This bakery is great. I used to go to Park Bake Shop in Kings Park and had a terrible experience. I finally found a great bakery and won't go anywhere else now! Amazing baked goods! I go here every time I have a family or friends event and always pick something up from here to bring! Their desserts are incredible! Last time I picked up an Oreo cheesecake which was the first thing to go at my family holiday gathering. I've been patronizing Alpine bakery for over 25 years. Always the best and the freshest of baked goods. Birthdays, christenings, weddings,graduations etc. with 7 children and 17 grandchildren we always had an occasion to celebrate and have one of Alpine delicious cakes and baked goods. During the Christmas holiday my husband orders about 10 of the pregnant cannoli for family and clients. With all that being said, today I decided to take a ride from east Setauket where we now live after moving from St. James And decided to pick up one of the strawberry shortcakes that we all love so much. When we arrived home we could not wait to open the box. I served my husband and myself a nice piece and as I was eating it, the cake was not fresh, the whip cream did not taste right and the strawberries were not right. I was indeed so disappointed and did not eat the rest of my piece. I will be calling them in the morning to let them know how dissatisfied I am. This is the FIRST time that this happened to our family. That is why I gave them only 4 stars. I'm sure this does happen and I do understand that. But I will call and speak with the manager tomorrow. Hopefully this can be corrected. I did visit Alpine bakery with the cake and my receipt. Although they did take the cake to the back and cut it into several pieces and came back to tell me it was fine, the did give me 12 mini pastries to take home in exchange.. so even though they felt the cake was fine, which you could clearly see was not by the separation in the whipped cream, they did do the right thing without a hassle. Alpine typically has the best cookies and pastries around. Yes they are pricey, but I would rather pay a little extra and get the quality. I did buy a bad cream puff the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. It was soggy and the cream filling tasted like a pastey mess. Well.. I guess you can't be perfect! Pastries here are delicious, tastes like old traditional Italian baking! Decent prices, $3.50 for larger pastries, cakes range about $25-$30. Pastries are fresh most of the time. A little disappointed today because I've been coming here for a few months and today, everything shrank about 30%. The cupcakes did not overfill their plastic boxes anymore, the individual slices of rainbow layer cake was nowhere be to be found...because they were so short they hid in the display pans, cannoli looked smaller too. The whole rainbow layer cake also looked smaller...not sure about their other whole cakes but I'm a little sad my sweet tooth got sold short today. read more

Best bakery in Suffolk county. I have gotten baked goods from here for years and have NEVER been disappointed! The freshly baked pies are my personal favorite; especially the blackberry. So light and crisp on the outside with the crumbled topping is so ooey gooey deliciousness on the inside! Cakes you order are rarely fresh and cost phenomenally more than the they should! Ordered a simple red velvet square cake for 20 people. Paid over $100 and was the dryest cake I've ever tasted in my life! My guests were already eating it when I realized it wasn't even close to eatable- easily a week or more old- as if they made it the day I ordered it. Then another time, gave gave them a second chance - mold inside the cake! Disgusting! Never again! Love all the fresh delish cakes from Uncle Gisuppes right next door! Horrible wedding experience. The woman brought out frosting types in Dixie cups and forgot what flavor each one was. Once we put in the order for our wedding cake it took forever. I called 2 times if they got the picture of the cake and the balance on the cake and each time they were super rude. And then the cake it self was gross. No one liked it and it was embarrassing. My family loves Alpine we get all our cakes for every special occasion. And we do that bc you get what you pay for an awesome cake that looks and taste like heaven! But our last cake was a BOMB:(. It tasted great but looked like my 9 yr old made it. I had a Peppa Pig themed cake done for my 3 yr olds bday. I brought in 3 pictures of what I wanted was asked specific questions and gave specific answers. I was heart broken when my cake looked like a joke this is not what I pictured my my little girls special day and certainly not for the amount that I paid! After complaining when I picked it up about how unhappy I was they told me they thought it looked good and offered to reimburse me $18. For the picture they scanned for the cake. I hate to stop coming here for our traditional occasion cakes but if they don't invest in some newer cake techniques and decorators that take pride in there work we will never come back. I have been coming here for 13 years have been more then pleased with birthday cakes christening, communion, and every other milestone in my kids lives.
