Alpine Pastry Shoppe has been a staple in my family for years--every holiday you can imagine and even for those random "just because" moments. A coworker recently asked me to bring back some cookies since she knew I was flying home to New York. When she said she wanted good quality cookies, I already knew exactly where I was headed: Alpine. Every time I walk into this place it somehow feels like the first time. Maybe it's the nostalgia from going there with my family for so many years, or maybe it's because it's still family-owned and truly has that warm, welcoming vibe. The people who work there are always so sweet, accommodating, and kind, which just adds to the experience. When anyone brings up rainbow cookies, Alpine is honestly the first place that comes to mind for me. They're the only ones I really go to for them. For my coworker, I picked up a pound of assorted cookies so she could try a little bit of everything. Selfishly, I was definitely thinking I should've ordered a box for myself too! She absolutely loved them, which came as no surprise. If you want truly great Italian cookies and pastries, Alpine Pastry Shoppe is the only place that comes to mind for me. I'm so happy to see that they're still open, and I truly hope they remain a neighborhood staple for many years to come.
Came here to pick up a few items for a birthday party and everything was great. We got the cannoli chipwich cake, rainbow cookie cupcake, cookie butter cupcake and some other assorted cookies. Everything was very tasty and very fresh. Staff was super friendly and quick. There is a large selection of different items and everything was both clean and presentable. Would absolutely come back.
If you're from Long Island, you probably already know Alpine Bakery. And if you don't... this is your sign to go. This family-owned spot has been a go to in Smithtown forever, and it's where my family gets cakes and pies for pretty much every holiday. Birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter ... Alpine is just part of the tradition. You walk in and instantly feel like you're in a classic neighborhood bakery that's been doing things right for years. The selection is huge! Cakes in every flavor, cookies, pastries, pies, crumb cake, cheesecakes .... basically anything you could want. Everything is packed into the cases, and it's one of those places where you end up grabbing more than you planned because it all looks so good. The jelly donuts deserve their own shoutout. They're honestly incredible. Super soft, perfectly filled, and not overly sweet. If you like jelly donuts, these are a must-m order and worth the trip alone. Service is quick and so friendly, even when it's busy around the holidays. They know what they're doing, they move the line along, and everything comes out consistently great Alpine Bakery isn't fancy or trendy, it's just solid, dependable, and really good. The kind of place you grow up going to and keep coming back to as an adult. If you need a dessert for a holiday, a birthday cake, or just want a really good donut, Alpine is always a safe bet.
Picked up pastries using too good to go. Very spacious bakery with a great variety of options, even on the walls. Some weird line-forming set up that isn't quite clear, but not worth taking a star away. Super great value using too good to go and great way to try pastries I wouldn't have tried before. Will definitely buy stuff from the store regularly
After reading a mix of reviews, I had to try Alpine Pastry Shop for myself--and I'm glad I did. Everything I tasted, from the cookies to the pastries, was absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and efficient, making the experience even better. I noticed some controversy in the comments about the owner selling Trump and Melania cookies. Honestly, it didn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, I respect the owner for standing by his decision, even when some customers expressed outrage--I overheard one man in line saying he wouldn't return because of it. To me, it's just a cookie. I wouldn't be upset if they were selling Biden, Harris, or even Wallz cookies if that's what they chose to do. Some people are always going to be upset about something. But if you're there for quality pastries and solid service, this bakery delivers. I'd definitely recommend giving Alpine a try.
When you go somewhere twice on a trip, it must mean it's a very good thing. It's like heaven when you walk in there. The bakery has anything you could imagine in the way of a cookie, pastry, or cake. I could have got one of everything if it didn't have calories..lol! The kids had vanilla cake pops and I shared a cinnamon cannoli crois-nut with my husband. It was soooooo good! We ended up going back and got a few different kinds of pastries the next day to share with our family. There was a strawberries and champagne cake we split among all of us that everybody enjoyed as well. The staff and service was wonderful when we went both times. They are so helpful and packaged our orders carefully. I will plan to go there if I'm in the area again.
The service is terrible, always a line and the line moves very very slow. I went to place an order, stood on line for about 20 minutes, got to the counter and the lady who took me said you need to wait for the other lady since I don't take special orders, waited another 10 to 15 minutes before I could be helped. I placed my order and then a week later I picked it up, ordered 25 mini carrot cupcakes and several of these cupcakes were on its side so the presentation was not good at all. Will not be returning after years of going here. Disappointed with both the customer service and the presentation of my special order. Will find another bakery for my future occasions.
This review is for a gluten free carrot cake. We have a cousin who can't eat gluten, and who loves carrot cake. My feeling was that the cake was good, not great.
I came to this shop because it was highly recommended to me. I was looking for pastries for my sisters bridal shower. The lady up front was not friendly at all. She rushed me and kept saying "what else" instead of giving me a minute, it being my first time there. She grabbed the cupcakes and ruined their shape, threw them in the box instead of placing them in there so they wouldn't jam up against each other. Her hands were covered in the frosting, that the box is so dirty. Very disappointed as a first time visitor and I'm not sure I'd like to come back.

