This Home Depot is the closest to me so it's convenient when I need hardware or gardening supplies. The garden department is probably what I use most and they have a wide variety of plants, fertilizer, soil, etc. The prices are lower than what you would pay at a garden shop so it's a good value. You can also rent tools at this location which I have done in the past. It's convenient and saves money. The tools were in good shape and I was satisfied with the rentals. This location has a huge parking lot and can get very crowded on weekends. Sometimes finding store employees can be a challenge which seems to be the usual at all Home Depot's. Checking out can be a hassle at times as well. Sometimes it seems like there isn't enough cashiers and the lines can back up. Overall this is a good location. read more

Delivery notification service needs much improvement. I purchased a dishwasher and was told that someone would call me the night before the scheduled date to give me my delivery window. No one called. I happened to go on my computer at 6:30 p.m. the night before and saw that I had been scheduled for delivery between 1:30 and 5:30. On the delivery date I signed onto my computer at 10:00 a.m. and read a message saying that the delivery truck was 2 stops away. There was no direct communication regarding the delivery time and the written communication had totally conflicting information. THIS IS NO WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS. read more

My experience here was absolutely awful. I was double charged on my purchase, over $2000, and no one would follow up with me and tell me what the status of the cancellation was. I had to call several times and was outright ignored. I had to come in person and demand confirmation that the extra $2000 was going to be refunded. I just had the worst experience with a designer in the kitchen design department. She was in bad mood and defensive even before I started speaking with her. We are all human and allowed to have an off day but this was my second interaction with her and she was the same last time. It's sad...a little kindness goes a long way. Home Depot always has a wide variety of cleaning products. (During Covid, HD was a life saver because the other stores were all out of cleaning products). Also, I purchase cactus potting soil here. It's cheaper than local plant shops. At this time, HD has a lot of Christmas wreaths available. Of course, HD has all kinds of do it yourself home projects. Today, Home Depot customer service was excellent. Sometimes it's hit or miss. The store is open seven days a week. Home Depot has a very large parking lot. read more

Tianna the "cashier" was asked if someone was going to assist with ringing up merchandise. She walked over to me scanned my items then walked right away without words. I then asked was that? She responded "all you have to do is insert your card" with a sarcastic noise after. She then repeated again with the same noise. I then ask her name and finished checking MYSELF out. II'm giving this Home Depot a 5 only because.. my husband was there the other day and some how while paying he lost his wallet. When he went back to the register the cashier stated she did not see it. So about 35 minutes later I called and they stated they had it. When the cashier was closing her register she noticed the wallet on the floor behind her station. Thankfully she turned it in. My husband tried to give her money and she wouldn't take it. I only come here on Sundays alone to escape Bergen County Blue Law where require not only major store be closed, but the ones that are open suppose to not sell items like socks. I only once saw this enforce. That said the Home Depot carry about 90% of the same items as the next one. So only thing that makes a differences is the Management and of the store if they wish to add additional items to the electrical, kitchen or bath area. Or the Employees take care of the plants in the garden center by watering them. I found they have a good garden, electrical and flooring center here. And the self checkout helps as long as every item is bar coded. read more

Only go here for supplies. Not the place for custom orders. Every Bali and Levlor blind In my home was purchased from Home Depot online or in store. While shopping for cleaning supplies, I decided to have a team member order my blind. I approach the desk, the 2 people there inform me the blind expert left for dinner and won't be back for an hour. I've ordered this blind before, so why can't I find it. The company changed the style name. The team member handed me the keyboard to place the order. It's unfair to the staff and customers to not have knowledgable team members in custom order areas. Stroll over to the fan section and it's the old models. Go to customer service to place an online order for a newer model fan that should be in the store. Woman at customer service ask me, if it was on the shelf. If it was I would be in the check out lane. A new team member decided to help me and it took longer than it should have. I was patient, at least he was willing to learn and not walk away. I bought a dishwasher to be delivered. I wanted installation and removal. I paid for both. I paid for extra parts needed for the installation. They gave me a date for delivery and install. The company showed up, dropped off the dishwasher and the parts. And a 3x5 card with instructions on who I should contact to arrange a delivery appointment. Huh? Fine. So I call this third company and schedule a second visit a few days later. They have no record of me paying for the dishwasher removal however. That requires an extra SKU and it's not on the order. It seems it got lost in the big game of Order tag that I am now participating in. I also get to have a big dishwasher box in my condo for a few days while I work with yet another company on an appointment. FAIL. I understand Covid makes things difficult. Store was decent and stocked. Came in looking for a light bulb and wireless doorbell. Plenty of options to choose from although the "Ring" billion dollar company had no inventory here besides an empty cardboard display. Didn't see any stock in the overhead storage bins either. Got our bulb and settled on a Honeywell wireless bell/chime thanks to a very pleasant associate pointing us in the right direction. Upon self checkout the overhead associate yelled out for me to press a button when I was confused for a moment with the error on the screen. She was pleasant and smiled as I thanked her for her unexpected quick assistance. Upon exiting another associate cheerfully belted out "get your umbrella for $4.97 right here folks". At first I looked at him like " ok dude leaving on this sunny day - don't need an umbrella". Surprise surprise I walked out into a torrential downpour. Ahh now I feel you kind sir. I'm not a HD regular, but today quickly reminded me that my sour attitude after watching my father stare at bulbs for 15 mins did not warrant me taking it out on the store or its staff. They were pleasant here unlike my experiences at other locations. Kudos kind folks. A warm fuzzy environment was never part of the repertoire from the day HD opened its doors. However this store made my day brighter when it quickly turned dark and gray. I certainly would shop here more often in the future! HD corporate - these associates are great. Would not recommend booking a truck rental from Home Depot. We booked a 10' box truck for a great price but they canceled our rental less than 2 hours before the move and the only notice we received was an email. This was after another home depot canceled our truck rental (that was made weeks in advance) just 12 hours before our move. We were unable to reach anyone at the facility even after sitting on hold for almost an hour the morning of our move and had to scramble to find an available truck (with uhaul) and drive 45 minutes to get it. Very upsetting experience, definitely use uhaul from the get-go if planning a move. read more

