Lana is hands down the most efficient person I have worked with. I called her on Wednesday and a few hours later, we met in person. I provided my budget, apartment specifications and she showed me about five places all within my price range and needs. I wasn't expecting so many apartments to view, but thanks to how quickly she can pull things together, I was able to make my decision. That Wednesday I was able to submit an application and the very next day I was approved! Today, I met my new landlord, signed the lease and that was it! The process was incredibly easy, smooth and comfortable. I didn't feel pressured or rushed to make a choice or fall in love with any place specifically. I called their offices in hopes of finding a new place in Bay Ridge. When I said that I wanted 2 bedrooms and that I had a cat, the lady immediately cut me off and said she didn't have any pet friendly apartments. Then she said "Ok? I'll call you if something becomes available. Goodbye!" Very rude. She didn't give her name either. I know that brokers have to do very hard tasks such as: walking, holding keys, texting while you're trying to view a place, unlocking doors, lying about how great a place is, and......well that's all they do, but still. She could've been nicer. I will never call this place again. read more

I was looking for an apartment in Bay Ridge, and walked into this agency right off 86th Street. I was very honest with the realtor about the fact that I have a pet, and wouldn't give it up. He said that's no problem, showed me an apartment, which I ended up taking. However, when it was time to meet the owner of this apartment that I wanted to rent,, I found out that this owner did not want any pets, and was adamant about it. The agent and the owner of the real estate pleaded with the owner of the building, but to no avail. Anyway, here I was, no apartment, and ready to move. The agent I worked with now showed me another apartment, higher than my price range, and not including utilities, which I requested be included.Due to the fact that I was immediately ready to move into the previous apartment ( all moving arrangement made, postal changes, etc.), I ended up taking the second apartment , but felt I was rooked. My beef with this agency is how the whole issue with my pet was handled. The agent told me it would be no problem, and when it came down to the wire, it was. Is this person so commission hungry that he lied? Hoped he could convince the owner of the apartment otherwise? Anyway, I would never deal with Alpine again after this incident. The whole thing now feels like it was a bait and switch situation, so the broker. could get a fatter sales commission. read more

Based on my experience working with Anita I would absolutely not recommend this company. I am a single mom of 2, who was moving to Bay Ridge, and put down a deposit on an apartment. Anita contacted me on the day of the lease signing to say that it had flooded. Obviously not her fault, but then would not refund me the deposit!!! Recently moved back to New York after a protracted stint in the City of Brotherly Love, and stumbled upon Alpine Realty for apartment hunting. I worked with Maria, who is absolutely lovely to talk to and do business with, she found me an absolutely amazing apartment at an amazing price, and the most important part is that it seems the realtors at Alpine have a personal relationship with the landlords/superintendents which leads to a fantastic relationship with them once you move in. Being a New York realty office, I did have to pay a broker's fee (one month's rent), but compared to other realty offices, this is pretty standard. Mostly, though, they found me the perfect apartment, well below market-rate, and put me in a place with a great bunch of people and I know I'm always welcome to bring any issues to them if the landlord or super aren't attending to them. Tried to work with Nik Taneris from Alpine, who I never ended up meeting in person...played phone tag with him, texted back and forth...but he never showed up to the apartments he was supposed to be showing my us. In the first apartment, Nik texted me to just "ring any of the bells or push the door, it's usually open" and to let myself into the unlocked apartment he was showing..(eeek!) and that he'd be right there. The building managers of the 3 apartments I viewed ended up opening the doors...one even scolded me and demanded I call Kevin then and there because she had never been told I was coming. After waiting 30 minutes at the last apartment, we left for another appointment...until Nik started calling and texting to come back and talking up the apartment. Very unprofessional...we ended up going with another broker. This is one broker who does not earn his 12% commission. read more

We have been looking for an apartment for months. We tried several Real Estate agencies such as Ben Bay and Jabbour, but with no luck and terrible, terrible agents who acted as if they were doing us a favor for finding us something decent. So we tried Alpine, because my own parents worked with them way back in the 90's, and we thought, why not? As soon as we spoke to them, we regretted not coming here sooner. The people working in the agency are nice. Unfortunately, they don't properly screen the landlords and don't warn prospective tenants of potential pitfalls. I rented through them from Matina T. at 318 81st St, whose philosophy seems to be that the tenant is responsible for all the expenses of maintaining the apartment. When I asked her to fix a problem with a window, she made an excuse to delay the repair, and after we moved completed the repair and took out the cost from the security deposit. Her reasoning is that the air conditioner in the window did not have the supporting bracket and therefore caused the problem with the window. The fact that she walked past that air conditioner for two years without mentioning that there may be a problem and the fact that an almost exactly the same air conditioner was installed in another window the same way without causing a problem did not matter to her. She just wants to use the tenant's money. The cost of painting the apartment after we moved out was also taken from the deposit, because in her words I had "too much stuff" and therefore must be selling it on ebay, which makes it a "business use" of the apartment. It's just crazy. I could go on, but my point is I was not prepared to deal with someone like that. If I had been warned, I would have taken pictures immediately after moving in and reported all problems immediately and documented them. Not to mention taking pictures of the apartment just before moving out. I recognize that this is a problem with the landlord, but I feel that the agency let me down if they knew what she was like and did not tell me. read more

Urszula at Alpine is the BEST person I've ever worked with in any realm of business. She helped us get a great apartment, and we are likely not the easiest renters to satisfy. She was consistenly friendly, helpful, attentive, professional, and ... well fun! Before we met her we had reached out to a few realtors that were rated highly here on Yelp but they were very slow to get back to us and quite frankly a little cold. Walking by Alpine one night we tried the door, which was locked since it was past closing time, but Urszula was inside and happily invited us in with a smile. She listened to us well then told us she'd get back to us. She did RIGHT away with several nice apartments to view that have the amenities we wanted, and all the while the other realtors at different agencies weren't (and still haven't) calling to show us apartments. 3 nights after having met her we called to see if a place we wanted had replied to our inquiries and since they hadn't she offered to show us one we might like, even though it was late and most other realtors would have locked the doors. We LOVED it and she worked fast to get us set up. We signed the lease yesterday and couldn't be more appreciative of Urszula having treated us like family. read more
