to find a repair person only to receive a call that they needed to reschedule another week out due to vehicle issues. I must have made a dozen calls many of which were never returned. One appliance repair shop suggested that I call John. I immediately called Alpine Appliance and John answered his own phone. I called John to fix my LG dryer, as it stopped working. He came by and started the drum rolling by hand and suggested nothing was wrong and he was not sure why that happened. He charged us 93 $ for the visit. Once he was gone, dryer started to stop again, and since then i have called him more than 5 times over 1 month, every time leaving voice message. My wife also tried and called him a couple times without any return phone calls. I feel like i was cheated 100 dollars out of me and my problem wasn't solved. Was a last minute call when all others were out weeks. Happened to be in the area the next day so slipped me in. Quickly diagnosed the problem. I had assumed the worst and that unfortunately was his opinion so will buy a new dishwasher. Would certainly have had them do the repair work if that had been practical. Only little thing I would have thought better was if he had put on booties without asking. Leaves the owner in the position of having to say no when he is standing there with hands full of tools. Not a good experience- started off ok, pleasant enough but went south from there. I'm doing a 2 star instead of 1 star ONLY because they seemed polite at first, nothing else about the experience was good. I had a bit of a tough time chasing them down to get them to come out to give a bid on repairing my refrigerator that had a buzzing sound. Finally Bill comes out for 10-15 minutes (per cameras). I hear nothing back from him after that. Not a word. I contacted them again after over a week. Then I get quoted a price that shocked me $700 with tax! He states that I need a new main PC board. No further follow up from Bill, not a word from him. I couldn't afford the estimate, so I didn't respond back to the bid, and had a handyman do some work on the refrigerator. Handyman defrosted refer, installed new fan, then called Bill to let him know what he'd done and asked if Bill could reduce the price from $700 a bit for me since he'd defrosted the refer (which was needed) Bill admitted to my handyman on the phone that he hadn't really diagnosed the problem w/my refer but it's usually the PC board (which appears to be an expensive part). So the quote he'd given me didnt include a true diagnosis and was for a part that I may or may not have needed- he made no comment on if it wasn't the PC board he'd reduce his price. I was just gonna get charged $700 period. Handyman said Bill would call him back to see if he could adjust his estimate or not because defrosting had been done. No word back. I finally contacted Bill and said my handyman could not fix, could you come out and do the repair afterall. Bill replied because I had not responded to his initial quote (nor had he followed up with me) he said he would not do the repair. WTH. Then he claimed he had spent up to 3 hours driving to and from Monroe (GPS says on Friday afternoon its' 36 minutes) to my house at the time for nothing. (?) I had no idea where he lived when he first came out. He didn't quote any fees for an estimate. Alot of company's don't charge for an estimate, which I would've paid him if he'd told me, and apparently he was just mad I didn't hire him to begin with and so refused to do the repair for me at all. Very strange. He was unreasonable with me and unpleasant with my handyman. I am so glad I did not hire him afterall as I was referred to another, great appliance repair company who is honest, took time to diagnosis the problem, and did the repair for $142 including tax, no new PC board needed at all. I will not use John again! I called him and explained the problem my gas range was having and he said I needed a new ignitor. He came and installed it but did not fix the problem. After several calls to him he admitted he didn't know how to fix the problem (a whistling noise) so he said he would send me a partial refund. I was referred to Alpine Appliance Repair through the Home Advisor web site when our dishwasher stopped working. I called the number and the gentleman who answered asked me to describe the problem. (Water was not getting in), He had me open the washer and take out the bottom rack. He told me where to look, and sure enough a fork had fallen down and jammed the water inlet mechanism. I removed the fork and ran the washer. It worked fine! There was no charge for this kind and timely advice. Don't call Alpine if you want service. After attempting to reach the local company who uses an automated answering service,- replete with menus and buttons to push, I reached a real person. I was told that he would call Alpine and he gave me a number to call incase we didn't connect. A bit later, my phone rang. A noisy, wind filled message said that my call would be returned after he got out from under probably a washer. Thinking I was speaking with the tech, I said, "Fine." After waiting that late afternoon and through the following morning, I called the number given. I heard the same noisy, wind filled message (recording.) Again, I waited after leaving another message and would be waiting to this day. I never did receive a call. My dishwasher was happily repaired by another competent repairperson. EXTREMELY disappointed with this expensive experience. My Samsung dryer stopped working and I thought it would be the dreaded lint again. John said it was the thermostat and I had to wait for parts. He came back and installed it and the following day it worked for 10 seconds and stopped. Since I paid $275 John did return after several phone messages and the end result was he moved the dryer away from the wall to let it vent into the garage instead of outside. He told me to find an engineer to tear apart my deck and re-engineer a new exhaust "pipe". Right. So it has run that way for 7 months and vented into my garage. It has stopped working again and I won't know until a reputable outfit diagnoses it what may have caused this malfunction. I certainly didn't get $275 worth of "fix" nor was I refunded for a part I don't believe I needed as my dryer still didn't work. Pulling it from the wall instead of snaking the lint from the line should not have cost me anything! read more
