My girlfriend and I came by one day since we were craving some fried chicken. We got the OG Chicken Strips, Caramel Soy Chicken Strips, and Cajun Fries as a part of a pack deal. I really wanted to like this spot as I want to support small businesses but it didn't hit as much as I wanted it to. The chicken was dry and the breading didn't have much crunch considering its supposed to be korean style chicken tenders. The fries were okay and you could tell they were either selling frozen french fries or they were stale. The sauces were okay. Please at least preserve the chicken's juices as it adds so much to the tenders. read more

I stumbled upon Holdaak in Corona while picking up prints from FedEx in the plaza, and I'm so glad I did! Came here again for lunch and to take advantage of the discount from showing them my Yelp review. I got the #1 combo with the Seoul Spicy and it was only about $11 after the discount. The combo came with a sandwich, fries, and a drink. The gentleman helping me was super nice and got my order ready quickly. Always get the fries seasoned. They taste amazing. The spice isn't too high on the heat and is actually slightly sweet. The Seoul Spicy was always very delicious. The chicken piece inside was huge and had a lot of radish in it as well. We tried this place because we wanted chicken and were semi hungry, too tired to drive with kids so we decided to order via door dash for a late night snack. The order was easy online. The door dash driver waited a bit for it but overall, it was quick to receive the food after ordering. We got the Holdaak original chicken sandwich and popcorn chicken. The sandwich comes with a daikon slaw which added a nice flavor profile to the sandwich of something tangy mixed with pickled onions. Definitely a nice refreshing taste with each bite. The ketchup also had great flavors to it as well, with a hint of spice, which gave it a nice subtle kick. Pairs perfectly with the crispy chicken. The popcorn chicken wasn't as seasoned as I would like it but had a nice crispy texture to it and was fresh. Kids approved and like the crispiness of it. Overall a good late night meal and everything arrived still hot & crispy, which was nice. We'll definitely come through to check out the restaurant in person & try their other items. I was willing to give them another try since my first order with them some months ago lacked the daikon which makes a lot of difference. This time I ordered 10 wings and chicken sandwich. The sandwich is mediocre but when you put the daikon, then it's really tasty. I also ordered 10 pcs chicken wings. For me the soy caramel is too salty than what I'm used to but when I bit into 2 wings it was all bloody. I couldn't eat the rest after smelling the bloody wings! Another lesson learned. Last night me and Amy wife were really craving a buffalo chicken sandwich... so I saw Holdaak the other day and we almost went to Canes.... But ... me and my Wife both have decided that we don't need to go to Canes anymore lol It's a small little spot with a good amount of seating and fun pun filled quotes and lighting. The chairs are really comfortable lol The service was amazing, I honestly have to give props to Cat and Karim.. I made sure to get their names because it was only them two on staff and they were backed up and getting it all done in a timely manner. Karim made sure to let those who came up know what they were out of so they were not disappointed with ordering it then not being able to get it. Th food came out crispy and delicious and where you would typically have accidents with just two on staff on a busy night these two held their own and took care of everyone the best they could. Seriously cheers to the both of you we see you and see how hard your working. The food... the chicken was crispy, the chicken was juicy, the sauces were perfect , fries on point, and honestly WE CANT WAIT TO GO BACK . I love wings and I'm a loyalists but o a place called fire wings but ... I feel like Holdaak will challenge them pretty good. You fulfilled my every craving we had that night . I'll sum this up the best way possible... if you want something that hits better flavor profiles, better sauces, and delicious chicken you no longer need to go to raising cains... I tried the double pattie smash burger and it was wayy better than expected . I've had good HALAL smash burgers (Sign Smash Burger in Orange, CA is a very good example) and this was certainly amongst the top 3 for the SoCal locality. I could tell these guys focused on the quality of the beef. The only small thing I could improve would be to pre-season the fries (they give you plain fries and a small container of dry seasoning to DIY). Will definitely be visiting again. I visited today to place an order and was told it would take longer because they had many orders. I said that was completely fine and waited patiently. While waiting, my daughter called and suggested not to get the Holdaak spicy chicken. Since I was told it would take time, I politely asked if I could change the order. The staff said no because it was "almost done." When I took the food home, my kids (who were fasting) didn't like it, mainly because of the daikon slaw. I returned and politely asked if they could adjust it -- I even offered to pay extra. Unfortunately, I was told no again, and the attitude was very dismissive. I understand policies, but a little hospitality and kindness go a long way. I ended up leaving both orders there. Very disappointed with the customer service read more

Holdaak Fried Chicken is an absolute gem. The restaurant is actually very clean and warm on the inside, and the workers are incredible. The people that work here are all super friendly and kind, and you can tell that they truly care about the individuals coming into the restaurant. The owner of the restaurant, as well as the rest of the workers, made the entire experience even greater. All of this is halal, and it really is some of the best Korean fried chicken I've ever had. The bathroom is also sanitary, always a plus. I came with my parents, and we got to try the Holdaak Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Holdaak Original Chicken Sandwich, Sweet Chili Wings (6 pc), and the Crispy Chicken Wrap. All of which were just super tasty. The chicken was fresh, crispy, and yummy. You would know the quality from every bite. They also serve Salaam Cola, which was a great touch and something that I absolutely love to see. Overall, this place is a must visit. my boyfriend and I wanted to try this spot, we went in and right off the bat, the ordering screen wasn't set up, which that's okay. . it happens. so we waited at least 5mins before someone offered to take our order. The guy attending us was kind of stand offish. Almost like he wanted to hurry and get our order over with. so the customer service wasn't that great. we went to sit down. and the tables were filthy!! but they did come to clean them about 8 mins later. when our order was finally ready at the counter. I noticed that an employee grabbed his phone,and put it on top of someone order (the box) and he didn't have gloves on. which I thought was a little gross. overall experience could've been way better if employees were more attentive/welcoming and if dining area was clean. i'd rate the customer service about 2/10, the food is about 5/10. read more

