The two times I locked myself out of my car(here in Reno at least), these guys helped me out. Don't waste your time trying to call other locksmiths on a Friday night because you get an answering machine for 90% of them or someone that charges a stupid amount. I found Alpine very reasonable price wise, for dealing with my own stupidity and both times they got my problem fixed in less than 10 after they got there. One of those times was way out on USA Parkway and I was seriously worried I would get charged an arm and a leg to drive all the way out there. That was not the case, they showed up almost as fast as one could drive out there as well as being shockingly affordable. I will always use these guys for any future moments of stupidity. I had 1 hour left until my pickup appointment and frantically called all locksmiths in the Reno/sparks area. Since I had a Liberty LX25 safe and a hefty, fire-resistant file cabinet to move into our new home, I initially consulted with Alpine Lock & Key back in May 2025 about how best to do so since both items were located 280 miles away. I have a little toyota with a bed cover and locking tailgate. I'd just gotten back from Costo with a truck full of groceries and I could not get it unlocked. I called at 3 on a Saturday and they told me to come on down as they closed at 4. Lucas kinda grinned when I showed him my truck and proclaimed himself a Toyota Nerd. He had the tailgate stripped down within minutes and found out the bolt for the aftermarket lock was too long. A spacer and a few tweaks and it was fixed! (And seemed to enjoy the task to boot!) Sadly will no longer be using this company. I previously used the company for replacing all the locks in my home and garage costing over 700$. I had an emergency lockout with my toddler loosing my house key. Even being a previous client the employee over the phone refused to be of assistance and seemed rather annoyed at the time of night I had called and the distance the drive would be. Commenting that I'd be breaking into the home. Even when I said money isn't an issue it was an emergency situation and I needed help to put my two toddlers to bed. Please extend better customer service in the future. I hope another customer isn't treated with such annoyance. read more

I went in to get a key to my vehicle cut and programmed (that I had bought through Amazon). First thing they said was they couldn't guarantee that, which was understandable. But they cut the key and then transferred the transponder successfully. They had an issue with getting the remote to work, but I saw what they were trying to do and I think they missed a step. I came home and reread the instructions for the remote programming and got it working right away. But them patiently explaining how the programming works is what did it for me. And because they didn't have to do any programming, they waived the fee to cut the key itself. They were very friendly and patient with someone who had a lot of questions. My daughter recently purchased a new car that only came with one remote head key. We made a couple of phone calls and found the cheapest place was Alpine Lock and Key. These keys can run well over $500. Gone are the days that a locksmith would come to your car. Gone are the days were any key you had could be cut at a small kiosk or the closest general store. Alpine lock and key is off Ryland. The store has a large variety of key items, remotes, chains, along with a large inventory of gun and jewelry safes. The guys who work here are so friendly and knowledgeable. Customer service seems to be their number one priority. I talked with the gentleman who was making our remote head key. We talked about how in the old days my dad would do business on your word and a handshake. He said that is how it should be. My husband asked about how many remote head keys you could have. They looked the information up and gave us the answer. My husband had a couple of other questions to which they looked up and made sure that the information they were giving was accurate. How awesome is that. After cutting the key another gentleman grab some cable electronic looking device to take the new remote head key out to program. As you can tell this was not your average key and not your average service. When the guy came back he asked if we needed anything else. So my husband lost one of our key fobs. A key fob is a key that goes to a push-to-start car ignition. You only have to have the key on your body to start the car and drive. Hence they are very handy to have, but expensive to replace as it runs off of an electronic code. The Nissan dealership would replace this for $310.00 plus tax. I decide to try to save money and stopped by Alpine Lock and Key. I came in Monday at 11:30am and met Shawn. Shawn said they could recode a new key fob, but they would need to order it from their supplier. The cost would be $190.00 for cutting the key, the fob and recoding it. Wednesday morning I got a call from Shawn letting me know my key fob was here. I called back and asked how long it would take to recode it, and was told 15-20 minutes. I called back and said that I'd stop by tomorrow morning. Work was cancelled, so I decided to stop in. Shawn went out and started to work on the car with some assistance from Mike. Jerad put me in there computer so I was on file for next time. Shawn was having some issues with the car, so it was like 25 minutes before I was done, which was very reasonable as I didn't have an appointment and they were busy. I heard they give a military discount, as my husband is a Veteran, and Jerad applied that to my total. $175.00 later and I was out the door. The new fob looks exactly the same and works perfectly. I will definitely be back for any key issues! Everyone I met at Alpine were kind, friendly and professional. So not only did I get amazing service, they were also really nice to chat with while I waited. Aliping Lock and Key also carries gun safes, and can cut regular keys, and replace house locks. Their parking lot is tiny, so drive slowly on Ryland or you may miss the building and have to make a U-turn. read more
