When the big box store automatic key cutting machine can't cut a key correctly these guys get it right. I needed duplicate key for the mailbox. The key machine made 2 copies. Neither one worked. Took them back and received 2 more. Two more duds. Went to different store and cut 2 more. Now I have 6 keys that don't work. I used my digital caliper and every one of the cuts were off from the original by .004 to .008. Not a lot, but all the difference. Sigh. read more

I needed to replace a key fob for my 2022 Honda Ridgeline. After a few hours of digging through Yelp reviews and other sources, I chose Alpine Lock & Key--and I'm so glad I did. I stopped by on 7/11/2025. (I'm including the date in hopes that someone there can help me remember the awesome technician's name--I forgot it. Again.) He was professional, friendly, and made the whole process easy. I brought in a pair of blank fobs that I bought on Amazon after a failed attempt with another locksmith. Honestly, I was smiling after spending only a few minutes in the shop. The customer service took me back to the good old days--when people were genuinely helpful, efficient, and seemed happy to be doing their job. Within 40 minutes, I had two working copies of my fob and key. And the best part? The total cost for cutting and programming two sets was a fraction of what the Honda dealership or even Costco's Car Keys Express wanted to charge. I stopped in with a mystery of the day. I have a jewelry box from 1979 that was locked, and of course I could not find the key. I wanted to give this to my granddaughter to hold all her pretties, as she calls them. They took the time to try several different key combinations, even grinding one down, to find one that would do the trick and open my jewelry box. The entire time they remained positive, helpful, and they finally opened! And to my delight, they didn't even charge me for their time or the key. This is why we have used them before to replace our car door openers and make replacement keys. Well, let me tell you that I have used this company three times in the last year. Needles to say I am the worst when it comes to loosing keys or locking them in my car. Yesterday I called them to come and unlock my door and make a new key because yes I lost my keys again. It was my 26 year old GMC cargo van. Well they got the door unlocked in no time.....But trying to make the ignition key was another story. After two plus hours and six or seven tries I told them to stop I would have it towed to the GMC dealer. The best part of a good company I handed the tech my credit card and he said I can't charge you because I could not fix your problem. WOW !!!!!! NOT MANY companies have the work ethics today. Came into their shop today with my camper. I lost my keys and they were able to unlock the camper and replaced the whole lock assembly for less than making new keys. Being an out of towner, they could have taken advantage of me but they didn't. The whole staff was friendly and the 2 young men that helped me were great. I've been to this place on and off throughout the years. For the most part, the experience was good. I went here last week to get a key copy for my motorcycle. The wait was kind of long and no one really acknowledged me while I was standing there. However, I could see that they were busy. After a few minutes, a lady asked if she could help me. I told her what I needed and she went back making a key copy. She came back after a few minutes and told me to try the key out on my motorcycle. My bike wasn't there at the time. She said if it fits, come back and pay for it. If it doesn't fit, come back and they'll try to make another one. So I went home and tried it on the bike. It fit! I went back the next week and paid for the key. I thought it was nice that she spent the time on making the key and not taking payment up front. There was no way I was going to skip out on a payment for their kindness. I'll be bringing my locksmith needs to them from now on. One side note. The parking is kind of a pain to get out of. You have to back out of a busy street to get out. read more

I called at 5:30 am on 1/26/26 and got some man on the phone who was not friendly. Granted, it was 5:30am but it's their job to help people 24 hours a day 365 days a year. I wouldn't like having to be on call either but again, that's their job. He told us that if we could wait till 9am it would cost less so thats what we chose to do. So when we called at 9am, we called their competitor instead. If you want to be craby with people then that's the chance you take. You lost a customer. read more

