I purchased a groupon for an inspection and cleaning. The "technician" decided to try to scam me and showed me a piece that was broken off in my chimney, but I have cameras in and around my house and I saw him place in the back of the flue and then tried to sell me a $1,500 liner that was ready to go on the back of the truck. When our backs were turned he took the piece back to use on the next unsuspecting person. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau - but they already have an F rating there. Do not use this company. During a single visit, we were scammed in multiple ways. Only when another mason came to inspect our chimney for structural reasons did we learn the full extent of the damage. My wife and I tried calling Alpine to remediate the problems, but on the phone they acted like we were the ones being unreasonable. So my last resort is this Yelp review, something I normally don't do. The worst offense: Work done by Alpine was actually choking our chimney, so smoke couldn't get out, causing our living room to fill with smoke. We never would have guessed Alpine caused this issue until the other mason pointed out to us that the caps sold to us by Alpine were the wrong size and improperly sealed. Alpine also double charged us. We had bought a Groupon for a chimney sweep, (meaning we had already paid) but Alpine still charged us for the chimney sweep on the bill. This was an issue it took multiple phone calls and persuasion to correct. And after all that, they did not even properly clean our chimney, which was the reason we called them in the first place. The next year, when the aforementioned other mason came by, he told us the chimney was so dirty there was no way it had been cleaned the year before. Avoid Alpine at all costs. I can't comment on their workmanship because I couldn't even get them to come do the work. Set up appointment which they cancelled because it was raining and were behind (which they cancelled less than an hour before they were supposed to come). Promised to reschedule for next afternoon and would call with a time. Never did. I called them, left message. No response. Called two more times on separate days to reschedule. They never called back. They are cheap for a reason. Don't even bother. Very unprofessional. read more

Alpine responded quickly to my request and took care of the inspection and cleaning. Our fireplace had been subjected to tons of water damage and Alpine refinished the throat of our chimney in short order and for a good price. Will be using them again! read more

Purchased a deal through Groupon. Wound up returning it and getting money back. We scheduled visits with Alpine Chimney to come and perform a safety inspection and chimney cleaning. We have recently moved into a new home and wanted to get an inspection prior to lighting our first fire. Needless to say, after three scheduled visits, they cancelled on us after waiting around the house all day each of the three times. The employees were completely unprofessional over the phone when we could get a hold of them and then would say we would get a phone calls back and they never called. Do not use this company. They tried the same scam with me. I got a Groupon for a cleaning and was told by the technician that I needed a new liner that he would install immediately. He also showed me alleged broken pieces as proof and pictures that were supposedly taken from roof of a broken flu. What he didn't know, is that a tree had fallen on the chimney two years earlier and we had it completely repaired. When I brought in another company for a 2nd opinion, not only did they not find the damage, they told me that the chimney's had not even been cleaned! As proof, they should me that my fireplaces have an old-fashioned fixed damper that requires that the flus be cleaned from the roof! So for an hour, they pretended to clean my chimneys! The 2nd company also said I had an alarming build-up of creosote that presented a fire hazard. If I hadn't gotten that second opinion, who knows what would have happened! These reviews are correct!! These guys are not trustworthy! I had them do my chimney sweep, replaced my fireplace damper, install flue caps, and redo the concrete crown on top of the chimney. The night after they did the crown, it rained and all the concrete mix washed down the side of the chimney onto my new roof, staining it pretty bad. I called, and they came back to power wash everything. They said they would have to come back to redo the crown when it was dry. I called and spoke to Ereena several times, and each time she made some excuse as to why they couldn't come back yet...the hurricane, the cold, whatever. So I stopped calling to see if they would be honorable and do the right thing without me continuing to hound them. So far, they have not done the right thing and the crown continues to wash down my chimney onto my roof. If you read this, come do the right thing. read more

