Alpine is within walking distance of my house so it's super convenient, which is great. I came here on a whim last summer just to walk through and see what they had... though I needed a container for repotting. They have a great selection of both indoor plants and garden variety plantings. The staff members I did interact with were very friendly. My only complaint is that I wish it were larger, I love walking through the greenhouse just being near all the plants. I did find what I was looking for, and a few things I wasn't, and ultimately, yes, they're a bit pricier on some things than your big-box chain stores, but honestly, I'd rather that. Local nurseries are dying and I'm happy to help keep this one thriving. read more

Huge depot with lots of variety of both indoor and outdoor plants. It also sells pottery, decor, nursery, and other misc items that should go well with the plants. Definitely a good place to go for plants and/or nursery items and/or replacements. Came here in the summer and there were lots of mosquitoes outdoors and i got bit a lot. Absolutely outrageous pricing and a total waste of time. I stopped by Alpine Nursery in mid-July--well past peak planting season--just looking to pick up a few filler plants for my garden. I have a large pot of basil in my backyard that's gotten a bit leggy, so I figured I'd check if they had any leftover herbs. Sure enough, I found a whole section of basil--about 100 small starter plants in 4-packs. No prices posted, but it's basil... how expensive could it be? I also grabbed two small pots of impatiens, clearly marked at $4.99 each, and spotted a decorative glass garden ornament I liked for $45. When I got to the counter, the cashier told me, "I'm sorry, I can't sell you the basil like that." No explanation. Just that they supposedly had other basil plants elsewhere in larger pots. After a bit of back and forth, he said, "Fine, they'll be $3.99." That seemed high but manageable--about $1 per plant. Then he rang everything up and casually announced the total: over $100. I immediately questioned it. Two 4-packs of basil, two impatiens, and one $45 ornament should never total $100. That's when he explained: each tiny basil plant in the 4-pack was $3.99. That's $16 for a single 4-pack of basil--something you'd pay $3-5 for anywhere else. It was absurd. Not to mention, other small plants like pothos--half the size of typical starter plants--were marked at $15+. At that point, I put my card away, left everything on the counter, and walked out. I've purchased from Alpine Nursery in the past, and they do have a nice selection. But this level of price gouging? I'm done. If you're going to grow plants you have no intention of selling at a fair price, label them "Not for Sale." But if you are going to sell them, don't jack up the price to absurd levels and expect customers to just eat it. You lost a local customer for life. read more

From April 2020 during the pandemic!... My local nursery with lots of plants available since even early in season! Beautiful flowers set up in wagon carts on the street that greet you. Lots of types of soil available in cubic feet bags or bulk. Warehouse has lots of fertilizers, pest control knick knacks, pots, tools, etc... just walk in & hopefully you find something you may need! Staff are helpful & knowledgeable. I really enjoy supporting locally & giving my garden what it needs at a few minutes drive. read more

I LOVE this place. Omg what a gem! I popped by here during the holidays in dire need of some decent potting soil and not patient enough to order online. Not only did they have an excellent choices of potting soil but a fabulous selection of pots. I also left with a beautiful poinsettia and the owner was kind enough to help me pick a beautiful pot and add a bow. They also sell Christmas trees and beautiful wreaths and everything there looked super healthy. I poked around and also noticed that they had a lot of things I can never find at Lowe's or Home Depot (ex: mosquito bits for killing fungus gnats). I can't wait to go back. Note: they're closed January and February so go now! (Oh and they have free and ample parking just across the street) read more

The women taking money INSIDE is not wearing a mask. I asked her why and she said she left it home. I said she shouldn't be allowed to work without a mask on and she said the owner doesn't wear a mask. He wasn't there today, I know who he is. She then asked me to come around behind the counter to put in my pin because the pin pad couldn't reach the counter. I said "absolutely not YOU'RE NOT WEARING A MASK!" She says "how about I come out from behind the counter and then you come around?" Never mind, I'm going to Lowe's. COVIDIOTS. Never going back. This is why mom and pop businesses lose out to big box. The staff does not wear masks and speak rudely to each other. I witnessed a family buying poinsettias and a rude lady behind the counter (not wearing a mask) wouldn't ring them up and was barking orders for another man to do it. Meanwhile, she was doing nothing. Trees are way overpriced and half dead. Lowe's is a better option. read more

Can't say enough good things about this place. We left another bigger, more well known place nearby disappointed and genuinely confused about their absurd pricing. Called Alpine because I happened to click their dot on the map first. Not only did they have exactly what we needed, which had proven hard to find over the prior weeks, but the pricing was extremely fair. Alan (sp?) was so hospitable and has a friendly, helpful team. I decided that Sunday was a great day for attempting to plant things - googled garden store and found this place was only a mile from my house - perfect. Upon arriving, I asked for help finding things I was less likely to kill and they were super helpful. Helped me pick out some nice flowers for the back, hardy veggies I might be able to successfully grow (key word might), and even planted my basil for me since I told them how unsuccessful I've been in the past. Service was great, prices were decent and selection appeared abundant (from a black thumb type - so who knows). I would certainly return - hopefully not until next Spring though - the goal is to keep what I bought alive :) read more

It is hard to find help because some of the staff do not speak English. The owner ended up helping me and he picked some nice plants as I am not familiar with starting a garden. He was knowledgeable and knew exactly what would be good for me. The poor rating I'm giving is because of his wife that was very rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. She is NOT a people person and should stay behind the scenes. I don't think I will ever go back to an unappreciative business owner. A rude employee is one thing but as an owner shame shame on her! read more

Of all the nurseries in the area, this one is by far the best. Great inventory. Healthy plants. Reasonable prices. Good service. The owner is a straight shooter, tells you exactly what it is, but is VERY knowledgeable and gives you the best information to get the most of your plants. I bought tomatoes & watermelon plants that did amazing last summer. Also bought a fig tree for my mom and dad that produced a TON of sweet figs. Just yesterday I bought 7 beautiful blueberry bushes for my yard. He gives great direction on how to care for them & makes sure you get exactly what you need.