Holdaak Spicy Sandwich 8/10: juicy, flavorful, the perfect crispy chicken and non-soggy bun, really loved the daikon coleslaw, just wish there was more of a flavor pop overall. Not sure if they forgot to put spice seasoning on mine because I didn't taste the spicy flavor. Spicy Lemon Pepper Wings 8/10: great wings, didn't realize they'd be a dry rub, definitely need to try the saucy flavors next time! Amazing. Should've taken pictures! We'd come back for the fries alone! They gave us a whole bag of fries with our order and they were crispy, crunchy, and oh so well seasoned. Smash burger was decent, chicken sandwich was really good, possibly needing a little more sauce and spice, but easily fixed on my next order by getting different sauce for the chicken. My wife and I just had our first Korean BBQ experience, and we loved it. Everything is self-serve, which actually made the experience even better. Cooking the food together at the table made dinner feel more interactive and fun instead of just sitting there waiting for food to arrive. Our favorites were definitely the Spicy Bulgogi, Spicy Chicken, and the kimchi. The meats had amazing flavor and cooked up perfectly on the grill, and the kimchi had that perfect spicy tang that paired really well with everything. What we didn't expect was how intimate the whole experience felt. Since you're cooking and sharing the food together, it naturally made my wife and I talk more and enjoy each other's company instead of just sitting there with our faces buried in our phones waiting for food to come out. It really turned dinner into quality time. Another great surprise was the price -- less than $80 out the door for the two of us, which felt like a great value for such a fun and memorable experience. The flavor of the meats and sides is still really good, they definitely know how to season their food. The problem this time around was the meat itself. It felt like they were skimping on the portion sizes, and the overall quality of the cuts didn't seem as good as it used to be. When you pair smaller portions and lower quality with their recent price increases, it's just not a great look. I still like this place, but it definitely didn't feel like the best value this time around. I'll probably give them another chance, but I hope they step it back up.

So, when ON Korean Kitchen opened somewhere around 5 months ago in the same location as a poor quality, now defunct, Korean restaurant, I was unimpressed. But then, the rave reviews started rolling in. Seeing they had a nice lunch menu, I thought this could be an opportunity to test the waters with less expensive options. So, today we decided to see how good is REALLY GOOD. They opened at 11. By 11:20 am we were frothing at the mouth in anticipation. First thing I noticed? The other customers were all Korean. YES! Secondly, the server/ hostess was warm, attentive, and friendly. The interior was delightfully fresh and inviting. Great start. The extensive menu is what really impressed me... many traditional dishes that I will never be able to spell, let alone pronounce. Then, there were the different options and preparations for their Korean fried chicken. The pictures were bold and beautiful. Heart be still, I have had a singular passion for good fried chicken since I was a child! But then, oh no, the thin, Kalbi Korean ribs caught my eye. And under the Soups and Stews category, there it was...my husband's favorite of all time, the Beef Rib Soup. It became immediately apparent, I was in a quandry. We had a lot of eating to do... just to make sure, of course. Our meal started with their banchan presentation. There were six, and each was wonderful...pickled cucumber, fish cake, sesame soy marinated pepper and onions ( I think I tasted bonito flakes in this one), sesame oil marinated bean sprouts, traditional Korean potato salad, and lastly... drum roll please...the kimchi. The kimchi was unlike others I've had, with a subtle fish flavor midst all the wonderful, usual kimchi ingredients. Go figure, they make their own. So good! We loved them all. We ordered two skewered meats for starters, one garlic pork belly, one soy glazed chicken. Honestly, these did not make the grade for me, being small, under-seasoned, and in the chicken's case, overcooked. We can move on from ordering these again. The rest of our meal made us downright giddy. The Kalbi and the Beef Rib soup were our final choices. Both turned out outstanding. The Beef Rib soup broth was richer and more flavorful than most we've had in our lifetime. The focus was on the meaty bones, with not too many noodles and two plump jujubes floating on top. Served with steamed rice. This can be found on both the lunch and regular menu. A very wise choice. The Kalbi Ribs, cooked on a sizzling hot, iron platter, were so tender, juicy, and very meaty. The marinade created a lightly sweet and salty glaze, that was finished with a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds and green onions. My lunch portion was very generous, and included a cup of flavorful, lightly spicy, clear broth radish soup that I loved! The Kalbi comes with a bowl of steamed rice. A winner! This, too, is both a lunch and dinner option. Some of main entrees are described as serving 2-3 people. Hence, at first glance, while appearing to be quite expensive, they are not. For instance, if you read the menu closely, several of the more "expensive" meals contain a whole chicken. Throw in all the other goodies, rice, refillable banchan, etc, and it's a feast. I never imagined Corona would attract a Korean restaurant of this caliber. And shucks, I missed out on the fried chicken this time around. I can assure you, that will not happen again.