I had an appointment schedule for between 10-1Pm My husband took off of work. At 1:35 I get a phone call first telling me that the techs are running late and in the next breath that the owner is pulling all the trucks off the road because of rain.. My appointment needs to be cancelled, the lady says. My response is you are telling me this at 1:35 after the techs were already supposed to be here. If the techs were running late why not call earlier? What business stops driving because of rain? If all company's did that nothing would get done. The lady was very rude and when I said that I think I would go somewhere else she got rudder and then said fine and hung up. Again how is that good business.. Will tell everyone that I know not to use this company. Response : Why would I make a new appointment again to have the same thing happen. I understand the rain and not safe however I think you would have known this before it was past my appointment time. Also the way the lady spoke to me I would never do business with you. This company is the worst. They are unresponsive and disrespectful. They act as if they are doing you a favor to work with them. We gave them a $500 cash deposit to do work masonry work on our chimney. They promised to redo 4 courses of brick, repoint, change two chimney caps and add waterproofing for $2,000. They sent one guy to do the work two months later. They did not use any new bricks, there are now big gaps in the mortar, only one cap was used when I had two and they did not waterproof. Now I am getting water in my basement which we never had before. These guys are scam artist! Mr. Chimney was charging $200 less but I decided to go with Alpine because the owner looked me straight in the eye and I believed he would do a good job. Now they don't even return calls. Totally unprofessional and rude!! I scheduled an appointment for cleaning and inspection through a Groupon purchase and I raced home from school to my appointment only to be called after the appointment time and told they weren't coming and needed to reschedule because they were overbooked!!! I asked why hadn't they called sooner in the day? No response. I then tried rebooking the time for the following week and the woman refused to make accomodations based on my teaching work schedule and told me I needed to work with her schedule!!!! She became nasty on the phone and at that point I stated I didn't want them in my home and to issue me a refund whereupon she promptly told me to issue myself a refund and hung up on me!!! Add another voice to the chorus of "Stay away! Be Warned!" They will sell you a liner whether you need one or not, but will not take care to install it properly. Mine was crushed, perforated and not fully connected to the furnace pipe, all of which was discovered when inspected by actual professionals. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I had them come in to give us a quote for replacing the chimney liner and the man doing the inspection seemed to be intoxicated. He was stumbling around and slurring his words. When he went up on the roof he was telling me all this other things he thought was wrong but I knew they were not and that was not why I called. When he came into the house he looked up the chimney and then went back out to the truck and while he was out there my wife noticed he had gotten tar all over our new white rug from his shoes. I went outside to tell him he did this and he completely denied that he had done this even though he showed me the bottom of his shoes which were covered in tar. I went back into my house and took pictures of the tar on the rug (I did not want him to come back into my house after this) and went out to show him and he said "that was not from me". It was very probable that he was drunk, he smelled of alcohol and he could barely open his eyes. So unprofessional and even scary that this happened. read more

Alpine had a chimney sweep deal, so I called them and they came out to clean the chimney. They said I needed a chimney liner and gave me a quote for $1400. I ended up hiring a different company to do a bunch of jobs around my home, and mentioned I needed a chimney liner installed. When the other company checked the chimney, it turned out I already had a functioning chimney liner. When Alpine contacted me later to see if I wanted to install the liner, I texted back that I was confused about why I needed a chimney liner if I already had one. I got no response and never heard from them again. I will not use Alpine again since I don't feel that I can trust them. read more

Finally arrived to do cleaning after not showing three days not showing without calling. Lady rep from company ( when she answered) was extremely polite and appologic but the no shows were unprofessional. When the cleaning crew finally showed on 4th day they seemed to do a good job, although fast. They were polite and clean. Only reason I used Arrow was Groupon deal. Steer as far away from this company as possible! The owner does not stand behind his workmanship and is a liar. I paid $500 to have the refractory panels of my modular fireplace coated with high temperature cement. The cement peeled off in 2 places less than 60 days after the work had been done. They showed up to sweep 2 chimneys on time and were professional. They told me they would check the chimneys to see if they could be used since we hadnt ever had them cleaned since we moved in. After cleaning them, they told me 1 needed a $575 part and the other a $2200 part. If the chimneys weren't functioning for safe use, why clean them!?!!! Would you put gas in a broken car?! The guy said if i bought the $575 part that day, he'd waive the cleaning fee. I said i had to call my husband. He was a bit pushy, and said i should make the executive decision and get the part. Then he offered it to me for $475. I agreed. When i asked him to then waive the cleaning also, he said he could no longer do that! I now have 1 working chimney, but they charged me $90 to clean my woodstove chimney and the wood stove is not up to code without $2200 worth of work! STAY FAR AWAY! But clearly thats apparent from all the other bad reviews. read more
