For stop #13 of my 2 month long Hot Dog Adventure, I came to Al's and Tim's Bar and Grill. Their hot dog menu has 10 unique dogs and chose the Tim Dog, an obvious homage to the ownerships Buffalo roots. Deep fried and split and coated in Buffalo Wing Sauce then placed on a toasted bun and topped with grilled jalapeños and cheese; a cup of Blue Cheese dressing is provided for dipping or spreading. A mi9ghty fine offering that I have not seen offered along my journey. Certainly, worth re-ordering but with so many different styles to choose from it will be a difficult decision. $8.99 for all dogs and a side, my crinkle cut fries were adequite but could have spent a bit more time in the fryer. read more

Loved how close this was to my house. I came across a review that said they had the best buffalo wings in KC so of course I had to check it out myself! My husband described the wings as being average but still a good eat. I also ordered fries to go along and they were the ideal classic crinkle fry. Service was great and food came out fast! The staff seemed very friendly with all the customers (seemed like regulars). And even asked if we wanted something to drink while we waited for our to-go wings. The atmosphere I think is where it is at-granted it was slow when we went, but I can definitely see this bar popping at night or sporting events! They had arcade games in this big open room and even electric dart and corn hole. This could easily be a spot we hangout with friends during a chiefs game this season! read more

As soon as I walked in this place I was greeted right away and told to sit at any table. Al's totally reminds me of the old tv show Cheers where it's a homey place where you wanna hangout. Seems like a lot of regulars here where everyone knows your name. I had to order the wings since I've read in numerous places that they were the best and I totally agree. They are so tasty with the right amount of sauce. You have mild, medium or hot to choose from. I got the medium and they were perfect with blue cheese dipping sauce. So good! Also ordered sweet potato fries that were very good. Came with a creamy horseradish sauce. I saw other things on the menu I'd like to try so I'll be back. read more

I've been here several times. Always (and I mean always) i've been greeted by a friendly person behind the bar. For a little dive type bar they have always made me feel welcome. I typically get the buffalo wings to go and they are always good. I also wanted to add, I was in there on a Friday night and 2 young men came in to pick up a to-go order and their card was being declined. They were trying to call home for another card and no one was returning their call. I could tell they were embarrassed and didn't know what to do. What did the bartender do? HE GAVE THEM THE ORDER FOR FREE. He knew the kids weren't trying to scam them and he also knew the food was going into the trash, so he did a good thing and helped a couple kids out. Haven't been here in a few years, came by today for lunch and Al's son was the primary server. He does a great job making you feel welcome, comes by checking on you, calling you bud and giving you a pat on the back. I don't live in Parkville but if I did I would come here for a beer every night. I got the sliders this time, they were good but their wings are what gives life to this hole in the wall. Excellent tenderloin! My husband had the wings and said they were incredible! Staff were super friendly. Food came out quickly and tasted great! The peanut gets all the love and rightly so but Al's is a Cheers like bar that has great food, good prices, and cold drinks. The wait staff is friendly and attentive and the food comes out hot and fast. The wings are what this place is known for and even though they don't have the peanut's size, they arguably as tasty in the classic Buffalo style. It's a local heavy bar so it can get crowded but it's worth going when you're in the area especially if you're a Bills fan. read more

Al's is definitely a favorite 'go-to' spot for us in the Northland. Truly authentic Buffalo Chicken Wings because the owner - Al - is from Buffalo. Mild to hot and nothing fancy, but all crispy/juicy delicious. Another true favorite is the sliders. I think they are even better than the burgers. Thick mini patties on Hawaiian rolls served with a side of you want. French fries are good. Sweet potato fries with horseradish sauce are even better. Patty melts are also incredibly good, but bring an appetite. Fried mushrooms, cheese curds, onion rings! Great bar food in a really happy, friendly location. Al is usually there and a favorite with the customers because he gladly sits down for a visit. If you happen to be there for a Chiefs game, you are in for a treat. Trying to get in at Rancho Grande after a baseball tournament. Long wait. Walked down the way to Al's bar and grill. Man were we glad not to get in to rancho grande. Don't get me wrong. We love RG. Table for 7 we were quickly greeted by a happy and energetic server. She took our drink orders, appetizers and within minutes we had hot apps and drinks. The cook delivered our apps with a smile. Server made some suggestions and we ordered. Tim Dog. 3 baskets of wings and two burgers. Quick, hot and fresh. Burgers were juicy and crinkle cut fries were perfect. Our server kept our water glasses topped off, drinks refilled and very attentive. We've discovered a new spot to eat and drink in Parkville. We stopped by Al's for a football game, because we were told it is a true Buffalo Bills bar. It did not disappoint. The food is good and the drinks are cheap. We're already planning our next trip back! The wings were crispy and well-sauced. We got medium and they had just enough spice. Our server made sure we always had a full pitcher. I've been hearing about the wings at Al's for a while, so we stopped in with a group of 6 last night to try them out. Started with wings for the table. Really good and they went fast. We were all still hungry, and of all things, everyone ordered hot dogs. A couple of people got the corn dogs, two more got the Reuben Dog, one got a Chicago Dog and I got the Philly Dog. When they came, the table was quiet for about 5 minutes as we all dug in and decided these delicious dogs! When we came up for air, everyone was saying how great the dogs were. My party of two had the (breaded pork) tenderloin ( sandwich.) Translation provided for non- midwesterners. We did not seek the obscenely large variety, nor did we want any frufru Sriracha aioli or other such nonsense. We were happy with our crispy tenderloins, served on large fresh buns with all condiments on the side. The sizable fries were crisp outside and tender hot inside. So, I was sitting around the house this afternoon when visions of tenderloins started dancing in my head. So, what better place to go for a good tenderloin than a place that's known for its wings. That's right, I went to AL's Bar & Grill over in the Parkville area tonight. As soon as you walk into this place, the first thing that hits your senses is the vinegar of the wing sauce that they use. That aroma just fills your senses. Alas, the bar was full, I found a tall table to sit at and pretty soon a waitress came by and took my order. I questioned her about the tenderloin. You see, I like my loins just a little bit on the thick side slightly chewy but yet still tender. If there's one thing I do not like in a tenderloin is one that is flattened out to the size of a hubcap and paper thin to me they're tough and tasteless. I went with onion rings instead of the fries. And pretty soon there was a cold beer in front of me and I was waiting patiently for a basket full of food. I did not have to wait long! Soon she brought me a basket full of Golden-Brown Tenderloin with just the right amount of bun overhang. It was probably around 3/8" of an inch thick, fried perfectly. I started to build the sandwich by putting down some lettuce, a few pickles, some tomato, onion, and spread a little mayo on the warm, slightly toasted bun, and finished it off with a healthy squirt of Frenches mustard. Taking a bite, I got a taste of the warm slightly toasted bun with its mayo and the bite of the mustard, then came the crispy crunch of the lettuce and onion, followed by crispy crusty texture of the breading. And then came the tender, savory pork! Heaven on a bun! Hot fresh onion rings all washed down with a cold beer! Well Done Al's Bar & Grill! Well Done Indeed! read more

This is your typical dive bar filled with lots of "regulars". Being a Buffalo girl I had heard this is the place to go for wings and Bills fans. We thought we'd give it a try. Other than a helmet painted on one wall and a smaller one on the door, that was the extent of their visible Bills support.