My family has been coming here since I can remember. Every holiday and birthday has been Alpine. They are always amazing. This year I had cake done for my daughter's Baptism! It was absolutely stunning, delicious and fresh! They did a fantastic job! Outstanding!!! read more

Check in and get one of their gourmet selection of cupcakes on the house! Score! Just a 3.5 for me...Nice location with ample parking. The staff is really friendly and warm too. The cakes and treats on display all looked great but they were just ok on taste. Had a powder sugar engulfed pecan sandies like cookie and it tasted freezer burned and not very buttery at all. Also picked up a whole black out cake and somehow the girl helping me messed up putting the cake into the box and smushed up the writing so it looked like someone else's name on the cake. The cake on the first day was good but by the next day, the cake was mushy, flavorless, dry and crumbly. A bit disappointed but willing to give then another try again soon and re-review. read more
My memories of Alpine date back to when I was a kid. I can remember my mom bringing me here to order our special occasion cakes and bringing delicious baked goods (ie butter cookies, danishes, napoleons, lobster tails, chocolate eclairs, fresh made breads, etc.) With sweet fondness & mouth-watering anticipation, peering through the display cases with such an array of deliciousness really hasn't changed. With time, they've added new fan favorites (ie jelly-filled croissants, raspberry-filled crumb bars, specialty-themed cupcakes, etc.) The quality and goodness of Alpine has truly withstood the test of time. And despite moving a few towns over, I still make the trip for those special favorites that only Alpine makes the BEST and our special occasion cakes made exactly how we want them. read more

I had to score higher because the issue was corrected immediately. I ordered a cupcake cake which was made of 50 cupcakes, and I provided a photo. This cake was for a baby shower. When I arrived, the photo was the size of a postage stamp and the cake was not decorated at all, no flowers, no trim, no nothing. I was about to freak out. I came all the way out from Bay Shore for this. I explained that this was not as expected and the staff offered decorative ideas and fixed the cupcake cake to my liking and saved the day. The three most important people In a person's life; their Baker, their Butcher, & their Bartender. And yes in that order thank you very much. And while I already have My local Bakery, it's always nice to know that whenever I'm visiting Family and Friends on Long Island I can always count on Alpine Pastry Shoppe for all of My Favorite Holiday Baked Goodies. Seriously this is without question one of the best Pastry Shops around and the line out the door will tell you all you need to know about this place. Webster's dictionary describes "Goodies" as something attractive or desirable especially something tasty or pleasant to eat. Sounds about right to Me. Finally listened to good friend Lou and got over to Alpine Pastry. Just south of 25A in Smithtown tucked into an Uncle Guiseppe's market strip center Alpine has been serving the community for decades. If passing through worth a stop for delicious Italian pasties with real cannoli and custard. Also old fashioned fig cookies something I can never pass up. The yelp check in gave me a surprise Gourmet Cupcake which were hard to choose from. All a bit fun looking but went with the crazy Oreo chocolate for my Oreo loving friend. Nicely kept cases. Good variety. Active. Good number of people behind the counter even on a weekday. Enjoyed this place. read more

Alright pastries. The shop was cute and inviting, the staff was helpful, and the place was clean. It was very busy also. I think the pastries were on the dry and crumbly side as well as the creams. The best thing I ate was the almond cookies. I'd go back for those. read more

