I was grossly overcharged. I attempted to try to resolve this with the company, but the company stopped responding to me after I requested a breakdown of how much I was charged. (I was prompted for payment by Venmo, which was in retrospect a red flag - it was not processed as a payment for services as required by Venmo, and this left me without the ability to contest the charges.) The technician himself was nice, but the company knowingly sent out to somebody who was not able to do the job. About two weeks ago, I sent the following message, and I followed up again to ask if they would respond but again, no response: ******** I believe I was significantly overcharged. I have asked for a breakdown of the fees charged several times but haven't been able to get it from you. I was charged $592 for services. Three locks were re-keyed, and a door handle was installed. Assuming $75 for service call +35 to replace a knob plus $25/ea to rekey - the total charge should be $75+35 +25(3) = $185. I called ahead to ask if the locksmith could install a lockly smartlock for me. I was assured that he could. The locksmith was unable to get it to function properly. At the end of the second time the locksmith came out, he told me he didn't have experience with the type of lock provided. Instructions were available. My handyman was able to correctly install the lock in under an hour; his rate is $55/hour. The handyman noted that the locksmith did not insert the magnetic lockplate that was necessary for the lock to function. Based on what I understand to be average charges for doorknob replacement, rekeys, and service calls, it looks like I was charged over $400 for the unsuccessful installation attempt. We thought when we needed him the most that he would pull through but boy were we wrong. From the beginning it seemed like he didn't wanna be there and help. I get it's Father's Day and it's the weekend. But don't sign up and help people if you're gonna have an attitude helping others when they need help the most. Not only that but somewhere along the line he misheard something that he didn't like and proceeded to mess with the ignition wire before he left and now he's holding the car hostage. We were going back-and-forth messaging each other and come to find out he's the only one who can start my car because of what he did before he left. In the time I've lived in Sparks, I've been locked out of my residence 4 times. Each time, my landlord sent a locksmith. All of them were shoddy conmen, charging highway robbery rates. I chose this one myself on my most recent lockout. Before I continue, it's important that I point out that when it comes to this field, I am not an uneducated layman. I actually do know how to pick locks and other access techniques, more than most people. Of course, locksmiths that are in the ripoff business presume people don't know anything about the service, and that's how they take advantage. My experience with this service was phenomenal. Tim did a great job fixing my issue and getting me back in. He is the first locksmith I've ever tipped. Very friendly, professional and prompt, clean cut, skilled. Also, the pricing was transparent, no bait and switch. Also, for anyone that knows anything about lockpicking, Tim is also the first and only locksmith I've ever called that started with a Lishi instead of jumping straight to "oh no I have to drill out your lock, so now instead of the $30 you were quoted it's now $40 trillion. So I put in yelp for a key replacement quote. This guy responded to us immediately. His price was $20 cheaper for a spare key, also $30 cheaper for a key with remote built-in than 'Lowpricekey'. He has a Mobil Van and he met us on a side street. He was very polite, professional and friendly as well. It took less than five minutes for the locksmith to copy the key and program the car with both keys. With having five children driving now. We lose a lot of keys, or buy cars that only have one key so it's necessary for us to have a key replacement. Are used the other locksmith company for almost 10 years, but suddenly their prices shut up. Nice to have a new locksmith that understands and our needs and willing to give us a good price. Arranged for them to change our locks. They dispatched a young man to do the job. He arrived, inspected the locks we needed done, and got started. Sadly, our lock was a smart door lock that couldn't be re-keyed. Given that that door was our main priority, we had to decline the work since it could not be fixed (we need to buy a whole new handle/key). This was an exception type of situation because normally there will be a cancelation fee if you decline service, which they understandably charge to cover the costs of trip and labor.