I was In a bind. Called this company to see if they could change the keys on a house that I had closed escrow on. They said somebody would be able to come between 3-4:30. About a year ago my patio door handle started sagging. I talked to Andersen Door company and they sent a part to fix it. I replaced the old part with the new and the door worked great for about a year. Recently it stopped working altogether. This time it was beyond my ability to fix. I called Alpine Lock and Key and the woman who answered the phone was very helpful and professional. She asked for pictures, which I sent, and after she showed them to the workers she called me back and said it was something they could fix. Don showed up the next day and clearly knew how to work on my door. He quickly diagnosed the problem and showed me the broken piece. I came in here because my newly purchased 2021 GMC Sierra was having issues with not having a second fob and giving me a code for "service anti theft system". The dealership wanted over $800 to buy and program two new fobs. This place did it for under $200 and the fobs were OEM (with the GMC logo and everything). Would highly recommend this place. Bought a 2023 Honda Ridgeline from CarMax but I was surprised they sold it to me with only one key fob! After pricing the cost of a 2nd key fob from Honda, (around $500) I checked with Alpine Lock & Key. They didn't have it in stock, but they ordered the blanks and I got the new one within a week. We highly recommend Alpine Lock and Key. Our sliding door has never locked or had a key entry. We needed to fix this as we plan to rent our downstairs living area. I called multiple locksmiths who stated they could not help us and sliders are not good entry doors. I almost gave up and decided to spend 1000's to replace the door. Alpine saved the day! I recently bought a car and the aftermarket key fob it came with only worked sometimes, after searching everywhere online I came across Alpine Lock and Key. It only took less than 30 minutes and they programmed and cut a new key for me. They guy was very nice, honest, answered my questions. This locksmith shop knows what customer service truly is. My experience with the technician at Alpine Lock and Key in Reno was exceptional. Lucas was very professional. I had a problem with a key fob for my lexus. This was not a typical problem. To Alpine Lock and Key, Inc. and its potential customers; During a camping trip in a desolate part of Nevada, North of Reno, I was hiking and lost the keys to my 2020 Ford truck. Worse, I had no phone reception. I was very fortunate to catch a ride to the small town of Gerlach, where I was able to contact the Ford dealership around Reno and basically, they said we simply can't help you unless you had the car towed to them! The people at Ford were not only helpless but almost rude. Then a breath of fresh air; I got the phone number for a place called Alpine Lock and Key. I was in a really Tough spot. My car was in a remote area 1/2 hour away from Gerlach, Plus I was 1 1/2 hours away from Reno. With a little encouragement, I was able to get an incredibly nice young man Gabriel, to drive all the way to pick me up and then another 1/2 hour drive to make the key for my car. Because I messed up and gave him the wrong specifics of my truck he brought the wrong key fob BUT!, with his skill set he was able to make it work and got me to Reno safe and sound. The next morning I went to visit the store and they perfectly matched my truck and key. These people are terriffic and virtually saved my life! Use alpine locks often and the way Jessica or Jackie answered the phone Friday morning, worst customer service I have ever received. Like I'm baffled she kept grunting and being so rude I just asked can I ask for one more thing she goes "ugh what else do you need" like you know what never mind. Don't know if she's not a morning person but wow did not need that attitude on-top of a key being broken and needing help to get it fixed. Hands down the best lock and key company I've ever had the pleasure to work with. And it took me a while to find them, lots of ups and downs. For example, I once used a hired one of their competitors to do some work, and the whole time, the locksmith that was in my home was telling about how he learned this trade... In prison. The wife said "be open minded, there is such thing as reform. (To which I agree, however) or home was broken into 5 weeks later and there was no sign of forced entry. I then had to re-key Soni called Alpine, and a nice young man arrived, did a bang up job and if he was ever in prison, you wouldn't know. I was so comfortable with him in my home, my wife offered him a snack and a few minutes to take a break. (Dear Alpine, if he wasn't actually allowed to accept a treat and chat for 5 minutes, disregard this section of the review.) Anyhow, about 2 months later we were in need of access control at my office and they were my first call. We've been doing business exclusively with them for years now.