Stopped in for my first time in New York, I've been dying to get my hands on a lobster tail, and boy was I happy. I recommend leaving it out at room temp before you enjoy so the pastry stays soft and flaky; absolutely delicious. They were very careless; left a small thin plastic piece INSIDE the cake I bought as a present for my grandma. I bought it for her for mothers day and she called me and raved about how great it was so I thought maybe I had a new go-to bakery to get her surprise Doordash orders with, but when I came to visit a few days later and she shared what was left of the cake with me over tea then that quickly changed. Luckily the plastic (it looked like a broken off leg of a decoration?) was in the one slice she gave me when I visited, and not in any of the ones she ate, and I seen before eating, otherwise she would have had a trip to the ER. Although she still enjoyed the cake, it was absolutely horrifying to me to think that I could have lost her over a present I gave her. I recommend using another bakery. read more
Family owned bakery, here for 30 years. The pastries are beautiful & taste even better than they look. We've regularly ordered custom cakes that are reasonably priced & special. I'm addicted yo their Florentine pastry & my husband just loves the freshly prepared cannolis & chocolate chip cookies. No Florentine pastries & staff & customers aren't wearing masks. We recently ordered a three tier (woodland animals theme) Baby Shower cake at Alpine Bakery. Karin (decorator) met with us beforehand. She listened to our requests, made suggestions, and took our detailed order. We chose a "tuxedo" cake (2 layers vanilla, one layer chocolate cake) with lobster cream and chocolate mousse fillings. It was not only DELICIOUS, but BEAUTIFULLY decorated! The cake topper pieces we provided were perfectly placed, and the artistic, colorful designs 'painted' atop the buttercream perfectly matched our invitation and woodland animals theme. We also very much appreciated that Alpine delivered the large cake to our party venue - Mezza Luna in Hauppauge. We highly recommend Alpine Bakery and cake decorator Karin for delicious, beautifully prepared, and creative desserts! read more

There aren't many pastry shops in the area. I've ordered from here a few times and haven't had any issues! I'd recommend the Nutella cronut and carrot / red velvet cupcakes, and cannolis The rainbow cake pop and apple pastry were mediocre. I would not get the cookies. They're super dry and hard - I don't know if it was because they were stale or just like that. I had to throw them out. read more

This place has been a Long Island staple for as a long as I can remember. I have friends and family that come from several towns away to go here as well. This is a superb bakery with a huge assortment of cakes, cookies, pies and more. I honestly have trouble picking something, because everything looks great. Sometimes I just buy too much, and later regret that I will be putting on 10 lbs after my visit here. PROS: The place is so good! All the pastries are amazing, it's hard to know where to start. They fill the cannoli while you wait, so no more mushy shell from sitting in the display case. This is key to a good cannoli. Selection is great. You can tell everything is fresh, as soon as you walk in. You're hit with a pleasing aroma of sugar and fresh baked cookies/pies. My personal favorites. Cannoli Cheesecake, Regular Cheesecake, Cannoli with chocolate chips on the ends, Big cookies with chocolate sprinkles on them, and probably more. CONS: It can get expensive fast. Service can be chaotic and disorganized, even when it doesn't need to be. I was the only customer in there and another person came in behind. Despite having 5 people behind the counter, she waited 10 minutes. They couldn't figure out which register to use, and who was supposed to be doing what. It was a little concerning, considering I've seen lines out the door. Glad it wasn't busy. MY QUEST: Many years ago they had these thin GREEN cookies shaped like a leaf or tree. They had chocolate on 1 side. They are now impossible to find anywhere, and when you can find them, they have been replaced with a thicker, more chalky version of the same cookie. (Note, these cookies also come in a pink version, but green is where it's at) If you know where I can find the THIN, GREEN leaf cookies with chocolate, please message me, Yelpers! Alpine Bakery had always been my go to place for cakes, pastries and cookies. But last evening I stopped there for a birthday cake for my brother in law and wound up with a cake that had fourth grade handwriting and first grade spelling. Who writes like this on a cake from an upscale bake shop? Who misspells birthday on a cake? I was embarrassed to say the least. I would have brought it back but they closed already. Ordered a few mini pastries from Alpine for Valentine's Day. I found the prices to be a little high for mini pastries. Not much flavor from the pastry craam. Napolean was not crispy. Mini fruit tart not much flavor. Visually nice looking though. read more