I have been coming to this Home Depot for over 10 years because it's close and convenient. The staff here never seems to be helpful and most of them never smile or give off that inviting feeling. So not unless you track one down and I ask, you are pretty much on your own. They are either underpaid or they have a manager that just likes to micromanage and make them all miserable. Either way, some serious revamping needs to be done and it seems like that is the consensus across each HP. Lowes has them beat by miles. They normally have someone greeting you as you enter and the staff interacts genuinely with their clientele. They also have a better selection of items. HP please take a page from Lowes and maybe just maybe you guys can start turning things around. read more

This HD is constantly busy and has the same issues as other HD's. No one is available if you need help. Staff is constantly in groups but unwilling to help. If you ask for help they get annoyed... I truly wish the local Hardware Store makes a comeback and puts these places out of business. Their prices are decent but if you catch a good sale at Lowes you can score. I live in Upper Montclair, NJ. Home Depot Clifton does not have good delivery service. I ordered a Magic Chef washing machine (24-inch, which is difficult to find) as part of a Black Friday special. I put my purchase through online and it went quickly. I was pleased about that, but everything else after was a travesty. Not only were my inquiries regarding specific delivery and installation options not acknowledged, but the delivery itself was done illegally in terms of Montclair, NJ laws. Not only was there no communication, but the machine was placed in front of the garage in front of a car. In the process, there was visible damage to the box, suggesting underlying damage. While efforts to contact Home Depot on a national level were successful, efforts to contact the Clifton store where the machine was purchased were unsuccessful, despite intervention efforts from the national customer service line. So now I have a damaged machine, illegally placed, no one to speak with, and an awful experience. I'm trying to return it. I should have gone to Sears. No more Home Depot ever. read more

Just bought our first home and naturally we practically live in Home Depot now and of course we've been to every location. However the Clifton location has become our go to on Sundays since Bergen County is closed. I have to say this will now become my only go to Home Depot just because of the excellent workers who work there. Every time I'm there the staff will flag you down or stop and ask if you need assistance compared to other locations or Lowe's where you have to haunt people down just to ask a question. On today's visit I was in an isle looking around for help and the lady in the appliance section saw me came up to me and said I saw that your looking for help I just paged someone to assist. I legit had to look around to make sure I wasn't being pranked. You mean you offered help without me asking? Now that's what I call above & beyond! Kudos to the entire team there. read more

You wait forever for someone to come and help you. I asked one person, they made a PA announcement and no one showed up. Several workers passed me and I asked for help, and they said that they'd call someone. 40 minutes later, went to pro desk and they called someone. They sent me to customer service. Customer service then took forever and the lady that I originally asked for help, was working at customer service, yet she never called anyone until I showed up there. 1hr later from original arrival, they lowered the door I needed from the second level. If you can order online, do it. What a waste of employees and their time management. Go somewhere else if at all possible. Some other customer service rep helped immediately and Ricky came to the rescue after waiting another 15 minutes. read more

The worst Home Depot. The sales staff don't know the difference between a hammer and a screwdriver. Only one checkout line is ever open. They added self service check out lines that either take cash only or credit only so you'll have to wait depending on which method of payment you are using. That's also if they are working. Was there today with one register open and a line the cashier asked if the customer wanted to sign up for a credit card and he said yes. They do it right there on the computer which takes about 10 minutes while everyone else on the line had to wait. The cashier girl asked another worker if they can open another line to which he said no. Please feel free to go to this store if your idea of fun is waiting in line. read more

I went to this Home Depot on 10/25/2020 to purchase a dryer. I found one I liked and a nice woman in the department helped me. The earliest delivery date was Friday, November 6th. I also paid extra to have it delivered, set up and have them take the old dryer away. The delivery drivers got to my house at 920am and they brought the dryer in. The guy said he wasn't hooking it up because we didn't meet the requirements. My husband measured everything and tried to show the guy that everything was the way it should be. The guy refused to do it unless we paid him!!! My husband told him to get out and that we already paid to have it installed! They left without installing or taking the old dryer. I called Home Depot and they had no information. They called the warehouse and they couldn't get in contact with the drivers. They said they would refund me the installation and removal. We will see if that actually happens. I don't know what kind of people you hire. It's disgraceful. read more

This local Home Depot in Clifton NJ, has to be one of the most organized and easy accessible Home improvement stores around!!!! It has 3 drive way entry and exit points. 3 store enry and exit points. The entries provide the consumer with direct access to, customer service/returns, tool rental and self checkout. This HD always has Shopping carts next to the entry's as well as lumber and utility carts. I was very please that the departments were very clean and accessible. The associates will always go out of their way to assist you in any project your working on. All in all I will always be a customer to clifton Home Depot, on behalf of everything I listed. Terrible customer service. There was one item left in the aisle, box was all ripped apart and taped up. The lady in the aisle advised that since it was in such bad shape, that we would be able to receive a small discount at checkout. The cashier was fine, however, Ervin, front end manager, was quite rude and said that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the product inside and couldn't do anything for us.
