The chicken was "real" chicken. It was like chicken you would cook at home. It wasn't the preformed patties or parts that you get. It was very good, tender and very flavorful. They have a "no spice" and it goes from 1-3 stars. There is a wait BUT the chicken is absolutely delicious. The sliders are huge and delicious. The waffles are literally to die for I don't know what else I can say - Wait, the people oh that's the other thing - the owner is very sweet and I think he may have family working there and they're all really sweet. We came in on a Friday evening. It was not very busy, lots of seating available. Bright and clean interior. Did not find service to be friendly or helpful. We got the sliders and the Fried chicken. The sliders were really good, the chicken had great flavor and texture. However the fried chicken was the worst we have ever had. We have been to Nashville and this is not how the fried chicken is. I feel like they battered the chicken the way you would batter fish and chips. The flavor was off and texture was not desirable at all. Decided to order in from Al's hot chicken and we got the sliders and the chicken and waffles. I can't speak to the ambience of the restaurant because it was delivery. I also can't speak to the servers as well. I will say the chicken was hot and delicious. The waffle was outstanding. You could taste the maple and it had pockets of pearl sugar, oh so good. The sliders tasted like they were on a brioche bun, the chicken on the sliders were delicious as well. I do wish there was a little more sauce on the sliders. My complaint about the delivery was the fries.... They tasted old and under season that was really disappointing. I think the next time I'll go into the restaurant and get my food fresh, but I will give them another try.... you should try them too. read more

The customer service was amazing. Everyone was so kind and welcoming, and since we were new customers they even offered us a mac and cheese to try. We really appreciated that thoughtful gesture. The mac and cheese was perfectly cooked with well seasoned pasta and so much flavor. The chicken was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Everything about my experience was awesome. Only ordered a piece of chicken and one waffle. Sat down to eat real quick before grocery shopping and the food was so delish. I got medium spice which was perfect. The team was cool, and all of a sudden the owner decided to give me a couple items that they had made in accident. I took food home and fed the wife. Everyone's happy! 5/5 experience 5/5 food Ambience was 4/5 and ONLY because the music was a tad loud. It was during downtime so I was the only one in the dining room, but if I brought my wife here it may be hard to have a conversation with her. The size of the sliders are huge and I was sure surprised when I opened them up! The chicken was great, perfectly cooked and crispy. The seasoning was very good on the chicken and on the fries. The coleslaw and pickles on the sandwiches were both very good. The service from the young man at the counter at lunchtime today was excellent, he was very attentive and courteous, much appreciated! First time visiting and we were really pleasantly surprised! The comment walking out the door was "wow that was really enjoyable." We tried their combo #1 sandwich and fries, spice level hot, their 4pc leg and thigh, coleslaw, and they threw in a jalapeno Mac n cheese and a waffle to try. Sandwich was HUGE. Had two really large tenders inside, and the level 3 spice was not too terrible, enough to make you sweat slightly but not burn unpleasantly. Crinkle fries looked dark but were crispy on the outside and potato-y on the inside and well seasoned. Spicy fried chicken leg/thigh batter was reminiscent of how a hush puppy might look - smooth and dark instead of with that panko textured crust. Not typical, but still good. Meat was tender and juicy and the spice level was mild. Cole slaw was perfect. Even though it looked creamy, it was light and refreshing, tasted really clean and was a great pairing for the heavier fried chicken. Mac n cheese sauce was kind of like a nacho cheese style, which I actually prefer since it doesn't feel so overwhelmingly cheesy after a few bites. The waffle was more cakey in texture, kind of like a really moist cake donut/biscuit. Taste was good, not too sweet. The honey BBQ sauce was my preferred sauce for the chicken. Overall really great experience and will definitely be back. We have had Dave's and Habibi's hot chicken as a comparison, and I found Al's to be most memorable and enjoyable.
