Great for photos and videos. Overall this was a good family activity for cheap. Once we were done we did play in the arcade at the bottom which is huge. I feel for $32 for a family of 4 it was worth every penny and you got a second ride out of it.

A high fenced off area enables you to view them in their natural surroundings. Most of the eagles sit very high on their perches and it is hard to get a good look at them. Eagles are an endangered species and of course our national bird. You actually get to see a bald eagle if you take in the Wings of America show located right next door to the compound. They will even allow you to come up and take a picture next to it after the show! The show in itself is a worthwhile attraction since you learn about different birds and the trainers will walk up and down the aisles so you get a glimpse of them up close. To the left of the stage show is a compound that houses the birds used in the show which you can view at a distance. As is true in all cases, you are not permitted to feed any of the birds since they are on a special diet. Contributions can be made to the American Eagle foundation to help ensure their preservaction.

They have their own mountain to sit on. The enclosure is divided into five sections. The largest is the pick a mate section where eligible bachelors and bachelorettes can find a partner. Three smaller enclosures are dedicated to nesting birds and include materials that they can use to build their nests. The last enclosure is on level ground for birds who have lost all ability to fly. The eagles are under the care of the American Eagle Foundation who are authorized by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to use the birds for exhibition, breeding, education, and rehabilitation. The American Eagle Foundation was founded by Al Cecere who was moved to action reading an article that 23 bald eagles had been shot dead by poachers. After finding out that bald eagles were on the verge of extinction he dedicated his life to restoring the bald eagles habitat and to caring for and protecting them. In 1990 the AEF entered into a partnership with Dollywood to develop a facility that would provide education to the public, participate in a breeding program, and care for the birds that could not be released. The AEF headquarters is located just a few minutes from the park and tours can be arranged if they are made 7 days in advance online. In April of 1991 Dolly Parton, Al Cecere, and Bob Hope opened the UNited States Eagle Center at Dollywood. Today the AEF operates the largest eagle breeding and education center in the United States. Some of the eagles are featured in the Wings of America Birds of Prey show in the park along with falcons, hawks, vultures, and owls. If you can't make it Dollywood you can still see these magnificent birds on the parks live web cam. I like to check in on the eagles from time to time since I have come home. They look very happy and you can occasionally here the sound of the train horn or people screaming out on a ride in the background. Dollywood is not your ordinary theme park and the Eagle Sanctuary is just part of what makes a visit so special.

This was our third time playing escape games here, and they have yet to disappoint. We did Diamond Heist first and then the Haunting (which I highly recommend especially for teens and up). The employees here are awesome!! They are friendly, down to Earth, and welcoming. The games here are also much more affordable than those at the Escape Games at the Island. They are currently working on creating two more games as of July 2021, and we are super excited for those to be ready. The buffet is regular fare, decent, but not what you're there for--it's all about the show. The food is served beforehand so you want to arrive early to grab your food and eat in an open pavilion. (The menu for the current buffet is on their website if you want to know beforehand what is served.) You'll make your way to the show when the gate opens. You can watch some axe throwing or check out the gift shop while you wait. We were here in February and it was fairly cold, so we went to the gift shop to stay warm. Please note that everything Is open to the elements, so I would recommend going when the weather is mild. They do have heaters, but it was still cold. Some people brought blankets, which was a great idea. Back to the show...it's like a lot of the shows here, which includes audience engagement. This one is based on a feud between 2 families, all in fun. There is stomping and calling, and sitting on the edge of your seat at times with the log cutting stunts and close races. The competitions are fun to watch and there is enough repartee and stories to add a little interest, but still keep it family friendly. There are small prizes handed out to the smaller participants in the audience at the end of each competition round. We enjoyed the show enough that we will likely return in future.
